Chanel Holiday 2011

I was away for two days and it looks like you ladies are having a party here! Winthrop - good to know you like the highlighter! I feel i will cave when I see it in person. Look forward to your thoughts on BL. Elegant - thanks for the great pics! I echo the other ladies, my wallet is mad at you because now I feel I want all of them to have the elegant feminine look. I think Empire is going to be my new favorite. Is Enviree close to Chintz? Michelle - I have Les Perles and it is a good, eye brightening quad. I agree with the other ladies, the guerlain quads are nice but the colours are very dupeable. And Cheryl mentioned about the eyeshadows being "hard pressed". Didn't know what she meant until I used Les Perles. They have a hard surface and I have to pressed my brush harder on it. Maybe that is why some say they are sheer. I like the Chanel rose scent but am not a fan of guerlain's violet scent. I have been wanting to try Becca too but it is not available here. HG - I use the Chanel whitening range for a month and my skin tone is now more even and less dull. I didn't notice it until I didn't put foundation and went out. I could almost do without wearing foundation now. Almost. I'm glad they really have some effect because I was very skeptical of these whitening things. Haven - Enjoy your highlighter! To all others who got the holiday items, congrats and enjoy them!

Off the top of my head Enivree is probably peachier. Nothing will be really close to it because of the gorgeous gold shimmer ;) You're welcome my dear! And thats ok, my wallet has been mad at me for a very long time

:) Which highlighter? PG or the holiday. Nervous about BL - is it really glittery or just shimmery.
The holiday highlighter. I get my Chanel orders in 2 days but my Nordies orders..........well, PG is scheduled to get here next Thursday.

On BL...Honestly I'm not sure what it technically is...it's big enough to where I'd call it glitter but yet it's really well integrated into the pigment (not sure how else to explain it!) so that it seems to stay put...for at least as long as I tried it yesterday anyway.

Oh wow, I thought you would have received the PG by now. I'm so glad that you like the highlighter. I left PG in my cart until I hear what you think of it

BL might also look good say...over Root

but then maybe that would take away from the pretty sparkles

Gail -- so glad you love the highlighter. Are they sending everything in boxes or the drawstring bags? Just curious (I have quite the collection of Chanel boxes and bags LOL). Keep us posted on Beige Lame.

MissQQ -- good to know about the Guerlain quads. In my mind I was picturing them to be soft -- so that helps to know that they are hard pressed shadows. Maybe if I splurge and get the meteorites, I will leave them out for a few days like people have suggested. I am not a fan of heavy perfume-y smells. The more I read about them -- I'm not sure. People either seem to love or hate the meteorites.
They don't really have many places that carry Becca here, either. I would definitely have to order online. So many of their blushes look gorgeous.

Haven -- enjoy your highlighter! I have been curious about Feerie also. In the swatches I've seen, it looks like a finishing powder with some shimmer. I've been checking out the meteorites, too. Maybe Teint Beige or Teint Dior are better suited for warmer skintones? I am just going by the colors they show on the Nordstrom website. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/guerlain-meteorites-pearls/3103279?origin=keywordsearch&resultback=3585
I have read that the holiday meteorites are warmer than last years http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/guerlain-meteorites-pearls/3215474?origin=shoppingbag

Elegant -- just a few more hours and I should have my package . . . .

Bags. I've only ever gotten 1 box. Is there something you need to do to get a box?

I think it would be good over Root, or any CCB really, in terms of keeping the sparkles put.

For those who have been wondering about the Fairy powder...Sabrina's review:

I think I only got a box once. I have soo many of the drawstring bags that I should just throw them out. My large order came in the typical black drawstring bag.

Michelle - can't wait to hear what you think of your goodies ;)

I have been trying out 3 products lately that have made a very noticeable difference in my skin - 2 new ones older product.

1) Lancome's Visionnaire - for minimizing pores, spots, wrinkles, overall skintone eveness. I am loving this product a lot. Noticeable difference with the first few uses.

2) Estee Lauder - Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator - I love love how this makes my skin look & feel so much that I bought it & got this really pink ls free :) It makes the skin incredibly soft, smooth, very youthful glowy & my skin looks almost completely poreless using this in combination with the Visionnaire. Also, those tiny spots/red spots that show up from time to time for no reason - completely faded. Very good reviews, & a few mentioned that this has really diminished their rosacea!

