What's this?

As you guys know I work in a Sony store which I absolutely love! However sometimes there are certain types of people get in that just drive me crazy. Yesterday I had a classic example of this. the 'what's this?' guy came in. Now a 'what's this?' guy is somebody who comes into the store, asks for a product, you show them the products in that section to see which one they want. However all the while they are pointing at other random stuff saying 'what's this?'. Generally it will be older folk who do this and usually the item they are pointing at is a tv set. Now please tell me that you really don't need me to tell you what a tv is?!

So yesterdays 'what's this' guy came in asking for radios. Did he seem interested in them? Not at all. He just kept pointing at other random stuff! Which is all fine if he were interested in the other stuff, but he was literally just pointing at things like a child would! In the end he wasted about 30 minutes of my time and bought diddley squat! Thanks 'what's this?' guy!

Do you guys get any annoying customers at your work? Or just any annoying or frustrating things that members of the public do? Share your thoughts here! Or just pity me for speaking to a 'what's this?' guy at least once a day!

I don't work in sales and haven't met anyone like this yet. From what you described, I imagine it would take a lot of patience and control not to whack the guy! If I couldn't walk away I would probably strangle him lol. But I'm not good at doing sales at all. Big hug for you!

Yeah I deal with annoying people at work too. There are all sorts of people out there. There was this guy who liked to say "show me" to everything we say, as though we wanted to fool him on purpose. He just could not take our word for it, and could not trust anyone. Since he doesn't believe in anyone, why not find out whatever he needs to himself? But he is too lazy and just like to use his mouth. A sad man, isn't he?

sadly patience is something that i don't have! you can sometimes spot the 'what's this?' guys so i try and hide from them and get my sales guys to serve them instead! i'm terrible!

oh and we can call your guy the 'show me' guy!! he sounds like a pain in the neck! you'd think he would trust the people that he works with just a little bit! it must be very frustrating having to prove everything you are saying or doing to him! but there are certainly many strange people in the world! odd balls as i like to call them!
