Chanel Spring 2011

I too find Chanel's customer service and website extremely tedious - if I start having problems with the website, I give up and hope I can find what I want in stores. It just isn't worth it to me. I want my internet buying experience to be quick, easy and hassle-free. Chanel's is usually none of those things. As many of us have said before, they trade on their brand. If everyone stopped buying through the website, they might take notice (though probably not) - but that isn't practical for most people. My guess is they have a bare-bones information technology department, and try to get by on the minimum. There have been many times I wish I didn't like their products so much, so I could boycott them, but that's probably not going to happen.

So I guess those of us dependent on the online purchase must just suck it up.

All that said, my box has shipped and should be here tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to getting everything.

Michele, I, like you, did not have any Chanel np.....can't say that any more - the SOHO collection got me started. I now have 5 polishes (including one that I 'won' at Nordies - Blue Satin). And I just ordered Black Pearl.....it's a much more controlled obsession though ;).

Hello ladies! Sorry I've been such a stranger. Things have been crazy and my eyes have been getting tired so easily that I haven't been on the computer much and have been heading to bed early every night. I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday! Mine went well. I was pretty beat after the flu and surgery but managed to get the ridiculous 30 pound turkey cooked Christmas and the kids had a blast.

I finally heard from my SA at Macy's the other day that the collection was in so I placed a embarassingly large order. She isn't back to work until tomorrow to pack it up and I still have the overwhelming urge to add to it since I didn't order any glossimers or nail polishes (although I ordered practically everything else LOL). I'm so excited to get my goodies but also nausiated at how much I spent when I really shouldn't have. Thank goodness the Summer collection doesn't look to appealing to me because I need to go on a lengthy no buy or strict low buy.

Now I need to somehow convert my makeup addiction to a workout addiction so I don't feel like a fat cow in Mexico in 2 and a half weeks...OMG a little over 2 weeks! That is nuts. I'm so not ready. I don't even begin to know what or how to pack. I don't even have anywhere to lay out my suitcases anymore since we had the kids.

I really want to bring my "good" makeup on vacation since it is really the only time I actually will be going out a lot to make the most of it. It should be safe and OK to do so as long as I pack everything in my carry on and/or purse right?

Hi mrslid......sounds like vacation is just what you need! I always bring my makeup in my carryon bag - I never pack it. It tends to get a bit heavy, but I don't care - I don't trust it in my checked luggage.

Your makeup should make you feel beautiful - don't put undue pressure on yourself - you're going to have a great time! Just relax and enjoy it!!

Cheryl -- I hope you like all of your goodies. I agree, the Chanel website is a total pain! I returned a lipstick and gloss over the summer with their free return policy. Come to think of it, I never checked my credit card to make sure they refunded everything. I just returned a couple of things last month -- I will make sure they refund it. After reading so many people talk about how Chanel is not refunding the $$ from the free online returns, it is making me a lil upset! Maybe one day the Macy's, Dillards, etc by me will start carrying Chanel!!

Mrslid -- I hope you have a fabulous time on vacation! I usually carry on my make up and make sure it is packed securely so nothing shatters. I think I have to end up putting glosses in the quart size ziplock bags since they count it as a liquid. But then again, in a different airport I put a gloss in my pocket and no one said a word as I walked through the scanner! I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing time in Mexico.

Prices are going up in Jan?? I wonder how much?

Yes everyone had better check their credit cards to ensure they received their refunds. That's terrible!

She said the prices for colour are going up and it is only $1-2 for most stuff but up to $5. That is crazy. Grrrr. Maybe it is a good thing I made such an enormous haul before the new year and then I won't buy anything more for a WHILE.

I haven't had any problems with returns other than that they take a long time. I had some problems with the web site not working a few months ago but it's worked for me since. They ship faster to me than MAC, and that's saying alot because I generally get my MAC orders very quickly. I also like that we get to choose samples. The one significant problem I did have I *think* was really the fault of UPS... where my package was shipped clear across the country from where it was supposed to go...Chanel wanted no part of it when I called. That was pretty disappointing and somewhat along the lines of Amy's experience. Under similar circumstances MAC has sent out a new package and taken care of recovering the MIA one themselves, and they have been very pleasant about it too. So I guess in general for me Chanel been good, but when things go wrong they seem to be unable to help or disinterested in doing so. I've had similar experiences with Neiman Marcus and Chantecaille, making me think that some of these high end folks think they're too good to have to care about customer service -- exactly the opposite of what I would have expected!

