First One, Only One question!!

What do you do? When you are trying out a new line or brand of makeup, what do you go after first?

I always hit the blush first, with lipstick very close behind. Which would explain my extensive blush and lipstick collection! Then glosses and eye makeup/foundation last! I am wary of foundations since they rarely match me well or are too oily, so I am super picky on that stuff.


If you could only wear one makeup item on you for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? Plain moisturizers, creams and plain lip balm don't count.

I would wear blush, some kind of powder pink! I am so pale and pink blushes just liven up my face like nothing else does! Plus I have seen some very old ladies, well into their 80's, with white hair rolled up in a bun and pink blush on, and they look adorable and classy!

What are your choices...and why?

Usually I will try out a new brand if I've heard a lot of raves about certain products. For instance - NARS blushes, Urban Decay primer potion, Stila lip glazes, etc. Every brand has strengths and weaknesses in their product portfolio so I tend to pick and choose from what I see positive reviews for.

I also love palettes so have on many occasions purchased a palette and then gone on to buy other products from that brand, e.g. Chanel, Dior, and a UK brand called New CID.

usually i try out a brand if they sell lots of different colours for everything. that is why i like mac and urban decay because they have all the colours of the rainbow to buy! then of course i listen to reviews too. i have bought items from high end brands and been very dissapointed. so i now know it's not all about the money that you drop on something either!

and my product of choice are mac pigments. i love everything that you can do with them and the amount of colours there are to buy! such an awesome product!

I agree Anita! You do hear raves about certain products of a certain line and that is what draws us in. Still, I find myself quickly checking out those blushes, even if no one has mentioned them!

hee hee! i know! i am terrible! i might do a challenge where i use nothing but pigments on my face. apart from foundation and setting powder of course! could be fun!

Fun! For me, I tend to hit the lippies first (because lipstick and gloss are my beauty addiction!), although if there's a palette or cult product I've been hearing rave reviews on, that may draw me in as well. If I don't like a brand's lip stuff, I will rarely venture forward.

Hmm, the one item is tough - my complexion is a bit blotchy so I rely a lot on my foundations, even though they may be sheer, but I have to say that I feel naked with mascara! Even with clear lip balm your lips can look "finished", and I can get pretty rosy naturally with just a pinch of my cheeks, so I think that mascara would be the finisher! So, fave products = lippies, but could not live without mascara. Still searching for my HG mascara formula, though!

hmm i usually try a product which is a cult favourite. like nars and their orgasm blush. tts how i will start.. bt if i were to pick a product, it will be lipsticks cos i just love them! also they are usually not as expensive as a blush so to me, it makes the most sense to start on a cheaper item.

for the one item i cannot live without, it would probably be blush! its weird, before i came to this forum, i didnt own a single blush. and now i have about 8 of them! bt i love hw blush can make you look so rosy and sweet!

yeah i always like to try cult favourite products! in fact my first nars product was orgasm blush! it is a must for everybody!
