Chanel Foundations & Concealers

I have tried the Perfection Lumiere in B30 for 2 days now and I prefer Vitalumiere Aqua. I feel like PL made me look a little aged. Probably because it is heavier the VA.

Something lighter than this foundation? That blows my mind. I wish the VA shade range was wider.

I'm SO behind on everything Chanel (trying to catch up!) but I got an e-mail about this new foundation and came here right away to read about it!

I love the idea of a long wearing foundation, but they always seem to make my face look like I painted it with chalk and stuck my face in some sand. How is the staying power of this one? Is it super dry? Will I look like I stuck my face into sand? Does it smell good?

I'm stuck at home with no car for a few days (mine's in the shop and the hubs is away on a work trip with his), so I can't check it out in person yet. Maybe I should just order it and give it a try? I may not have my car but I have my CC, lol!

OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH!!!!! I am SOOOOOO happy that you are finally back!!!!!! Don't leave again...please. Gone for a couple of days & come back with such a nice surprise!

I haven't worn it long enough to see if it dried my skin out. All Chanel products smell divine.

And, because I am getting tired of waiting for the Velvets....I got Bobbi Browns Mod Pink ls which is so so pretty on. Its a brighter but not in a bad way rosy cherry pink pink! Its so face brightening & I don't think I have another pink quite like this.

Also, I got a sample of the new Lancome (I have never ever used anything Lancome) Visionnaire & I am really loving it. its for even skintone, pores & wrinkles. I actually am seeing a smoothness & clarity to my skin.

It's definitely 'orangey' in hue. But I found that if I dot Peau Vierge ON TOP of it (not under it), it neutralizes the orange completely. Same with the Tinted Illuminizer from Rock & Republic. So I'm thinking that any 'illuminizing' primer would work if you either mix it with the foundation or apply it afterwards. It did not work when I put the illuminizer on FIRST. I think this formulation likes to adhere directly to your skin, without any barrier in between.

I love Chanel's Base Lumiere. Do you think that will work if I mix it with this foundation? *prays that you say yes*

I felt like it looked a little aging on me too vs my Future Skin, but I read on MUA that someone's MA told her it needs to be applied immediately after your moisturizer without waiting for the moisturizer to absorb...which kind of goes along with what Ingenue is saying too as the two probably mix that way. I'll experiment some more with it.

Thanks for the welcome back - I'm so happy to see you! I was freaking out a bit without Specktra and I'm so glad everything is working for me again.

I'm hoping this foundation will work for me but I'm scared about the color match! Which color matches the best for you? I feel like throwing away my entire stash of "not really working for me but I'm using it anyway for unknown reasons" foundation and powders and starting from scratch and this seems like a good place to start. By the way, am I the only one with that stash? Why do I even keep it?!?! Ugh, lol.

Winthrop - I still need to try that Future Skin!

I tried to mix the foundation with a little of Mac's Sun Rush lustre drops and that seemed to reduce the orange, but I only tried it on the back of my hand. I need to put it on my face and see what happens.

The only think I'd worry about with the Lustre drops is the amount of gold in them. That might not really neutralize that orange. I was looking at Fresh's Twilight stuff and was wondering if that might work.

:hmm: I guess I'll look into that, too. I'm really open to anything that will help because I really want to buy this stuff.

Heeeey, I just thought about my favorite brand: Mufe. They have colored primers. The caramel one looks really dark, but they have a yellow one that might help(?).

I got samples of Beige 10 & Beige Rose 12. The BR12 looked more natural on me. The Beige 10 is more yellow based, but does neutralize the blues & redness.

Geesh - I am embarrassed to say how much of that kind of stash I have

and that is after 2 rounds of purging

Chanel has coloured primers too, from the White Essentiel range, Asia exclusive, I guess. They come in Rosee (pink), Mimosa (beige) and Azur (light blue). A few years ago they came out a green one, but it was LE. I never bought any, because I prefer to skip primer, but I tried samples of them and like them.

Actually, what you'd need is the blue one. It'll neutralize that orange. I have the caramel (which I use to darken shades and add orange) and the yellow and they didn't do much at all. Mix it with a little of the blue primer and I bet it'll cool that orange right on down.

Just got back from being color matched and I'm pleasantly surprised at the Perfection Lumiere. Unlike the fiasco I had with MAC my Chanel MUA listened to everything I said regarding being color matched and my skin in general, exacerbated recently by me starting retinol treatment and having an initial purge. Told her the Ambre shades would be way too dark and I'd more than likely be a Beige Ambre 44-64, and lo and behold BA 54 was a perfect match! Felt like nothing at all was on my face. It was a little light at first application (and also due to having the new Muscade powder on), but the MUA said it'd oxidize slightly darker and if I wasn't planning on tanning any more any time soon I should be fine. Half an hour later it was a perfect match, and my skin looked smooth, soft, and semi-matte, as if a soft-focus light effect was on me. It's been 2 hours since and the effect still is going strong. I'm impressed--bye bye NARS! Now to hope Chanel never DCs my shade. >_>

Ended up purchasing Perfection Lumiere in BA 54 and the new powder compact in Muscade. I tried the new concealer shade (Beige Golden) but it was much too orange. Muscade is fairly yellow so y'all having issues with the Perfection Lumiere being too orange might try that. It starts off a little light but blends in pretty quickly.

EDIT: Would like to add that Perfection Lumiere's oil-absorbing capabilities are on par with every other supposedly mattifying foundation...as in no mattifying ability whatsoever. Within two hours I was bright and shiny. The powder compact helped some, but not too much, as in another two hours I was shiny again. However unlike NARS Sheer Matte Perfection Lumiere stayed on no matter what and is still clinging to my skin 7 hours later despite the oil. Bring your blotting papers!

Shontay!!!! AMBER 94 IS NOT OUR COLOR! It's Beige Amber 64... it is a PERFECT MATCH for me. I love it! I couldn't wait to get home and type this to you... I would have tweeted you had I known your twitter handle. Try Beige Amber 64 before you commit. No color correction needed. This is neutral enough to use alone.

Holy crap! I can't believe it. Wait, actually I can because the MUA tried to find my shade and she went about 3 shades too light. Now I can't wait to get to a counter this weekend. Thanks, Ingenue. :cheer:
