Hey guys, no one has really said this from what I've seen. I just got my Half Wild pp in the mail this morning. When I swatched it, I noticed it is much drier than all my other paint pots. Is this normal?

I should mention that my top was cracked. I did call MAC and they are sending me another one, but I wanted to see if this was normal for Half Wild.
Half-Wild was fine for me. Hyperviolet was actually the one that swatched drier out of the bunch.

I posted some application opinions earlier. First off, for sure if you're using lip balm first, make sure it's really absorbed into the lips before applying the mattenes. I'm not a big fan of applying lip balm underneath Mattenes, though, and for sure don't bother with lip pencil. A primer that forms a smooth second skin over your lips could probably give you good results, though, just as long as you really let it set well first.

Then, what I do is apply one medium layer from the tube, keeping my lips good and stretched, making sure not to go back over areas I already covered. For Potent Fig, Seeds of Desire and the style black ones, you just have to be brave and do that one layer and let it dry down allllll the way. They look really patchy but then smooth out and look fine once they dry down. It's a little bit of a pain, because if you even close your lips, they won't dry down smoothly - you have to let them set with your lips slightly parted or else you get a patch on the lower lip where the coverage rubs off before it sets, then you're stuck adding another layer and that's when they get all crumbly and settling into lip lines and feel too drying.

3 minutes of sitting still with your mouth hanging open like a porn star may or may not be worth the dark loveliness of the super dark mattenes, but that plus applying one even layer on faith are the two big hurdles. I think it's totally worth it, but then again I love Mattenes.
I will blot off any extra balm before I apply. I will try your method when my lips are feeling better. That's what I used to have to do with those paint on lipsticks when they first hit the market. I've read mixed reviews on different lip primers, but I'm thinking it may be worth a shot. Even if it doesn't work with the mattenes, I could make it work with other formulas.

Thanks so much!

I got my tiny haul of Nubile and Naked Bliss last night. I agree with paint pot dryness mentioned above - Nubile feels drier and less creamy than any of my other paint pots ( I have Painterly, Soft Ochre, and Greenstroke). It still applies well, just feels different in the pot. I apply with my finger, so know how it feels by touch.

Naked Bliss is interesting. The color is slightly "meh" on me (I had been hoping it was a near dupe for my beloved Marquis D, which I'm running out of ) but the formula is kind of cool. It's got a weird creamy waxiness to it. I love the tube it comes in, very matte, solid feeling with a good strong click when you close it.

Everyone's saying the mattenes are creamy smooth and light, but I find the ones that I own (Potent Fig, Night Violet, and the black one) to be wayyy too drying, and they settle into lines really bad. If I remove and try to reapply, it goes all chunky. They go on nice, but as soon as they've dried down, prune lips..

Any application tips? Should I try a primer? I've tried using liner, using clear liner, applying with a brush, applying from the tube, blotting, etc..

Buy a bottle of pure glycerine from your local drugstore. Apply one drop over your lips and wait until it seeps into the skin. Then apply the lipstick.

Simpler way, of course, is to apply chapstick first, under the lipstick. But the color won't last as long that way.

My Half Wild is VERY creamy. Yours must have had an air leak.

Just a quick mini review/thought: While I love the color of imaginary pp, I have to say that as a base it really doesn't do much other than darken :( It didn't really make my blue e/s or purple e/s pop the way I wanted it to and I tried using it a few different ways, with different e/s on top.

Peacocky is also my fav MAC collection! I wish I would have grabbed more colors. And a couple backups, I didnt think i'd need them since they are so big but I can see my Dalliance and Prance dwindling fast.

I have had my p/p's for a week now and am just now getting to say my thoughts on them. I've just been really tired lately :( Anyways...

Treasure Hunt- OMG my FAVORITE! I'm considering a backup. I've been using it almost every day. My job is requiring us to have makeup thats minimal so I've been doing more neutral looks. This is perfect for that, it gives a neutral eye a glam kick. And it seems to lighten up the color of my eyes as well. I am in love!

Ginuine Treasure- I'm glad I didnt pass on this after the blah reviews it got at first. I have been using this for neutral looks as well. I love using it on my lower lashline. It gives my neutral shadows a sparkly iridecence.

Half-Wild- With a purple nut like me I thought i'd be in love, but I'm not sure what I think yet. I too have found it to be kind of dry. And I thought it would be purpler. It's more of a purple plum color. I def got to play with it more. I'm not ready to give up on it just yet!

Imaginary- I havent got to play with it much, but it is a very pretty color. It will be great for ultra dark smokey looks. I also think it will be really great as a liner.

Naked Bliss Mattene- Not my hg nude I was hoping for, but its nice.

I am still waiting on my Pure Creation and Shimmermoss e/s to come in the mail. I had to get it later cause I had bought my other colors when Pure Creation wasnt on the mac site yet. I am still thinking of maybe getting Idyllic. What are you guys thinking of it?

Ginuine Treasure+Dalliance (both on lid)+Hocus Pocus (outer crease)+Dark envy f/l= LOVE

Treasure Hunt (on lid)+Spectacle of Yourself (blended out on outer crease)+Avenue f/l= Awesome neutral eye

Got my Pure Creation p/p today, it is stunning. I put Shimmermoss, Lucky Green, and Stars and Rockets over it when I swatched them on my hand. They all look great.
I kept rubbing my swatches with my finger and these p/p's dont budge. Loving this collection!

And dunno if anyone posted that Karla has her swatches up.

Is this definitely out first week of October for the UK or is it next week as that flows into October at the end of the week? Need to grab all paint pots!

It's always the first Thursday of the month, sometimes if that falls onto the 1st, then online might be the following Tuesday (rather than the previous). Next month the first Thursday is the 6th, so it will be online the Tuesday before.
