Hi all, ok, heres the story, several months ago I bought a bunch of pigment samples from a seller on Ebay, and since, I'm beginning to wonder more and more if they are authentic...

Amongst the pigments were what they called White Gold, Golden Lemon and Golden Olive, only, I loved these pigments so much that I ordered a 1/2 tsp from another seller, and its a COMPLETELY different color... Im so damn confused. who is real!?

Ok- The first 'White Gold' is a vanilla color with gold sparkle...

and the golden lemon is a pale buttery yellow with shimmer, but it looks much more vivid in pix that Ive seen on here. HELP!!

I am just curious as to who I was 'had' by

EDITED TO ADD: I've looked at swatches of all three... but can't tell. any of you that can help- Id really appreciate it. :p

Without comparing them in person, it might be hard to determine authenticity...
White Gold is a white/off-white pigment that flashes gold/green. The texture of this one should be chunky or flaky (like Frozen White, Frost, Rose or Steel Blue) - it isn't finely milled.
Golden Lemon, on the other hand, is finer. It is a rather bright yellow (identical to the discontinued frosty Gold pigment) with shimmer. I definitely wouldn't call it a pale, buttery yellow - but it's not neon or anything, just bright.
So, your White Gold description doesn't sound too off, but I don't know about your Golden Lemon... Is there any way you can take pics? Especially comparing them to other MAC pigment/eyeshadow colors?

My white gold, Purchased directly from MAC, has a the appearance of being a very faint seafoam green. Golden Lemon is a bright yellow color with loads of sparkle.

hmmm, well looking at the pigments- the white gold from the second seller is the legit one, it has a faint green opalescence to it, unfortunately, I LOVE the original sellers 'white gold'

I took pictures- but my camera died right afterwards, so Im on the hunt in my apt for batteries.

It is possible to have slight variations in different batches. I have two Vanilla's, 1 vial from a holiday set and 1 full size. 1 is slightly more pink in the container, but looks essentially the same when applied. The differences should not be as dramatic as the post implies.

It sounds like the "White Gold" you like is something called "Interference Gold" True Colors has a version of it in their stack called White Diamonds,... It is white but reflects a soft pale gold sparkle,.. Is really beautiful. I also have a PearlEx pigment actually called "Interference Gold" becareful if you do thik the ones are knock-offs,.. they may not be eye-safe.

Whta is the seller's name on ebay? I got two different White Golds too - one that was a 1/2 tsp. sample from ebay and is a finely milled light vanilla colour with silver/golden sparkle, and the other one is what I believe is the real version with green interference which I got from a fellow specktraer!

It could also be Vanilla! It has a gold shimmer and looks a lot like White Gold in the jar!

I hope you can see the difference in this pic:

Mine is definitely not Vanilla because I have Vanilla :), and the consistence and color are very different! The "false" White Gold doesn't have the consistence of other MAC pigments, it's more like my mineral make up!

Padmita- who did you buy it from... cuz mine sounds similar- the consistency is VERY fine...

Glitter Goddess- where can I find this interference gold you speak of :p

I'm not 100% sure but I think the seller was tru_colour, and yours?

travelmen or something to that effect. it was in a lot of other pigments... and they all have a very thin consistency. Im tempted to email them, let them know that Im fairly sure that theyre not MAC, but want to know who they are from....

trvlmen is well known for selling fake MAC pigments and glitters on eBay. I know several people who've been caught out by him. He's been reported to eBay several times but they've never done anything to stop him.

He's very shady and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was using pigments intended for craft use or something. The glitter samples he sold to someone else I know certainly appeared to be cheap craft glitter.

good to know- just checked, and they are no longer a registered member...

that pisses me off since I bought 2 full sized glitters from them, and they were in MAC jars (labeled) and MAC boxes, but now looking at the glitter swatches in precautions, they arent the glitters that are supposed to be in there... I didnt even know.. I had sample for sale in my clearance bin thread, and as soon as I found out- I took them off immediately.. I feel so bad, but I dont think I sold any, so, yeah...

Man, that really chaps my ass.
