The reason I reufuse to work for a MAC Counter is because you can't wear stuff that the MAC Store or PRO Store carries, that's such bullshit isn't it ? You can only wear make up that the MAC Counters carry and nothing else, so all those pigments I have I couldn't waer them unless they were released with SHE SHINES or something like that, and there's no MAC Store around here for another 50 miles, so that's why I won't work for MAC does anyone else feel the same way too ???

Hmm,.. It would irk me to no end,.. but I can understand why they do it,.. I was at a Nordies MAC counter a couple weeks ago,.. ths girl was totally in love with my look,.. unfortunately I had to tell her that Delineate, Coral Grade, and Pinkular were sold out at the store and she might not be able to get them online. She was heartbroken,.. so that guideline is more about customer happiness. I guess I'd rather collect it and wear what I want and maybe freelance instead of actually working there all the time.

I would wear only their stuff

I understand your frustration though, but I also understand MAC, the colorstory of the moment needs to be advertised, and the available products need the same. Not that fabulous product from mac the is available in a store 50 miles away...

Maybe I shouldn't say anything, but....you learn very quickly to "substitute" a look-alike color for whatever you're wearing...even more "naughty" is that ALOT of MAC MA's sometimes wear stuff to work that isn't even MAC...you've gotta get creative there!!

And.,..I have to add....at least in my experience working at both counters and PRO stores....not many people buy pigments...can you believe that?????

I can see how that could be disappointing... you have all these pigments that you can't wear, etc. However, and I mean this with respect, that's lame. If you take a quick inventory of all the eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks, foundations and more that MAC has to offer at partnered locations you are still far from limited in your choices. If working for MAC is something that you truly wanted to do this small inconvenience would not stop you. I highly doubt that this is something that you truly want because that simple fact would not hold you back. It's probably better that you don't work for MAC, however, because I don't think they would want someone who is this narrowly molded in their makeup artistry skills that they cannot fathom the idea of being without their pigments. I love pigments just as much as many of you Specktra junkies, but I can also see what a great opportunity working for MAC is period. MAC is a company whose dedication to special programs such as Viva Glam, the awesome training that's available to MAC artists, and not to mention the highest levels of respect to their employees that you would only be so lucky to work with. MAC has to keep themselves unique in order to be on the cutting edge of artistry and design- and this may mean there are a few products that are not available at partnered locations. MAC is a company that is not even comparable to any others, thus why there is entire website dedicated to those who love MAC and what it stands for. My advice to you is, if you are truly interested in working for a company as highly respected and grand as MAC I would reconsider your smug attitude.

I am truly sorry if this message has a mean connatation, but I cannot stand when people pose such narrow and negative attitudes.

This is unnecessarily harsh and personal. Also I don't believe 'smug' is correct for any of Pascals comments?? We should all be able to voice our opinions for discussion, after all that's what we are here for... without fear of a personal attack on them.

I know it came out that way, but reread what her original message said, it was unnecessary. I am sorry if it was too harsh, and I understand that we are not here to persicute but I am entitled to my opinion, as well.

In a way, it makes sense - if the products (aka pigments) are not sold at that particular location, why advertise them? Lots of times I admire what the MA is wearing and ask him/her to show me the product, you wouldn't be able to do that if the product isn't at the counter.

What a pointless thing to be irritated about. You're free to wear whatever make-up you like in your own time; it's perfectly reasonable for a cosmetics company to require that you wear their available product on their time.

Everyone is free to express their own opinions, but everyone else is equally free to point out that said opinions are complete bunk.

I actually agree that MAC is fair in it's policy. I just didn't think 'smug' was appropriate but meh everyones different.

It was smug as in she had the attitude such as "I'm not going to work for MAC because I can't wear certain colors" it sounds very "I'm too good" in my opinion

Ok, two hours ago you were posting about wanting to commit suicide and asking for assistance in the act.
You've posted numerous times about your mother being a 'tricycle cunt' or something to that effect.

I think, and please take this as only an observation, that you may have more important matters in life than to rant about a job you don't have that you'll never work at for what ultimately are rather unprofessional reasons.

When you work at a M·A·C counter you are being paid to sell their products. Customers will find it extremely frustrating if they see a particular product you are wearing and on asking to buy it be told that it's not available anywhere close or that it's been discontinued. You are there to serve the customer and the company and not yourself.

I'm not choosing sides or saying who's right and who's wrong but I have found it best on online communities that if you don't like something, don't comment. Saves the drama.
