why do we do it?

so...i was thinking about a conversation my lovely sister and i had a while back. she asked me why i wear makeup.

i know this is probably terrible, but i just wear it because i don't feel right without it. maybe i'm shallow, but i just don't feel right walking outside into the rest of the world without makeup on to at least give myself an even skintone and full brows. and of course, there's always the self expression that it allows which i also love. you can always tell my mood by my makeup hahaha.

so, why do you wear makeup?

Hun, I will not leave the house without eyebrows, lipgloss and a little blush. You have to do what makes you feel ready to tackle the f*ing world

I leave the house all the time without a stitch of makeup. I'm on Accutane so my skin is clear. You know, I go out and see other people without makeup too. Some people have really bad skin and they just don't care, so I don't care.
But, college I wear it foundation and concealer to make my skin look as good as possible. I feel the most confident when my skin is clear. Then some blush to make me look alive and healthy. Then I curl my lashes, put in eye drops, then carefully put concealer around my eyes to take out the redness. Then I'll usually put on Carmex


I love makeup more than anything but wearing lipcolor and heavy eyemakeup during the day, it makes me uncomfortable. I can't look at someone in the eye with bright blue eyeshadow, like the ladies do here.

To me, it's just because it's fun. I only put on makeup when I have time in the morning anyway (which is not often, for some reason my two alarms aren't enough to get me to wake up in time). I like playing with colours and mixing them up and that's about the only reason I buy unearthly amounts of makeup. It's like painting on a canvas, only ever-so-slightly less messy.

Although I have to say that I can't leave the house without lip balm, because they're always dry and cracked and yuck!

I have more self confidence with make up. I need to have time to atleast carefully put mascara, eyebrows and some powder on or I have a bad day and I have enough of those days already!!!

I wont leave with full makeup on unless I am going somewhere or doing something. I have to admit I feel that it is a little impractical to be in full face. I will NOT leave the house without some mascara, lipgloss and blush though. It makes me feel more complete, like it doesnt matter that i have sweats on as long as my lashes have mascara on them. :-D

Haha.. for me in some ways it has become my identity. I've always worn makeup and I always will. I just don't feel right without it. I feel naked and sometimes even embarrassed when people see me without my mascara on. I think I look better with it.. so hey, why not.

I really enjoy putting it on, the art of expression, etc...I definitely HATE walking around without eyeliner and mascara on...I can live without my BE foundation, but I do like to have a little something to even myself out. Lip stuff is more of a necessity--I like using the LC for the SPF.

Seriously, I have what all the MA's refer to as porcelain skin (nice way of saying I look like a ghost) so if I don't have blush on, I look dead. I hate when I don't have m/u on and everyone asks me if I'm feeling well. If I didn't wear blush out of the house, I would probably find myself in a coffin trying to dig my way out with my fingernails.

I have so much fun putting my makeup on (deciding what colors to wear, what way to apply them) that I just have to do it anytime I'm getting ready to leave my apartment...and sometimes I do it even when I'm not planning on going anywhere! It's not really like I feel I'll be ugly without it...I just really enjoy it, and I have so much of it that I might as well use it every chance I get, or I feel like I'm wasting it.

I don't need makeup but honestly if I don't have it on, i'm in a bad mood lol. It makes me feel better when I know that i did a good job today on my eyes. I also like to see my progress with my makeup, everyday i'm getting better!

If I'm working I wear mascara, neutral eye shadow, lip gloss and some powder. It gives me confidence especially since often people comment that I don't look old enough to be doing my job so hopefully wearing it makes me look older/more professional! I also have very fair skin and wearing some make up stops people saying I look tired or ill. I love painting and colours/textures so although I'm just starting I really enjoy experimenting with colour too.

ehhhh i have really bad self confidence and makeup just helps me feel a tiny bit better about myself. i'm talking about the basics, concealer, mascara, brow pencil and gloss. i do all the crazy eyemakeup because it's fun and a hobby to me

In the world that we live in we need a bit of glamour.
Make up gives me that glamour and enhances the way I feel about myself. I have a very low opinion of myself I am constantly told, and wearing make up gives me that little extra shred of confidence.

I don't wear it at weekends, I like to let my skin breathe on my days off.

I am such a girlie girl anyway, but my make up completes me.
