MAC Daphne Guinness Discussion

Can't do one of my huge reviews, but I had to jump in to say that Aurora is pretty much my perfect brow highlight.

I have a constant battle with those, since my brow bone is prominent and a bit puffy and so many highlight colors bring it forward too much and make my eyes look hooded. Plus the skin around my crease is naturally a bit darker too, so light colors often come out looking a little 2-tone, whether I like it or not. Plus my eyebrows are black and I grew them out for the 80's look ;). I had hopes for Creamy Bisque and Moleskin but CB was a touch too light and M was a touch dark.

Well, Aurora is perfect. Not too shiny or frosty, opaque enough to deal with the varying skin tone and the perfect shade to flatten out those puffy brows. All it needs is a swipe dry, right out of the jar. Boom - the years melt right off. I'm very strict with myself about pigments and only buy colors I know I'll get a metric ton of use out of and Aurora is one of the chosen few! If you're NC15 and struggle with puffy eyes, I'd say this one is more than a must-have - it's a necessity!

Hi everyone! This is my first post but I am a long time makeup junkie (especially Mac). I'm very excited that I finally made an account

I was at my local Mac counter bright and early yesterday morning when the collection first launched. I tend to haul a lot with every new Mac limited edition collection so Daphne Guinness was no exception. So far I picked up:

Azalea Blossom- This is my first blush ombre and so far I love the looks of it. I am particularly in love with the lilac portion of the blush. I haven't tried it yet but I think it will suit my skin tone really well (I'm NW 10-15 for reference).

Narcissus= AMAZING! I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. I tried it on and it was pretty much opaque which is delightful. I am thinking of backing this baby up.

Borealis- I like it, but was expecting/hoping it would have a little more pigmentation. It applies mostly sheer with pink pearl. I think this is a good layering gloss, especially over my pale nudes for a gray tinge!

Seasoned Plum- This is another favorite of mine from the collection. Nice opaque coverage with a great creamy texture. Gorgeous.

Warp Speed- I love the color, but the texture is a fail for me. Unlike Seasoned Plum, Warp Speed is very tacky/sticky on the lips.

If anyone has any questions regarding any of the products I mentioned, feel free to ask!

I hope that means that in the future we'll be getting improved pigment jars. I won't hold my breath though.

They took the time to read your letter & respond... That's HALF the battle! Now, if we ALL do the same, maybe they will wake up and do something about it!
I'll write one as well. It's a good start.
Good Job ladyarwen!

Well, shoot!
phoned MAC this morning (dialing the number by memory, to my horror) and got a recording saying that they "re-open for business on Monday, January 2."
That's great; release THREE new collections, then shut bloomin' down for a week!
What this means for the delivery of my order, I don't know, but it's hardly as if I have nothing to wear ...

I hope this doesn't mean that my Daphne Guiness order, placed 12/23, won't ship until next week!
Say it isn't so!

Picked up Narcissus and Seasoned Plum and I'm in love with them both. That's a big deal for this nude lippie lover. I think I'm going to back up Narcissus. Only my second MAC backup EVER.

It's the grey tinge that makes it so special. I wouldn't want any more pigmentation though as I feel it is perfect as it is. Too much grey might be too much indeed, but Borealis has just the right amount to make a fashion statement.

Oh, crud! I was originally not at all interested in Narcissus, but all these raves are making me wonder if I should go for it!

I only ended up buying Hyperion and Vintage Grape from this collection. I swatched Aurora and while it's beautiful, it was just... not for me. I actually thought it looked ashy with my skin color. o_O I hope ya'll enjoyed hauling! :)

If you have Restrict from the Gareth Pugh collection, try Borealis over that. It is beautiful. Being that Restrict is a lightly grayed pink nude and Borealis is a sheer grey with pink pearl, they accent each other perfectly.

I think I'm gonna have to back up Aurora.. It's so beautiful and I've been wearing it every day since I got it! And you all are getting me really curious about Narcissus....

I put swatches of the things I have from the collection (both blush ombres, Circa Plum and Red Dwarf) in the swatch thread for anyone who wants to see them. I've also posted a review with more swatches of those products and a look at some of them in use on my blog (direct link to the post is in my signature file). I hope that everyone is enjoying their hauls!!

I suspect that means that their consumer service phone line is shut down, not their ordering system. I'm sure you'll get your order sooner than next week. Fingers crossed for you.
