MAC - Semi Precious Discussion

Yeah well, I did spend a small fortune on this collection, mind! :) But it is £18 less than if I had bought them from Mac, so I'm happy to wait.

Thats true - I guess I'm just really impatient! LOL! Plus I want my things to come before thursday as I'm going to Selfridges to see everything in person and I wanted to play with the mes's before falling in love with a shade and deciding to buy another :) And woah £18 worth of points! That is totally worth it!

I'm the sort that if I buy it, I keep it. I won't buy anything I think won't look good on me and then turn around and return it. Even if you return something unopened, it has to get sent back, so just imagine if there was some popular LE item that you were reacting to based on hype, then turned around and brought back - that's another person who would have looked great in it getting denied from a chance to have it for themselves. I'm totally OK with the stores being more careful about who they will do holds for, specifically for this reason.

What I do to minimize this for myself is I have one store I go to come hell or high water, even if it's more convenient for me to pop into a different MAC store or counter that particular day. Everyone knows me there and they all know I love them and give them my loyal business. They know my habits - how I like to come in and take my sweet time trying everything out in store before buying because I won't come back with returns and how I will spend all my money at their store instead of running all over town. Because of this, they're very willing to give me generous samples when they can for iffy stuff I need to try out (I have every Big Bounce color because of this), call me up and let me play around in their back room for hours when the collections come in, etc. It's certainly a you scratch my back I'll scratch yours situation, but the nice thing is my store manager and a lot of the MAs are really great people too, and hey - you can never have enough makeup buddies!!!

If we had a Debenhams in town, I'd definitely be getting a card, but if you can only spend the points instore there's no point.

I don't mind if delivery does take a day or two longer, as long as I get everything I ordered.

today my brushes have arrived! I have taken some pictures but I still have to photograph my 128 because I've used an then washed it!
first impressions: they are flat and really fluffy (it's so fluffyyyyyyyyyyyyyy by "despicable me")
they are not meant to use on point but you have to use one side or the other (I have to change my habits with them).
234: it looks a bit like the 217, it can be also used on point, it's a blending brush, I'll probably try it with concealer on the synthetic side!
235: I really like this one! I'll probably use the synthetic side with paint pots or cream eyeshadow and IMO can be also used to highlight the brow bone.
128: I still have to test this one in a better way. I have used it with My paradise and it has taken a lot of overspray ^__^' it's a bit smaller than the apples of my cheeks and it's not good for blending, it's better for packing on color..powder and cream!!
179: probably I will use it as a normal buffer brush (but I don't have any buffer so I haven't wasted my money). also this one can be of course used on point and it blends perfectly... I really needed a buffer brush!! Probably it is also good to blend the contour because of its angled shape... I still don't know how to use the duo side with this!

I totally agree with you. I only buy if I'm certain that I'll wear it. Otherwise it stays in the store for another customer. I never returned any make up. Obviously, it's different if you live in a remote location where you depend on online shopping - but even then I would probably only order products where I was sure that they would suit me.

^True one of the other reasons that I want my order to come soon is just in case I don't get everything I ordered in case it had sold out - I can than just buy in store on thursday

Can you try it with an MSF (if you have any of the older MFS)?

I don't have a counter or store near me, so I just have to hope that nothing sells out online if by any chance something from this order doesn't arrive.

I'm looking out for this collection online so I can place an order on one item or wait until Thursday to pick up my goodies.

I was really on the fence with My Paradise and Tan Tint when I got those, but I just played with them until I made them work for me and of course, now that I've got a little tan going from being outdoors, they work so much better. I thought about returning them originally because they weren't cheap, by any means, but I just couldn't bring myself to and now I actually have some cool products that are different than anything else I own and do some fun tricks my usual stuff can't.
