Okay so I love MAC..I dont want to go to other brands..but..this little thing does niggle me that you get no samples..wether you spend £50 or £500..you get no samples.. with other brands..clinique, dior, chanel..you will always get loads of samples, which is nice after parting with your cash...

Even my other half recently commented.. his daughter got a load of chanel samples..when comes with me to MAC its always cold service and nil samples!

Any reason why its a no go with MAC..??.. this is the only thing that niggles me!!..

I don't know why either, and I'd love to know ;S I always get attitude when I ask for samples, and just attitude in general at the counter. I bought 2 things from Lancome once and they gave me about 5 samples.. I was thrilled ;O
However, it doesn't change the fact that the MAC makeup itself is amazing and that my love for its quality will never be vanquished xD

Yah it can be kind of strange, although all my experiences have been good with asking for samples... But I think it would be nice if they had little samples of their skin care line! That would be convenient.

I don't know why MAC doesn't give samples officially. But for the most part the MAC MA's I've talked to are very generous have been totally willing to give me samples, even when I don't explicitly ask for them. I went out with my mom once to MAC and she expressed interest in a tinted lip conditioner and the MA asked her right off the bat if she wanted a sample of it. I guess it depends on the MA. It never hurts to ask, and if they give you attitude about it, ask someone else another time.

As for possible reasons...I feel like it's that MAC doesn't really need to do the whole GWP or samples thing to attract customers because they have a pretty strong following anyway. MAC doesn't really have a lot of competition. Not that there aren't tons of makeup brands, but MAC is considerably more unique and edgy than other brands. But for brands like Chanel, their competition include YSL, Dior, Lancome, Estee Lauder...they're all within similar price ranges and offer products that appeal to a similar demographic.

Mac typically doesn't have pre-packaged samples like other brands but I've never had a problem getting a sample when I've requested one. (provided the item could be sampled....like foundation, lotion, etc.)

Also, some other brands, like Chanel, are much more expensive than Mac. Perhaps all that extra $$ allows them to provide more samples?

^^ Yeah, I had heard sometime ago that MAC saves quite a bit of money from not making out pre-packaged samples. Instead they have little sample jars and the MA can make you a sample of whatever.

There has also been a big issue with people getting samples from MAC (especially with pigments) and then just selling them on ebay for profit.

I think it all depends on where you go, some places are more sample friendly while other places aren't. Same with the MA's you encounter there. It also helps if you go to a certain counter a lot and kind of form a relationship with the MA's there. That way they'll know your not just some sample hog trying to make a bit of free dough off ebay lol.

I actually just got an email from MAC and they are giving free shipping along with a sample of the zoomlash mascara. They did that before some time back. Maybe some day they will have more samples and possibly GWP? Who knows, we'll have to wait and see!
