which brush best for packing on eyeshadow?

I am guessing "packing" means initial application of eyeshadow before other steps like blending. I am deciding between #213 and #239.

And I am deciding bewteen #217 and #224 for blending of eyeshadow. what do you think?

I would say go with the #239 for packing on color and #224 for blending it all out, these brushes are amazing!

I agree with both of these, but also, nothing beats a sponge applicator for packing on the most amont of shadow

Definitely the 239 (213 is more of a fluff shadow brush and will NOT pack on/intensify shadows) - I'd actually recommend the 242 over the 239, since it packs on shadows/pigments much better and is firmer but that's just my opinion =)

Blending: definitely 217 - it picks up more color and gives you more control when blending than the 224

lol sorry, probably just one of my made up terminologies haha - What I mean by that is that it's fluffier and not so dense, hence it won't pick up as much color and therefore is usually not as good with packing on color - The flatter, and denser/firmer shadow brushes (242, 239) always do the best when you want to pack on color for intensity

AMEN.. I think there is already a thread on this... but anyway this is the truth.. you can especially pack it on when you are using a good base and it sticks!!

Hands down, 242 for packing on color. 224 and 217 for blending depending on how intense I want the colors to be.

HTH!

It depends if you want your brush to do more than packing e/s. The 239 is good for packing, applying to lid, crease, and blending. If you want a brush to for just packing then go for the 242. For blending, you can use the 239 too but the 217 is better for blending. I use my 239 and 217 everyday. Sometimes, I only use the 239. It is the best brush made by Mac.

that you can get them in packs and just toss them when you're done... butt you can also save them and use the same ones if you don't change colors often!

Yes; they are.

I like the 239 for packing on colors (no matter what the es finish) and either the 222 or 224 blending brush. I could not put on eyeshadows w/o these 2 brushes. But, of course, I’m approaching this from an amateur point of view because I’m not a professional. Being an African-American woman, I tend to have a heavy hand when applying brow colors; so to keep the shadow light and natural looking, I use the 222 to apply my brow color.
