Thanks! That knocks Smoked Ruby off my list. Why don't you have a blog?

hehe, I've thought about it, but I'd rather hang out here in a forum, because then you feel like you're talking to makeup friends instead of just talking at yourself. I'm a writer for a living so I already have plenty of that, lol.

does anyone know what karla (karlasugar) does to get her swatches so vibrant? she says she uses no primer so what does she do?!

She said she applied them dry, so first off, she has really good color balance on her camera and good natural light. Then, for these shadows, I'm sure she patted the color on either in layers or maybe in a really thick swipe, but for sure she used a thick, firm brush and didn't blend! These MES don't do well with circular blending at all.

Believe me, trying these with a base, we got the colors super dense and vibrant - even more than in her swatches. It's like night and day with a lot of them!

I just looked at Karla's swatches.... I think I just want Dark Indulgence and Blue Sheen, and I should be good.

I should never have looked at Karla's swatches. Now I want two of the MES. I was only gonna get Pearl and pink MSF. But now I'm adding Rare find and Smoked Ruby. I had no desire to get smoked ruby until I saw Karla's swatch. It's gonna be a bigger haul then I had planned. Smoked Ruby looks so hot though.

Maybe limited yourself to just one brush, though if you get the kabuki, it will still be a lot of $$$. Just evaluate what brushes you have in your stash, and more important, which ones you use on a daily basis. E.g., if you don't use your existing kabuki now, then you probably don't need the duo-side one.
When I called my store to double check the date I asked the ma about the brushes. She basically said the same thing. She said that she had not tried this one but that she never used the one that she did have and didn't sound impressed. I like the look of this one and the slant but I never use my kabuki either. So I need to be realistic and skip it.

I'm happy to say that Karla's swatches don't make me want to add anything to my list...which is good, since I srsly need to keep it down.

I usually use a 239 for everything, but I've always gotten the feeling there's another brush out there that'd work way better with all my Mineralize shadows. Maybe the 242 or 249 or 214. I think the LE brushes in this collection will be extra good for them.

Oh man, yesterday I bumbed in a MA, and she told me that Semi-Precious is coming out on the 7th only - instead of tomorrow, the 1st! The deliveries are late, she said. And I'm out of the country next week!! Anyone in France, do you know when Semi-Precious is coming out in France?

right i am going to be good and skip the kabuki. i spoke to Erin yesterday who said that she doesn't find the brushes that amazing and when i asked if i needed this kabuki as well as my others she said no. so i always trust her judgement so i shall be skipping :)

did she say why she wouldn't recommend the kabuki? I love applying foundation with my standard kabuki and thought that the different hairs on this kabuki might give me different coverage/finish?

does anybody know if pure magnificence is a dupe for fashion scoop?

after seeing karlas swatches (which are amazing!) I now defo want unsurpassable. It looks almost duochrome, like a Nubar polish i love. The more I see swatches the more I think I need to go into store and request shadows with lots of veins or in the case of clarity very little black veining....I think they are going to be cursing me by the time I leave!!!

i love karla's swatches, as always. but they are so different from blog to blog, i keep going back and forth on what to buy. i definitely want a msf, either pink crystal or rose quartz.
i'll also check out gem of roses ls but i have been in a lipstick lull for months and rarely wore them.
now the mes i will have to swatch in the store, all of them. i am so unsure..
i really like rare find though, it reminds me of the azuki bean (?) es from the quite cute quad which i didn't get since that was the only color i liked.
from karla's swatches i like unsurpassable, hint of sapphire and clarity. smoked ruby looks amazing too but i doubt i'll ever wear this color (although i believe it would really make my blue eyes pop!)
anyways, i'll have to wait til monday as my store is the only one which did not get this collection in yet.. :(

Karla's swatches are just amazing! I've added another eyeshadow to my list now grrr her! Haha!
So my list is now
Mineral Mode
Unsurpassable
Jades Fortune
Clarity (this doesn't look very different to JF in Karla's swatches but in others JF looks more green)
Golden Gaze
Rare Find
Gem of Roses
Geo Pink
MSF Pearl
MSF Rose Quartz

I'm not getting the brushes because I have lots of brushes already and they work so I don't need these new fangled versions... unless they get AMAZING reviews but it is unlikely. I would rather have products than more brushes. I've just ordered the Bobbi Brown Tortoise Shell Brush Set anyway for travel purposes. Of the Bobbi brushes I have I love them so thought I'd try these, especially as they are small.
