I was in the kitchen painting my nails a vampy, deep burgundy color to match my new MAC haul when my sister came in.
"Are you trying to be glamorous all of a sudden?" she asked me, apparently thinking that me putting pigtails in for the first time in a few years was also an attempt at being "glamorous".
"When haven't I been glamorous?" I snapped back, annoyed to be talking while painstakingly attempting to coat my nails.
"Like, never." She snickered. "You wear black almost all the time and you never do anything with your hair, and you're pale."
I rolled my eyes, "Okay, Miss Fashionista, what is glamor to you?"
"Like how I dress. I wear clothes from Ambercrombie and I do stuff with my hair and I try to get a tan and I wear fake nails..."
I laughed and told her to get her 12-year-old butt out of here.
But it got me thinking, what exactly is glamor? Us makeup girlies throw the word around quite a bit but how often do we stop to think about it? For me, I think being glamorous is as much about looking good as it is about the attitude. Take me for example, I'm not the stereotypical fashionista. I have pale skin, black hair, I wear dark sexy clothes and highlight my hair a variety of unnatural colors. But it's what makes me feel good, you know? It's my own personal style, and I think I look damn fine in it. I carry myself with confidence and an "Yeah, I know I'm sexy." attitude. I don't feel the need to be tanned and bleach blonde and wear designer clothes or carry a chihuahua in my purse or wear high heels or any of that... but if that's what you like, fine. I do what I like and not what the latest edition of Vogue tells me to do.
In conclusion; If you take care of yourself, look good and know it, then you my friend... are one glamorous babe!
