For some reason, I see you more with blue/purple n/p rather than gold, but I'm sure you will like this one. It's the n/p version of the gold in the STO stack. Did you receive it yet?

I just got an invite to my closest freestanding store for the 20th. It will cover Posh Paradise, Fall Out With Cindy (aka Fall with MAC) and Styledriven. I'm all over it!

Actually, this isn't common practice. At least where I am.

The counters hardly give you any information if they don't *know* you. They're just there to provide you with what you are looking for and no hint as to what is coming nor offer to set it aside. Same deal with the f/s stores.

Again this isn't with all f/s stores and counters, just my experience.

I'm going to see if I get my invite in the mail. If not, I might try to get to my freestanding store Tuesday while I'm out or Saturday. I really want to go and see the fall collections and get my stuff early. The store manager told me to call if I didn't get my invite, but I mean business so I am going to show up and talk to him. Any ideas on what to do with Nubile and Treasure Hunt eyeshadows? I have my own ideas, but I love to hear what combinations other people are doing/planning on doing.

So far I know I'll use Gorgeous Gold/Dazzlelight e/s and Golden Lemon pigment with Treasure Hunt and Paradisco/Da Bling/All That Glitters e/s and Melon pigment w/ Nubile.

I certainly meant that the counter knows you and that you are prepared to spend some serious $$$. If somebody just wants to preview but then orders online only, it's clear that this was probably the last preview this person had at this store.

So yes, I still believe it is common practice as long as you built up a good relationship with your store (and several of the MUA's) and make the majority of the purchases at this particular store. If they have items on preview, they will also have the collection in stock and they can put the items aside (and the MUA usually puts her/his name on it so s/he gets the commission).

If you are calling the MAC store in South Coast Plaza, then yes it sounds familiar to me. They are very shady about divulging info on the phone. They always claim to not know when or if a product is coming out, but then they will tell you about their event & ask you to sign up. I have tried to call them before about products and have never gotten a straight answer. On the other hand the pro store in downtown LA is very helpful and always answers my questions.

So I called MAC Pro again, just for kicks. If you recall, when I called them earlier in the week the person on the phone said the collection hits their store on the 30th...uhm ya, they were trying to just promote the event they were having for the line that day me thinks.

Anyway I called again yesterday because I knew that wasn't right and this time someone else answered the phone. Interestingly this person said that company policy tells them not to reveal dates of release on the phone anymore...all she could tell me was that it was not in store as of yesterday and that their event for this collection is on the 30th...She said this policy was in place because sometimes collections are released early/late.

Has anyone else been told this??

So exactly when are this collection & Styledriven being released? Is it this week or next week? I am getting confused, and MAC CS is no help. They just told be to sign up for their text or email alert service. LOL!

This one should absolutely be coming out this week, since many Pro stores had it on the 8th.

I sometimes wish I had brown eyes so I could wear any shade of blue... My blue eyes look so dull next to anything blue around the eyes. I thought the blue PPs look sooooo pretty. I am for sure getting half-wild and one of the golds. I'm not sure what else would look good with blue eyes? (think blue sky color- sometimes neon)

With "out earlier," I mean that the store has the display in the back of the store. It's usually not open to the public, but "by invitation" for those who buy a lot. It definitely helps to establish a good relation with the store to get this privilege.

Ok I thought you meant out for sale. Yeh of course I get calls and such. If I have a long list of items the regional trainer told me a long time ago to just email him and he would pull it, such as the VV collection my list was quite long. Usually I just call one of the ma's I know and they will pull my items for me. If I'm in there they will show me everything.

There's one ma that went from a counter that is closer to me to working at the store. Even when he was at the counter and I called as soon as I ask a question he would say "oh hi -----" I don't know how he remembers my name as I mainly bought from a couple other ma's but I suppose I did talk to him a bit also. I just think it's funny he knows my voice on the phone.

I find this strange for a MAC store, but my counter has events a week to 2 weeks after a release. I guess they feel its better to highlight and do it big with all the fall collections at once, especially since VV was so successful last fall. After these collections its holiday and after that its Dec. 26th.

This event is at a f/s store thats why I find it strange. Maybe its been pushed back to the 20th After all its only 5 days.
