Which MAC product to prevent shine

Hi guys!
I'm totally new to Specktra, I found my way here through make up tutorials that I found on youtube. Recently I found out there's a MAC-store in the city where I practice brazilian jiu-jutsu (I live in Sweden, in the north part of Europe) and since I've heard so many great things about MAC I want to try some of the products out.

So... My problem is oily skin. The shine I can live with, but the fact that my makeup never stays where I put it is worse. On the website I've found three products that might help me. Matte, Oil Control Lotion and Prep + Prime.

I'm thinking a regular mattifying moisturizer (not necessarily MAC) and then P+P or Matte.
What would you guys recommend? Thank you!

What I tend to do is use the "Studio moisture fix" lotion overnight before hand, as this removes redness.

In the morning I will use the oil control lotion and leave it to set for about 20 Min's, then apply prep+prime skin base visage. This helps keep the oil from your skin and keep the moisturiser and the oil control lotion put!

This has never failed me! It also prevents a bit of sweat build up on your face, so it works if you have to run somewhere and look flawless too!

Hope that helps!

Thank you! What skintype are you? Because what works for you might not be enough for me..
I think prep + prime is what I'm going to get. I'll find myself a more affordable moisturizer though.

I'd avoid Prime N Prep, there are far better primers that what MAC makes. If you ar elooking for something that eliminates shine try MAC Matte - I was actually given a tube by a friend and honestly I am so grateful for it! I have oily skin too in areas and the Matte takes away the shine and keeps it away, I dont have to worry for the rest of the day about breakthrough shine. It might be worth a try

I use MAC's Oil Control, Prep + Prime spf 50, and I occasionally use their blot powder throughout the day.. I also use their blot films which helps as well.

I have combination skin and I'm mainly oily in my t-zone. I've found that the blot powder helps as well as the blotting films.

*edit* I wanna try that MAC Matte... sounds like heaven. haha

Hi I had the same problem, my skin would get very oily as the day passed by. So just yesterday I went to MAC and they reccomended that I try, the blot powder. You use it after your makeup is on for the day, basically for touch ups. Well it really does the trick, and it doesn't build up any color or cakey-ness on your face.

Thank you for your input! Which primer would you recommend? Unfortunately I have very limited access to different brands, since I'm in Sweden... The fact I even found a MAC-store in this country was a bit of a shock.
Matte does seem like a great product... Does it work on the eyelids? It's a problem, because my oiliness makes eyeshadow crease after only an hour or so.

Thank you, patty0411 and EvianAngel!
Blotpowder seems like a great product, but as I said the shine isn't the big issue, it's the fact that no makeup lasts very long... The way I see it, it's two different problems and my priority is getting makeup to last, and stay put.

How oily is your skin? You mean it works as a primer as well?

I really recommend Prep + Prime spf 50 for the face..

I've used Studio Fix, Studio Tech, and I'm currently using Studio Mist foundation with Mineralize loose..

The trick with Studio Tech/Mist, that I've found is that once you've applied that, applying a powder on top of the foundation. For me, it diminishes the look of an oily/wet face look and it helps with the foundation stay on my face.

hope that helps!

If you go with Blot Powder... buy PRESSED because the loose ..... sucks for lack of a better word LOL After the first hour i'm oily again and it goes a bit orangey for me ??

I prefer Smashbox personally, but Shu Umera is great as well. UD also has some good primers

Matte can be used everywhere so eyes are safe

I got the eye base from Lumene, an affordable one that I found in a department store.

Matte is officially on the wish list now

How does that help my makeup stick, and last? Should I apply it before foundation? And for the eyes, would it go on after my primer?
