MAC - MAC Me Over Discussion

Man, after seeing more and more swatches pop up in the blogosphere... I'm thinking about the Lady Grey quad now... :( This is actually the most I've bought from a MAC collex in a long time, I've been so uninterested in them lately. Not sure if I'm happy or sad (for my wallet) about that.

So I got my 226 from Nordstrom shipped to my house today. (Yay!!) Unbelievably whoever packed my brushes taped down the end of the plastic sleeve but in doing so they bent the bristles almost in half. Why in the world would anyone do this? I cannot believe anyone would lack so much common sense. Ugh!!! Anyone else have this problem? I called customer service and they offered to exchange it but since they are sold out that's not an option. She did give me permission to wash it and if that doesn't work I'd still be allowed to return it. Does anyone know if the bristles will straighten out on its own or should I just return it?
:-( crazy. I think mine will come the same way because they shipped the other part xof my order seperately and it was taped down. Im so not looking forward to receiving this brush knowing it might come with a horrible bent shape :-\

I would try to wash it. Unless the bristles are permanently damaged (in which case I would return it immediately), they should go back into their original shape. I hope it works out for you.

I've bent the bristles of my brush before and it was fine after I washed it. Just reshape it and as an extra measure, tear off a small piece of paper towel and wrap it around the bristles and lay the brush flat while it dries.

I went back to my MAC on thursday (after being at pro the week before) and hauled another 226 and another Good Times l/g because I love it!
It might be overkill, but after experiencing the magic of the 226, I convinced myself I needed 3 ...just in case.

Even though it doesn't seem like Good Times has been that popular on here, I think it's a gorgeous mauve-y nude. Pro was already down to 5 when I got mine (and that was the early release date). I had to get a backup because I rarely find a lipgloss that love.

So sorry to hear this. I got my brushes from Norstrom 2 days ago and mine were taped the same way. No bent bristles though. Hope washing it works out for you.

I had same trouble with 242, it got almost perfect after 1 wash but not quite, after several washes though there wasn`t any bend, it was good

Damn after reading all these posts about the bristles coming bent I'm now wondering if I will get mine from Macy's in the same condition

What sux is that I won't be home when it comes in (due to me being in the city) so I won't get to exchange it for another one. I hope it doesn't *crosses fingers*

wow, my brush looks like a mix of the 2, and i got mine from the mac makeup art cosmetics collection. Crown brush's C139 is also a good dupe for this brush. They are like $2.50 from Crown, and very good quality. I hauled a few a while ago before talk of the 226 coming back out. So I don't think I am going to get the 226 this time. I feel like this brush should be a permanent brush. I would love to see a shorter 217 as well.

Mine is "in the middle" too. I'm glad I don't have one with an extremely pointy tip as I would not like that in a brush.

I definitely have to layer Stunner, but the color is beautiful. I yet have to try it with the 128, which sounds like a good idea given how dense the brush is and how well it works with less-pigmented MB's. The 128 should be a good pick for Stunner.

I haven't had to really layer stunner at all. I am quite pale, though. I use the 116 to tap it on to my cheek, and then blend it out.

Interesting pics of the 2009 vs 2011 versions of the 226. I don't have the 2009 version. I am really happy with the ones I got though. They're definitely not pointy, but they're not round, either. They're not as fluffy as the 224, a bit more densely packed. It fits into my crease perfectly. I'd say that mine are in between the two brushes in the photo.

I looked at Temptalia's post of the original 226, and it didn't look very pointy there.
