MAC Tres Cheek discussion

You are welcome! I think if you have really dry skin you'll want to hydrate it really well, it seems to react with moist/oily skin. I might try to spray my brush with Fix + before swirling it into the blush!

I love the Moisture Infusion serum to prep the cheeks. Genius product.

Maybe you have a miniature kabuki? You really want something small, but very dense that still has some bounce/fluff and ideally is angled.

I don't know other brands, but I'm sure there are dupes for the 162.

how does one avoid double dipping?? using multiple brushes I suppose?
The 162 is (was) a Pro brush.

I wouldn't go with a wet brush into any of the TC blushes under no cirucumstances.

It will really ruin the blush very very quickly as this Satin formula is very prone to degrading and/or accumulating oily spots. For the same reason, I would also avoid double dipping. Some of the testers I saw were completely ruined (= zero color pay off)

Yep. I do have quite a few mini kabuki brushes. I will try that tomorrow, thanks!

If it is a regular blush brush, you can pick up the product from both sides. In the case of the 162, I just use two (as there is only one side). I want to keep my blushes functional for as long as possible. I love all the new formulas that MAC is bringing out these days, but unfortunately they are very prone to accumulate oil spots, which hence renders them dysfunctional in no time.

Mac-Guy - thank you so much for sharing with us :) I actually don't have a kabuki brush. I do have Shu Uemura 20 pony hair brush that picks up a lot of pigment. Hopefully it works if not I'll definitely be on the hunt for an angled kabuki. Yay I'm so excited now! I'm getting Modern Mandarin, Immortal Flower, and Love Cloud.

I was able to peek at the goodies my MUA is holding for me. Did a swatch of FoJ on my cheek and promptly removed that from my bag - it didn't look good on me at all. So now I'm Team 3: Lovecloud, Modern Mandarin (+1 BU) and Peony Petal.

If you have to rely on online swatches, find a blogger who is close to your skintone. While swatches might look beautiful on one person, if your complexion is the opposite of that, it probably won't look like anything close to that on you. I like T's swatches for the clarity of the image and to give me a general idea, but almost all products look completely different on me. It doesn't come as a surprise though give that she is a medium NC and I am a light NW.

by any chance, would you know of a blogger who swatches a lot of mac and is roghly nw35??

I'm wondering though, realistically which ones would actually show up on us NC35-40 guys/gals? I'd like to get all but I don't think FoJ or Pink Tea would show much *sad face*

im nw35 but I think half my struggle was the orange in my skin, given you are an nc you will prob have more luck than me :)

sorry to be a pain in the a**** again! BUT i have just read thru 3 pages of comments,

when the MA tested this on me she used a 116 brush, could this have contributed to half the reason WHY I didnt like them?!?!

I just checked your blog and your profile pic, you look olive toned to me.. maybe it's my screen colors settings though.

I have been told that I am yellow toned with warm undertones....

But I choose to wear NW foundation as I feel like a simpson character with NW, I just buff really well..............

where does olive sit with cool, warm, pink, yellow?

I have olive skin, it's a pain in the a! NW looks way too pink on me, NC can even look too pink sometimes and depending of the foundation, can look very yellow! C is the best for me, but I think they only have it in the studio fix powder. What's working for me since a couple of years is mixing a green corrector in my foundation, you might want to try that. If it matches better, you'll know you are olive toned. You can try with a MAC pigment or a liquid corrector. I don't know if there's a way to find if you have olive skin, but if I compare my arms to my boyfriend's arms (he's cold toned), his skin looks pink and mine is slightly dirty green.

i found mixing NC and NW together was probably a closer match, but then I couldnt be bothered buying a seperate tube and doing that... would that be an indication?

I feel like this with the studio fix. However, blended out onto your face, NC prolongwear looks quite neutral, especially with some cool toned powder over it

prettykitty (love your name, btw!), if you see green in your skin, then you have warm undertones. to get the best color, yes you should mix two foundations to get it perfect. most people do have to mix two to get it just right. it's a hefty price tag up front if you're going high end, but it'll last you FOREVER! especially if you have a pump foundation. i find that mac foundations have too much brown and/or yellow in them, so you may want to try another brand. also, how come you are adding a green corrector - is that to balance out any redness that you have in your skin?

what other bands have you tried?

i'm probably repeating this, however i'll share again for those that may not know... as a general rule: if you look at the veins in your forearms and you have blue veins, you're cool toned. if your veins are green, you're warm and if your veins look teal then you're neutral.

another quick way is to ask yourself do I look better in silver or gold jewelry? if you can wear both then you're neutral! silver compliments cool toned folks and gold with warm undertones.

happy almost friday!
xx

I think I might skip this one too...I can only afford to get 1 blush if I would, and I can't decide which one it would be. I've definitely crossed Full of Joy off of my list as it looks just pink to me, I'm not sure if Modern Mandarin would look good on me because I'm very cool and very pale, like nearly Casper pale. I do like Immortal Flower and Peony Petal, I would LOVE Lovecloud if it had more coral in it...but I don't know if any of those would show up as that much different than what I already have. Maybe I'll just get Pink Cult from Reel Sexy or skip blushes completely. Such hard decisions.
