I think I wanna get Black Night to help make a few lighter colors I have more wearable for me. Still undecided tho.

katred! How is it that you make everything look so beautiful? You are gorgeous!! I love Black Knight on you. I'm trying to decide if I want it or really need it. What to do, what to do???????

Since it's black, it's always going to look a *little* goth, but I find that paired with a minimal eye, particularly something touched with white or silver and neatly lined, it looks ultra-modern. Not sure if it's to your taste, but this is something I tried:

It's definitely a "night out" (and not at a restaurant) kind of thing. I'll wear vampy lips during the day, but full-on black just looks too stark for daylight hours.

I have Benefit's "Depth Charge" which is a sheer black. It works great for making pale lipsticks that little bit darker.

Can I say that the minds at MAC were so genius in doing this! Offering a black friday limited edition item, that is black. I love it! Pink Friday was so meh to me last year. I am actually excited this time around. I wonder if this will be an annual thing, especially if people buy more items while they are picking up Black Knight.

I think I am going to get one. I have 2 Blackware Glimmerglasses from Style Black and I use them exactly for this reason. I love it especially over my Urban Decay Greedy lipstain. I know MAC has lipmix for this, or I could get an OCC liptar, but I want the lipstick like texture this time around. I think MUFE has a black lipstick as well, but its a little more on the matte side while this is creamier, and that is what I want. Glad its back. I never was lucky enough to see it at the CCO

Katred you've sold me on it! you look so nice! I'm hoping this will look great with some opaque dazzleglass (which won't truely be opaque since it's a dazzleglass but i'm hoping to give it some cool undertones like a dark berry sparkle to it)

To Black Knight or not to Black Night? Mmmmhh... It's on Pro now (showing as coming soon).
Black is one of the best unisex lip colors and Black Knight is quite nice, if a little patchy to apply at times (it's a liner and lip brush lipstick unless you just want a stain - it stains more dark red than pure black on me). Out of the black lipsticks I've had over the years, it's the least obviously "goth" or heavy or too sheer - it's a fashion black for sure!

Gorgeous as usual....

Do you have a black pencil you prefer for lining your lips with BK? I've avoided using eye pencils on my lips because I have no idea what'd be lip safe or not. I use Nightmoth, but it definitely gives a reddish cast, which then you wind up needing extra BK over, which leads to patchiness. I've gotten pretty good results using Naked liner just around the edges of the mouth and carefully blended in, since it stops feathering and adds to a fuller lip, but then I wind up having to reapply BK much more frequently (the least little sip of a drink is enough to mess it up, since it never really sets up firmly - maybe lip primer is the way to go for that?)

Another eye look I love with BK is one color softly smudged all around the eye with a coordinating liner in the waterline and no other liner. I particularly like the teal, navy or purple Mega Metal shadows for this, or Sassy Grass. Golden Gaze MES is great too.

Totally high maintenance lip color, but oh so worth it!

You look lovely! I'm absolutely giddy over this, I've been expressing my inner goth recently and have been really wanting a black l/s, this is perfect timing :)
Hmmm. I wonder if Feline would be good under this, or if it'd be too smudgy. Either way you make this look gorgeous Katred and I can honestly say I've never been more excited for Black Friday!

katred, how do you think black knight would look with outrage l/g over it? Thinking about putting that in my checkout bag as well

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

I actually use Smolder to fill in my lips with this, even though I know I probably shouldn't. I'm careful to clean and sharpen it before using it on my eyes afterward.

For anyone who wants to see the rest of the look (and a couple of other pics), I stuck it at the bottom of my "Pugh review":

Here's a mac artist that used love alert with black knight so happy I grabbed it G&I http://www.mobypicture.com/user/Mac_Keri_b/view/11316012

ooooo, i love the next photo where she puts it under Runaway Red.

I'm going to try that for tomorrow - but I might give it a try mixed with the black mattene from style black instead, to keep that matte, matte, matte effect. For the eyes, I think I'll bust out The Family Crest pigment and do some extra-velvety smokey look. My nails are already painted with Immortal Gold, so there it is!

At first I was a little disturbed by BK, but now that I think about it, I like making custom lips, so I think this lippie needs to join my lipstick stash! So excited! I hope I can snag one before it sells out.

I wouldn't suggest you overexert yourself to get it - it's pretty temperamental and high maintenance to use......but if you're willing to put some elbow grease into it, or you plan on doing a lot of color mixing (which takes extra time too), then go for it!

Ohh that's good to know how it is to work with, thanks for that! I'll see what happens. If I happen to stumble upon the MAC site on Friday and see something else I'd like to add to the order, maybe I'll toss BK in, too. I definitely don't think I would be daring enough to wear it on its own. My skin is stark pale so I'd definitely be rockin' the gothic look!

Would you say BK's high maintenance is characeristic of Cremesheens in general, or that just the shade and pigment of BK are tricky? I usually gravitate toward Lustres and Creamsheens as my lips seem to prefer them and take the colors a little better. Surprisingly I haven't had any issues with dryness that I know is a reoccurring trend with those finishes.

I have a few shades that are too light for me to pull off on their own (for example: Fresh Amour from Posh Paradise), but I like having the colors around for those times where I'm in the mood mix layers and make my own colors. This is what's tempting me for the challenge of BK! lol.

It's not easy to get BK to apply evenly (and I have smooth lips). Also, any little thing will rub it off and it'll really look patchy right after that - you'll need to be touching it up all night if you're drinking or eating. If you're only wearing it mixed with other colors, it'll probably be a lot easier to deal with, but if you're like me and only want to take the time to layer and blend a bunch of lippies for special occasions, you're probably not going to use it too often.

I honestly don't wear it more than a few times a year, and I actually go out to the sorts of bars and clubs where you can get away with extreme lipstick and I'm also shameless and will wear crazy colors in public at the drop of a hat. I get more use out of the black mattene from Style Black, since you can blot it and then apply another layer on top and it'll behave through a drink or a cigarette. BK is super fashionable, though! I'm the anti-enabler, so I feel responsible to play devil's advocate here.

MUFE has an awesome black lippie, It'a Rouge Artist Intense 50. I prefer it to BK, so if you don't get BK, don't fret. the MUFE one cost a little more, but it is loads better IMHO.
Here are two pics of me wearing the MUFE one and I don't even have a liner on underneath the lipstick, unlike BK, I need to put one.

edited to include the MUFE lippie name

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your feedback :) It's good to know the cons of this lipstick to weigh it all out and think outside the hype. Personally, I wish I had more of a black gloss to blend lippies with. They're usually quite sheer to begin with, and the application - though milky at times - is a much easier breeze to reapply when needed. Right now my fav is using Oversexed plush glass over several lippies. I used Whirls & Twirls today and layered Oversex on top and it was just a great MLBB shade with a bit of shimmer and sheen. I'm really glad you provided insight so again thank you! It gives me more to mull through in time for Friday - to really decide if I would use the shade or if it would sit in my make-up stash unloved.
