to look for good local hair salons in your area?

im so desperate to get my hair done ASAP and my hair stylist is never available when i need my hair done - so i'm going to have to look but i have no idea where?!

where do you all go to look for a place? word of mouth, websites?

and just in case any of you know of any good hairstylists in the san fernando valley, California area - i'd love to know!

I use yelp.com for most of these things. I find it works best if you ignore the high and low ends of a place's rating and concentrate on the middle ground reviews.

But, I actually found my last stylist on a site for curly hair. It's kind of cool that there are communities out there online for such specific subjects.

I go on reccomendations from friends. I hate finding a new stylist! In a few cases I have stopped people on the street whose haircut I liked and asked them where they go, and I went there. Haha!

i tend to ask friends whose hair i really like where they go! although for the past 4 years i have used the same stylist because she's perfect! i've never stuck with one person so long!

The reviews on yelp on salons close to me are all meh. Hope I find something soon lol my hair is a hot mess

Have you tried city search? There's where I found the place I've been going to for the past few years and I love it. Or if you see someone with a hair cut you really like ask them where they get their hair done.
