WWYA, What would you ask?

Ok, so I am changing things up a bit here. Specktra is a community of makeup crazed addicts (an enthusiastic description

) who are for the most part interested in keeping up with the latest and greatest of what is going on in the cosmetic world. MAC's color collection are almost always a direct correlation to trends emerging from the Fashion Week runways across the world.

What I am getting around to is... I am headed to NYC for New York Fashion Week this weekend. For the past week I have been picking my brain for questions to ask the Key artists I will be interviewing and I realized, WHAT WOULD SPECKTRA WANT TO KNOW? I am taking myself out of the equation and asking you, Specktra members, what you would ask a MUA if you had 5 minutes of face time with influential artists from several prestige cosmetic brands? (who will likely be identifying and setting the trends you will see next spring!)

I am making this trip for you Specktra, so tell me what you would ask or want to know! Remember that Fashion Week is for Spring / Summer '09.

What are the three products that you won't be able to live without for spring, as far as creating the look?

What are going to be some of the key concepts as far as the looks go?

Any new or interesting products that you will be using?

Thank you miss KikiB, your Q's are FANTASTIC I've added them to the master list. Please, keep them coming, I want to hear from you all!

I am going to add everyone's questions to this master list and then ask as many of them as I can in the time I have. I plan on playing them back on Glam Soup (as well as writing them up on the blog)!

I would like to know:

Which shades and colors can we expect for the spring season? For the eyes, lips and cheeks?

Which finishes? Matte, shimmery? Pastel, bright?

Will there be a nail color trend for spring?

If it comes to summer, pale or tanned?

Which shape of eyebrows? Brighter or smaller?

Oh, that's a lot

I would ask what make-up trends this fall/winter will still be in fashion in spring. That way we can try to make purchases which we will still be able to use next year.

Other than the traditional what is up for next spring I would go with:

Where are we drawing inspiration from

How does Mac feel about keeping up with the changing technological aspect of the cosmetics industry

Mac has been pumping out lots of new finishes and reformulations, what is next up for a revamp or reformulation?

Mac has always been primarily about color cosmetics, do we see any new innovations in skincare/haircare or anything of the like coming up for mac anytime soon

How do you choose the makeup and look for each collection?

How do you stay contemporary with the trends while keeping true to the 'look' of each line? For instance, Ralph Lauren has a really fresh, preppy look. How do you make it looked different each season?

Great questions! I can see a few that would apply to the VIP MAC interview specifically, I will be interviewing artists from several lines so keep those Q's coming!

fall trends usually focus on the lips, what feature is the focus going to be put on in upcoming seasons (ie. winter '08, spring '09, etc)

What do you draw inspiration from when creating collections? Do you have 'inspiration' boards like other artists?

How is that every major make-up house seems to have the same 'trend' for each season!? Is there a super-secret meeting they all go to 'Okay, fall '08 is gonna be vampy lips!!'? (or is that a total noob question?)

my number one question: Can you give us some free MAC?

I'm kidding!

real question: What inspires MAC's makeup trends and collections?