Winthrop, you are very lucky then. It took me 12 days to even reach Chanel and they did not refund any money till about 3 weeks later ... I never got any of the Soho collection and frankly I don't miss it.

I have mentioned it before too -- the corporate structure of Chanel is a disaster... it's so refined and elegant on appearances, but it's a nasty company to work with.

Mrslid... so glad you are well and recovering from your surgery. Take this opportunity to rest up even before you go on vacation -- travelling now is a mess too. One word of caution to all who travel with expensive makeup, most hotel staff know what a black case with white CC means, and they are not hesitant to liberate it from you -- and trust me, fighting with hotel management is not what makes for a happy vacation. I have been in that situation and even if it's a major chain, they will not want to reimburse you for even $ 500 worth of mu.

If I go to Mexico, I take all my used and busted up stuff.. lol.. kinda steal proof but hey, if you are going to be in the sun/sand/water, much mu is not required.. or, get the safe and store you good mu in it with your valuables.

Of the entire collection... The quint, the nude gloss and the blush are MUST HAVES imo. Pearl Drop nailie is the hidden treasure of the bunch... Black Pearl is expectedly fabulous. I cannot say enough about that blush... I got two! It's just a stunning peach on me. I love it even more than 'In Love' if that's possible! The eyeliner is unexpectedly awesome. I didn't think I was going to like it... but I really do. The quad was 'blah' to me. I've seen all those colors before... it didn't really move me.
Thanks for this info. I just checked into this thread because I had to order from Nordies since Mac was out of some things so I just had to check out the Chanel items....Uh oh! I have the quint and the blush in my cart now. I'm intrigued by the blush. I really miss Reflex and I hope this is similar. I don't know if I should go for the nailpolish. I have recently gone crazy with nailpolish and I don't know if I should go down the Chanel road again. I haven't bought any Chanel polish in ages. I recently went on a nailpolish spree at Ulta last week. Just wondering if anything else is a must have. Any one else want to weigh in? BTW I have been wearing Pleasing Glossimer almost daily since I bought it. It goes with everything!

I couldn't wait for the spring collection to hit Singapore so I ordered from Nordstrom. I ordered Espiegle blush, Coquette RA and the 5 shadow palette. I can't wait for them to arrive.

^^ Enjoy your haul! Does this means that your blush will be the US version and not the baked one? I'm loving the creamy look of the US JC and wish I could get my hands on it.

Happy New Year (a few hours early)!!! I picked up 2 Chanel lippies today - Jersey Rose and Flamboyante - love!!! I also ended up with more of a MAC haul than I intended....but I love everything. The new paint pots are cool - and I ended up with 3 of the gelees and one beauty powder.....

I skipped the pearl nail polish, and didn't get Coquette, but may end up with that one anyway......and I didn't get either of the glossimers....I dunno, the white one reminded me of a couple I already have, and Nakkar didn't sing to me, but who knows. I could end up back at Macy's tomorrow. I'm looking forward to Mr. Brown Shorts (ok, Mr. Brown Snow Pants) showing up later this afternoon.......

Yay for your haul Cheryl! I added a bunch of items to my Chanel cart on Macy's -- but I am trying to wait until the new year to buy ;) I haven't been in MAC forever -- I need to go check out a few of their new items. I just love deliveries as well -- the rush of tearing into a new package is intoxicating

Has anyone tried on/bought the highlighter Rose Merveille? I'm wondering how it compares to MAC Play It Proper?

Quint is a MUST HAVE. Just trust me on that. That blush... at second pass... is dangerously close to In Love. It's more matte (In love has more depth and shimmer) so if you want more a matte peach, that's the one for you. I LOVE the pearl drop nailie. I love Black Pearl too (which I expect to sell out) but Pearl Drop was TOTALLY unexpected to me.

Here's my Chanel Face today:
FACE
Guerlain Parure Gold (06)
By Terry Touche Veloutee in Cream
Chanel Jouse Contrase Blush in Espiegle
Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte
EYES
OMBRES PERLÉES DE CHANEL:
Dark Grey on lids
Olive Green above crease
Shimmer peach to browbone
Chanel Gris Scintillant Eye Definer
Clinique Gel Liner in True Black
Chanel Intimitable Intense Mascara
LIPS
Chanel Lip Liner in Peche
Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Genie

I bolded everything in the Spring 2011 collection. I really like that quint and I LOVE the eyeliner. I'm getting backups of both!
