i'm in agreement with you both. :) and i certainly agree on skin tone recs - that to me is crazy because people can make different things work in different ways.

I agree that the skin tone recs are definitely subjective. I think a lot of bloggers who do that don't really have experience with a wide range of skin tones and they are just going off of what is supposed to work. However, I can see why they would do it. Temptalia, for example always got questions like "I'm NC/NW...what would you recommend". I honestly don't need anyone to tell me what looks good on me, but those people are out there.

I hardly think that's what the issue is here. NONE of the U.S. based bloggers got sent samples (that we've seen), and each of them were varied in their reviews of certain products.
maybe I'm translating in a bad way your sentence (sometimes it can happens, I'm italian XD)... but I though that Christine, Karen and xsparkage got mac samples... not entire collections, but they got samples before the launch ^^

Most of the time, some of the blogs do get samples before the collection launch. No one but MAC knows why they did not for this collection. Anyway, the colors are nice but I will not be buying any of the paint pots. I just want the Mattenes.

Woh I dont get on specktra for a day and we got swatches! Half Wild is insanely gorg! Thankfully the only ones I'm interested in is Half Wild and Imaginary (blue purple duochrome got me!). Pure Creation is pretty but I dont wear blues often. Def dissapointed in chunky Geniuine Treasure, what a letdown

Cant wait to see the mattenes and the gold polish! Did anyone see that MAC tote on the site? I want! But bad timing, I dont have enough money in my account, hope it doesnt sell quick

I think I'm going to end up with all the paint pots except Nubile and Idyllic. I'm waiting for great quality swatches.

ahah same here! half wild and imaginary for sure... pure creation maybe won't suit my brown eyes and yellow undertones.... I don't know it looks like a cool medium blue... I would have taken it if it had golden shimmer! In that way a light blue or medium blue suits me better!

From the swatches these definitely look more like they are meant to be used as cream eye shadows and not just bases.
None of them are initially wow-ing me - but maybe more swatches/reviews will change that. I'm more excited about the ones Shiseido is launching. The formula/texture sounds more modern to me.

Yeah, seriously need to see the texture on these and also check on if they crease or cake up. Do you have a good link talking about the Shiseido ones?

As you have a great tan, you can really rock a blue p/p and then tone it up or down with an e/s, MES, or piggie.

Heheh, it's still showing as "coming soon" on Pro. This will be one hot item.

I will be looking forward to your review as well.

It has been a shame that there has not been alot of swatches out there on this collection leading up to its release. I usually depend on temptalia to get my fix, but i have started finding a few other blogs and information in this forums that is giving me at times a better opinion. I take more notice of a review or swatch done on a smiliar skin tone to my own, because im so pale there is a vast difference in how stuff works for me... but in saying that i have learnt over the years the best colours and shades that work for me.

Blogs and forums open the world of swatches and personal opinion that i value, more so that a shop assistant trying to sell me something that they want or need to make a sale on.

i can't wait to hear what you think of the collection! :)

Even though someone already answered for me pretty on target, I'll just clarify anyway. I meant that none of the U.S. bloggers that we're familiar with got sent any samples for this collection (that we've seen or heard). Each of their reviews for the MMO products were varied for the most part, so I hardly think that any bad reviews is what caused them not to get sent anything from Posh Paradise. There could be any number of reasons, reasons I couldn't begin to wonder about.

Yes, it's a bit too late for samples, especially as Pros can buy the collection from Thu onward. I try to get to Mac tomorrow or Thu.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you is right. The reason why a lot of bloggers don't say anything negative is that when their blogs are successful, the stand to make thousands per month, receive lucrative buy-out offers and get oceans of free products.

Cosmetic companies prefer, well LOVE, blogs as opposed to forums because they have are able to control the blogger. It's unspoken, but it's there. There are a good number of bloggers who want their blog to be successful, make money and receive samples. In fact, a lot of bloggers depend on this relationship for a living. If a blogger starts to get a bit too negative too often with a certain cosmetic co, the cosmetic co PR folks will start to get stingy with samples, press releases and hold back info. Then the blog lags behind in info and popularity, looses readers and eventually looses money. Back to that control element, most of the big bloggers approve all of the comments posted on their site. In other words, they pick and chose whose voice gets to be heard. Blogs are a lot like reality TV, as in it's ALL EDITING. They decide what opinions and comments about a certain cosmetic company's products get heard.

I am not saying that all blogs are like this. Not by any means. You can tell which ones are, though. I could absolutely call someone out here, but I will bite my tongue. I love to support those who do it for the love of it.

Cosmetic companies don't tend to embrace forum boards because there is too much freedom to express dissenting opinions. Blogs, on the other hand can be sculpted into what is essentially a commercial for the cosmetic companies (if the blogger chooses to take it in that direction). I prefer forum-based sites like Specktra for that very reason. I have always had a great appreciation and fondness for MAC, but when they piss me off, I say something and on Specktra I can do that.
