Bright red or pink gloss?

I've always stayed away from reds and deep colors just because I'm so pale that they never looked great on me. I bought Clinique's Happy holiday set for Christmas and it came with 2 mini lip glosses, one is a bright red called Juicy Apple. Out of curiosity, I tried it. It's a bright red, but my lips are a bit pigmented, so it sort of looked like a bright berry type of color and I loved it.

I'd never spend more than $10 on a lipgloss, so I've been looking at NYX lipglosses trying to find a sheer red or sheer bright pink that I can start wearing. I'm pale with pink undertones, medium brown hair and hazel eyes. So far I've been looking at African Queen and Dolly Pink by NYX, but am thinking those might be too bright?

Any recommendations for me? :D

Pale skin tones look best with blue-red lipstick. That being said, the same goes for bright blue-pinks. For a pink, try Louisana lipstick as a base range as to what you should work with color wise.. I know that the Dolly Pink gloss would go with that, it's the same kind of colour. African Queen is going to be really hit or miss, so if you want a sure thing, get the Dolly Pink. NYX Snow White is a good lipstick, but as far as the lipglosses go in the red family, I know that their new Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo is lovely, but if you're looking for something more sheer, go with the Mega Shine in Plush Red.

Thanks for your help! I've noticed that NYX doesn't have lot of blue based pinks, the only one that I notice is Dolly Pink. The reason I mentioned African Queen is because of the purple-blueish sparkles, but I think it might be too dark for me. :)

Your skin tone sounds like mine. I have rather natural rosy lips and found pure red looks nice on me. I usually start with rosy red lipsticks and work my way up to darker colours to see what works best on me. No orange tones. Keep it cool, think roses, raspberries, etc. I find the darker lipsticks very flattering and brighten up my face.

From left to right:

Revlon Lustrous LIpstick-Love That Red (creme)
MAC-Milan Mode (luster)
Clinique Different Lipstick-Glazed Berry
MAC Lip Conditioner-Fuschia Fix
Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss-Raspberry

I expect a bunch of lippies today from MAC, but not sure if there is any reds. Mostly pinks and soft tones. I need to work on my reds now!

I also have a little bit of a plump face, and have heard that round faces don't look as good with darker lip colors. I mainly want something bright and fun to wear, like NYX's Dolly Pink or something like that. Let me know what lippies you get from MAC! :D