3) Estee Lauder - Idealist Pore Minimizer - I used this a long time ago & then forgot about it but recently tried it again. Its kind of like a primer in a way. Makes the skin very soft matte (great for oily skin!) glasslike poreless finish. Also makes the makeup glide on flawlessly.
You can read some reviews on nordstrom.com

I use the Visionnaire after cleansing at night & I love how my skin looks & feels. Then I use the EL Skintone Illuminator after cleansing in the morning & then sometimes the EL Pore Minimizer over that before makeup. I also use both of the EL products on the backs of my hands.

Its weird/funny that when I was at the Lancome/EL counters, they ask what I use & I say Chanel & they just slam Chanel

what is up with that!

^^ Gail, They used to have an option where you could click for gift packaging (free) and it would come in a black box. With the Summer collection, I got a gorgeous white box with embossed flowers on it (but I don't remember clicking on the gift packaging). Maybe they have done away with the boxes altogether??

The fairy powder looks so pretty, but a lil too glimmery (is that a word?? a combo of glittery/shimmery) for me. Are you getting the holiday meteorites? I get all set to order, and then I read so many split reviews . . .

Elegant -- I am the same -- way too many of those pouches. I gave a bunch to my girls so they can put their "treasures" in and they think they are pretty fancy!
I have heard so much about the EL Idealist Pore Minimizer. I will just have to bite the bullet and start spending more on my skincare. Maybe I can get a few samples to try out first . . .

^^ I love the duo too. I want to make sure the ivory is not as yellow as the light shade in the Khaki-Clair duo...if not I will order it.

Michelle...I agree the fairy powder looks too glimmery for me too! I ordered Sweet Beige and specified a Gift Message, so we will see if that has any effect on how it's sent. I don't think it will though. I am staying away from meteorites because I tried a sample once and they aggravated my skin, possibly the fragrance but who knows...I've never actually seen the ingredient list for them. I am not that keen on loose powders anyway, I always feel like I'm inhaling more product that way.

Yeah, I will pass on the Fairy Powder too. Just don't need it ;)

Oh, that is so adorable that the girls can put their little treasures in them :) too cute!

Fortunately the EL products are more $$$ reasonable than most. The Pore Minimizer is $46 & right now you can get a lovely big gift set from Nordies. I got the cool set with the Tulip ls, pretty lip pencil & gloss. I liked the eyeshadows better in the warm set - but the Pink Tulip ls won me over. The illuminator is $59

As heart-breakingly beautiful Rose Carat is, and as much as I hate returning stuff, it's going back to Nordies. A $25 np should NOT chip as quickly as it has on me. Off to find a dupe from Zoya or OPI.

Whooooooooooo the Feerie Powder is PINK GLITTER. No... it's PANK glitter! Yeah, that's it. I kind of like it.. kind of don't. It may end up going back because it's a bit much.

Empire is to DIE for. I'm wearing it today. I'm so glad it got it, because I hesitated at first... thinking it was too much like Phoenix. It's not even close. Such a warm, rich pink.

Beige Lame eyeshadow is going to become one of my favorites. It's so subtle on me... nearly flesh toned with a multidimensional shimmer... it's a PERFECT base for any number of colors, and really beautiful when worn alone.

With the exception of Feerie... I'm very happy with my haul. I'll give Feerie another shot this weekend...

I'm wearing Beige Lame on the outer half of my eyes with Chanel Vanilla on the inner half, all over MAC Pearl CCB, and really love it too. It's very eye-brightening. And I tried the highlighter on too...

it! It gives me what I always wanted from MSFs but without the metallic or fish scale look that they always gave my skin.

Did you try the Zoya base & top coats with RC by any chance? They work very well with Chanel polishes for me.

hey, I was just going to tell you (so many interruptions today) that I love your combo & will try it! And, I'm with you on the no fish scale look

I don't know if you have it, but Mac's Greasepaint stick in Dirty is lovely with the Brun Rose, Enivree colors so I'm thinking it would be pretty with BL eyeshadow.

I'm wondering if I should cancel my order with NM for BL because now they're saying it is still BO, but they already send me the GWP so I probably won't. geesh

Pank is Pink to the 100th power! Really obnoxious color... that can only be described in slang.

Elegant I got Triomphal... it is STUNNING. I already have two tubes of Insouciance, so there was no need to get another. I didn't get any of the lipsticks because they remind me of other colors.

Queen of Snark -- bummer about the np! Hope you find something else that you love.

Ingenue -- haha -- Pank powder! LOL I should have gotten Empire also . . .
