MAC - Semi Precious Discussion

Brushes are a great idea. I always feel guilty about spending so much on them, but if I get one for free then great! I will have to look at the MAC site & pick which one I want before going to the store. Like I said, my boys are particularly "energetic" today, and I know that they won't sit still while I look at makeup.

Edit: I think that I will get a 213 & 168. That will put me just over $50.

This sounds wonderful. Do you need any new brushes? A brush and a new l/s should get you over $50.

I know it wont be exact but do you have any ideas for a dupe of Faux Gold? I knew I should have gotten it with my last order, but damn pesky rent prevented me from it.

Clarity over a dark base is awesome!! I tried it with the #1 mufe aquacream and Prance, instant smokey eye! LOVES. I cant wait to try it with HP from The Bloggers Collection.

Try Milani Baked eyeshadows. They have a few that look super similar to some of the available swatches.

It's been a really long time since I've hit the MAC store, but the mineralized products get me every year! I walked in planning on getting Mineral Mode, but walked out with that and Rare Find. Picked a Rare Find with lots of pink veining and a darker Mineral Mode.
Mineral Mode was on my original list and I was really looking forward to it, but on me it was this weird pink colour, not a champagne colour as I was hoping. Maybe it was the tester. Rare Find is a really great colour, especially if you have lots of pink in it. Btw, which base are you guys using for the MES? I tried the NARS base, a shadestick and no base at all and I never liked the results :dunno:

have you tried a paint pot?
Not yet. next on my list, but I am generally not a huge fan of them. Thanks for the tip though.

I use UD original primer all over my eye area, followed by a paint pot on just the lower lid, and finally MES wet (MAC fix). This combo seems to work really well on my skin. I also keep the MES confined to the lid area & maybe a little in the crease to get a smokey eye. Most of the time my main crease color is texture or SNS & highlight is something like blanc type or rice paper.
Thanks, I need to give this a try. Today I wore Red Ruby with Vintage Violet and liked the result, maybe a pp works for Golden Gaze as well.

I caved this weekend and bought Dark Indulgence to complete my collection -- I now own all of the Semi-Precious eyeshadows.

I know DI is dupeable, which is why I put it off, but...

Yeah. I went nuts on this collection -- no more MAC for me for a while! Luckily, I only want a couple of things from Mac Me Over, because this really busted my makeup budget for a while!

I cant believe quartz fusion is sold out! :O it haf the worst reviews and weird glitter bomb!

I think it is a very beautiful e/s. It is more on the glittery, but certainly you can work with it if you get good veining. I know a few people who bought BU's of QF, so I think it is still a popular shade once you get past (and ignore) the collectively bad reviews from various bloggers.

I dont care about reviews but the glitter is was turns me off. The color is ok, and it could be worked, but just the glitter could be less chunky IMO

I'll still use it though.
