white tip recs

Hey, I'm new to the nail section. I'm a dummy with nails, but don't really feel like getting my nails done twice a month. It seems like every white nail polish i buy to do french tips cracks really easily or just doesn't show up enough in the first coat. I'm good at doing french tips on myself, i'm just having a hell of a time finding a good product for it. I've tried the thin brush kind they sell at sally's but those dry up SO fast, i've tried the sally hanson kits, i've tried random white nail polishes...

any suggestions?

i like Orly White Tip.
try using tip guides, which you can find at any drugstore or Sally's. or you can freehand the tip with no real regard for preciseness, and use a brush dipped in remover to clean up the shape. hth!

it's almost impossible to find a 1 coater non-streaky white... if you want the best quality white out there and price is not an issue, try Rescue Beauty Lounge Underware.

yeah i mean i don't expect it to be perfect with one coat, but I just hate the kind that go on so sheer that you need 5 coats

have you actually used that underware color? the reason I ask is because I read a ton of mixed reviews, many people said it was the streakiest polish they've ever used, and others loved it

^ i actually haven't, but most people say they love it... RBL's are known to go on buttery smooth... but i guess you won't really know until you tried it. i myself personally wouldn't spend $18 on a basic white color because i rarely use white, but if you use it very often i see no problem shelling out that much money for it.

opi alpine snow goes on pretty opaque the first go round. the most i've ever had to do was two coats, but that was when my nails were in horrible shape and the polish kept settling in the ridges. now, with my nails in better shape, it's all i'd ever use for a white tips.

I'm a white polish lover~I've tried tons but my fave is China Glaze White On White. It's the most opaque bright white I've ever had. You only need 2 coats, for tips only you can get away with 1.
