MAC Quite Cute Discussion

I have to say I'm really disappointed by this collection, but also ecstatic because I have absolutely no makeup money right now anyway! :p

I'll probably still pick up Quite Cute, though. I can't pass a lavender lippie. :)

Karens swatch of Playing Koi looks awful. Will still swatch in store (because I am a lot paler and it could look totally different) but I''m hoping this can be a cut :)

Playtime actually looks quite nice on Karen but I don't really see myself wearing it.

Quite Cute looks great though. I love grey/lilac colours so this is right up my alley :)

yeah sakura blush is still coming home with me! it looks lovely and i bet on my nc20 skin tone it would look quite pretty. candy yum yum and quite cute are still on my list too. i may get the darkest lip liner too. seeing as i'm skipping the quad and the other glosses!

This is one of the reasons why I'm waiting to try out the products for myself. It seems that they might work well only on really fair complexions. Which makes me wonder what the marketing team was thinking when they green-lit that... "Hey, you know that 2% pf people who look like they glow in the dark? Why don't we do a collection just for them?" Anyway, I still have my fingers crossed that I'll want some things. And my wallet is hoping that what I've seen so far is actually indicative of what's to be had.

Mostly I feel like I belong in a 2% group though... seemed like almost nobody did a collection for darker yellow toned Asian skin. Oh well, time for experimenting anyways

I'm definitely skipping this collection. My wallet isn't that happy though, because I'd be spending the money somewhere else anyways

Btw, just a thought for those who got turned of by the quad swatches... I don't think one blog's review would justify anything if you love the color. I bought a quad that had not-so-great review but I end up loving it because I like the colors there anyways :).

And I think Candy Yum Yum is a pretty color, just not on me ;)

I was glad to finally see swatches on Temptalia. But, I don't always agree with her reviews. So I will def be checking out the collection for myself. I'm not giving up on the goods I'm after just yet! ;)

I tend to be fairly wary of swatches on Temptalia because the bright lighting she uses on her lip shots don't represent real-life lighting. I wish she would use more natural lighting that wasn't quite so direct -- I have bought lippies because they looked so sparkly and and pretty in the photos only for them to look nothing like that in reality. :) (Admittedly, my lips are pigmented, too, which is part of the problem in trying to buy based on her swatches.)

But I find her site useful in getting a sense for blushes and eyeshadows -- she's darker than me (I'm NC20/NC15) but I'm so warm-toned that I find that colors I should be able to wear because I'm fairly light (disclaimer: I'm Latina and Native American so being medium-toned would be "normal" for me) don't actually work because of my undertones. Most pastels just look odd on me, so I'm afraid this collection is a total skip for me. I love the concept, but....

Oh well, money saved -- to spend on other brands! :D

I agree that after seeing Temptalia's quad swatches, I was really disappointed. But I went back to some of the earlier swatches I saved and I still love it. http://zonkosworld.blogspot.com/2011/02/mac-quite-cute-collection-swatches.html
Guess this is one I'll have to swatch in person. I was disappointed with Surf swatches too. What's a girl to do?? LOL I hope something from Quite Cute catches my eye because the release is the day before my birthday and I was planning a MAC/H&M shopping spree (luckily for me they're directly across from each other in the mall :)

Haha I love these little guys ^.^

Like someone else said, temptalia's lighting is pretty bright so maybe candy yum yum won't be as neony in natural lighting? I dunnoooo
