Re: Sales tax -- it depends on the state. Many (if not most) U.S. states require companies to collect sales tax if they do business in the state. (A couple states have no sales tax entirely.)
Amazon just closed a distribution center here in Texas because the state was trying to force it to collect sales tax from all customers in Texas. And companies have been yanking affiliate programs in states that consider affiliate programs "doing business" in the state. Here in Texas, the customers are supposed to pay the sales tax to the state themselves, but no one ever actually does that.
My guess is that if someone is being charged tax on Chanel.com, it is because Chanel has something in that state -- a warehouse or offices.
As for the summer collection.... I haven't decided! I may just wait until it gets to the slow Macy's counter here, because gas is really too expensive to make the trip into Dallas to go to Nordie's just to buy makeup. I'm waffling on the quad, and I'm seriously rethinking Mimosa because I heard it's trouble to apply. Depending on how sheer the glossimers turn out, I may pass on those too -- I have so many sheer glossimers already!
I shall have to see how I feel once I see everything. I did make a huge Sephora haul (hello, ridiculous number of Illamasqua products, UD BoS III and MUFE Moulin Rouge) with the VIB code, so, really, I should just pass on this collection. (Yeah right!)
