MAC Quite Cute Discussion

I went to Mac Pro in Toronto and picked up Quite Cute stuff and a couple of other odds and ends.
From QC I bought:
Sakura
Quite Cute
Playing Koi
Naked
In Synch

I thought I was going to get Miss Behave but when I swatched it, I found it to be a less pigmented version of Sex Appeal from NARS which I already own. The quad was a lot nicer than I was expecting and swatched pretty well, too. I debated buying it but went for a mega metal shadow and permanent line shadow instead. The plush glasses were of no interest to me and I already have dupes for all the polishes so I didn't look at any of those. CYY is totally gorgeous but Barry M makes a perfect dupe which I already own (and which was super cheap!)
Overall, I was really pleased with the collection and everything I got! I posted some swatches in the Swatch forum too

Ugh.. i'm disappointed.
Got Quite Cute and PlayTime delivered today..

Quite Cute looks TERRIBLE on me.. holy yuk! Im NW25 and hoped against hope that it would work..and on its own? not so much..i think this might be good to tone down another color.. I tried to blend it with PlayTime and created an unattractive disaster with it..

Just yuk!

yay1 congrats! haul haul to celebrate!!!!

I was just hired as a MAC Freelancer and I'm eagerly awaiting the paperwork to go through so I can get my employee ID number already...but I'm so excited for this collection!! I want so much stuff. I haven't been this excited for a MAC collection in a really long time and I want to haul, haul, haul to celebrate my new job

How crazy would I be if I still order Sakura blush, Boldly Bare lipliner, and I <3 U plushglass on the day they're released, even if I don't have my discount card yet? I just don't want them to sell out, but you know like the day after I order I'll get the call that my paperwork went through. I think I'm the only one hoping that this doesn't go up online too early!

As for the collection, I'm thinking of getting Candy Yum Yum and either Giggly or Sakura blushes depending on how they swatch on me. I still can't make up my mind on only one of the nail lacquers though. I want all three! I may just end up buying all three. LOL!

Well, I went to the pro store and my grand haul is... Play Time. Seriously, I bought one item. I'm still thinking about Miss Behave and Sakura, because the lighting in the pro store isn't very good. Miss Behave didn't show any colour and the sheen looked nice, but nothing different than other highlighters I have. Sakura likewise didn't look like anything I hadn't seen before. Based on T's photos, I'd expected Candy Yum-Yum to be a little cooler in tone, but it looked more like a bright Barbie pink on me. Didn't look nearly as nice as other hot pinks I have. Quite Cute looked gross with a light application and like Lavender Whip when I applied more. I hate light, cool colours when I can see my lip colour poking through. Playing Koi looked like concealer on my lips... The quad was nice and I'm still considering it, but I found Moshi Moshi kind of gritty and Boy Crazy really doesn't have much colour payoff. The pink shade is nice and Adzuni Bean is beautiful. I figure I have a week to think about it before the collection launches in regular stores. Still... only one item... there must be something wrong...

I have both of those, plus Style Curve and, thinking that it was similar, I swatched SC, QTT and Play Time on my arm. Play Time is lighter, cooler and more purple (rather than magenta) than the others, so I found it distinct enough to warrant buying. Riveting Rose is a lot darker than any of them. I'll swatch all four for you tomorrow when I can get some good natural light.

You'd think we'd be grateful that we won't break the bank on a collection, but it's really disappointing (to me, at least). It seems like a majority of this collection is a massive misfire. Looks good on paper, but poor in execution, which to me, really is reminiscent of Sugar Sweet. I keep flip flopping on CYY. How did it feel on your lips and did it show all the imperfections?

this is so true. i tried again last night to wear quite cute but this time with naked as a liner all over my lips. once again it looked patchy and almost like i had been eating or drinking and half the lipstick had worn away in places! is it just me or is anybody else having issues getting this bitch on evenly?!

I am honestly skipping this entire collection. From the swatches I've seen from videos and blogs I can easily do a 'color hack' of what I want which was CYY.

If any one who has candy yum yum has time, could you please do some comparison swatches with other hot pink lipsticks? I'm just wondering how different it is form others. I can't seem to get a good feel for the color. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
