MAC and Iris Aphel Discussion

Ladies how dry are mac matte lipsticks? I always ran from them, my lips are very very dry, like they chap every day even though I moisturize them 2-3 times a day. I always scrub and use a very rich balm before make-up, but even so satin & cremsheen lipsticks are a little dry for me. But I really like 1-2 matte ls from this coll, do you think I could pull them of?

I agree with Lou. Mac has made some strides as far as mattes go this year. I got two from the Mickey Contractor collection and I never have issues with them. They're much softer and easier on the lips than they used to be. My lips tend to get dried out fairly easily and I can wear the new, LE mattes with no problems.

On a side note, I'm wondering if Mac will institute the new matte formula as a rolling change on existing products. Would take a while to see, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I actually find the average cremesheen more drying than these newer mattes - my guess on the main reason is because I always wind up applying a heavier layer of a cremesheen lipstick to get it looking even than what I need to use in a matte. Matte gets one thin layer and I'm good to go, but Cremesheen often needs 2 layers.

Beside this, I also think it depends on the actual color - for me, any lipstick with a white base to the color ("milky" colors) is always more drying on my lips - must be the type of minerals they need to use.

^^ Flamingo is actually a pinky coral.. which is great cause it suits most skin tones whereas a true coral will always pull too yellow and doesn't work well on some complexions. I have worn Flamingo in the summer.. and it was great, even with my wacko white hair! that said, all the ls in the collex are superb.
:pompom: Good news. You're da inside-man! Is Flamingo pinker than Ever Hip?

If Flamingo is close to Ever Hip, I might have to pass it. I'm hoping to see some comparison swatches.

I saw in some swatches on google that Heartless from VV looks like a good dupe for it, I have it and it`s not drying at all

Same here Prettypackages. I love Heartless & Runaway Red. Great colors and the staying power is amazing. I don't have kanga rouge though.

romi, the swatches you saw are accurate... it does look a lot like Heartless from V.V., but it has a tad more orange base.. just a tad. It is gorgeous.

Hm... In that case I might not *need* this one. I have Heartless and am nowhere near finishing it. Plus I have about a million other reds...

i can't actually remember the last time i finished any lipsticks...!
Years ago, when I didn't have a lot of lipsticks, there was this one sheer mid-tone teal lipstick with a sort of silver mauve sheen sparkle from Borghese that I was just crazy about - I went through 3 tubes of that and was very

when it was discontinued. Even MAC hasn't yet done a shade like that - I was hoping Summer Shower would be it, but it was too pale. Other ones are too bright or too true blue without the greyed out tinge.

I also went through multiple tubes of another Borghese lipstick that was like a pale pink lustre with a really heavy purple opalescent shine. I get the feeling you can't even get the sort of pigments that they used to use in those 80s purple opalescent colors anymore. Pervette just doesn't cut the mustard compared to that one.

Of course, now I've accumulated so many lipsticks over such a short time that yep, don't see running out of any of them so fast.

Heartless looked pretty dowdy on me & I skipped it, but if this has more of an orange cast, that may give it just the right lift for it to look great! I was sort of hoping I could narrow down the lipsticks in this collection. 'Maybe not d'oh!

I know that my latest tube of "O" is almost done, although I haven't touched it in months (it's like I'm saving it for something). Other than that, not only can I not remember the last time I finished a lipstick, but I'm pretty sure I'm not close to finishing any of the ones I have now... And yet I still keep getting more...

I couldn't help smiling to myself yesterday. I was walking through the shopping centre yesterday, and a petite white haired elderly lady walked past, with a hair style very similar to that of Iris, and she was wearing large, black-framed glasses and bright lippy.
