Doesn't MAC realize how hard they are making it for their MUA's? If A store doesnt have something I am looking for in a collection I immediatley turn around and leave. After about 4 times of this at my closet mac counter (30 minutes away) I barely go in there anymore. Most of the time they dont get most of the items in a collection anyway. Wouldn't make more sense to make LE items and have a set period where they are actually available. i.e These particular items are availabe to EVERYONE for the whole month of APRIL or set some two week time period if that makes them feel better. This would also lessen the Ebay problem.

The larger issue at stake is that MAC really has no ebay problem. It won't matter to them if they sell it to an ebayer or to a regular customer. In fact, MAC probably prefers an ebayer as they are unlikely to return the item.

I understand the dilemma of not getting products, but my best advice is to build a good relationship with a store, who will hold items for you. For example, my store does hold items for regular customers, but they won't hold items for people who just come in and swatch and then order online. It's a "give and take," so having a working relationship with a store is the best way to solve the problem, even if you can't pick up the items on the day of the release.

So true! I always buy at the same counter and rarely on-line. I want them to see me and remember me. I have never had a problem putting product aside. Thursday I had 12 items put aside for me and only left with nine and they had no problem with that. They know when I ask to put things aside I will be there to get them.

I understand having a good relationship with a store but they can not put things on hold for you if they never recieve them in the first place. I can go in there today and they wont have anything from any new collections. This has happened repeatedly. It is a small store so I'm sure that is part of the issue.

I understand too, but I understand the frustration of wanting to have the chance/choice of going to a store on launch day and see the product, and calmly decide what you want, and don't need. Than feverishly hunting down product, falling into hype, and sitting with something you don't want. Then feeling bad for wanting to return it.

Is it a store or a counter? Not all collections make it to counters, though they should have everything at a f/s store.

I don't know if any of your MUA's told you about their new policy of holding items when a new collection comes out on launch day. When you have items on hold on the day the collection releases, you must pick them up on that day of the release and if you don't get them on the release day, the items will be put back in the drawers and will no longer hold them for you. I have been told that by my MUA at my MAC counter.

That's if they hold it for you! Most that I have dealt with won't even hold them anymore. The last time I got to hold something was Posh Paradise they told me I had to pick it up that day....wish every store was consistent with the policies.

It's really up to the discretion of the store manager. I recently had items held for as long as two weeks before I picked them up (as I was out of the country).

I understand that a store won't hold items for you if you only come in to swatch and/or just buy a few items and buy the rest online. If you spent the majority of your budget in one store, they will most likely hold your items (within reason) as you will ultimately help them to reach their sales targets.

If you live within reasonable distance of a store, give them your business and you will get a lot in return (early swatches, previews, invitation to events, freebies, etc...).

Totally agree! I go by my counter often and only buy from them. They are so wonderful with holding product and also invite me to all their events!

Wow, where did they find those products? Or is it a new batch? Maybe somebody who ordered can compare the batch number. It would be interesting to know.
