why is this dude so quiet?

so i was just replying to the thread about being approachable, and it got me thinking about this guy.

he's so effing quiet when i'm around. the day i met him, he asked me to go out to drinks with him and his friends, but i'm underage so it was a no go. other than asking me if i want to go out with him and his friends, this kid says barely a word to me...even if i ask him something, he'll nod or shake his head, and if i'm lucky i'll get a kind of muted "yes" or "no" from him. we have a pretty close mutual friend, and when this mutual friend is in our presence, he doesn't seem to have a problem talking to me. but if that friend isn't there, he seems to be really nervous.

it drives me fucking crazy because i've never dealt with a guy like this before. i wonder what his deal is...does this situation sound familiar to anyone? or can someone maybe give me some insight into what's going on in his mind?

I agree with the above. He probably gets more confidence talking to you when others are around, but not when you are alone.

that's what i've been told by a few other ladies i've discussed this with...but that prospect just mysitifies me, because this guy's in his mid twenties...is that normal for someone his age to still be in that stage?

I would hope by mid 20's that that difference wouldn't mean a lot. Just sounds like he doesn't have a lot of self confidence.

I dont think that being shy around someone you like is age related. Ive had that with someone who was 32 - he actually confessed to being scared

(i was 16 at the time and was a lot more confident than him).
I sometimes get a bit quiet around people i really like if there is no alcohol in my system (which given that i dont drink about 99% of the time, is pretty likely). Maybe he just doesnt want to make a complete ass of himself - i suffer from foot-in-mouth syndrome too...

Boys don't mature, at all. (Well, at least mine!)

Sounds like this boy has a bit of a crush and doesn't know how to go about it.

he either likes you or he a little afraid to open up to new ,meaning hes really self conscious and afraid to do/say something dumb. maybe find out what he is interested in and ask him questions, that'll make him talk more, hopefully. then maybe he'll feel more comfortable around you.

i can be like that sometimes. but i tend to open up after a little while.

it could be that he either likes u as mention and is nervous.
or he could just be shy, or insecure.
or he could just be the quiet type, some people are just quiet, i always thought those types "think alot. lol

we listen to the same kind of music haha, that's about as far as i've gotten with him. maybe i should mention something about it again and see what he does.

i hope he's not insecure...he's terribly handsome haha!

I suggest making the first move if he's that handsome! Kisses are always a great conversation starter!
