I really don't know what to think about this one.

I wonder what brush she used? I tested it again today with my trusty MAC 188 and i got it too dark again - and i thought i was being light handed... Guess i need a lighter hand! Or maybe i'm just no longer used to wearing such dramatic cheek color. So i'm still on the fence about Earthshine. It's just soooo pretty in the pan. But i want to buy MU i actually wear - i can't afford to collect stuff i won't use.

Also, i took my Semi Precious Rose Quartz and my Blonde and Redhead degradés with me to double check my first impressions. Center of the Universe was indeed similar to Rose Quartz. Light Year was closer to Redhead than to Blonde. I think Solar Ray Blush may close to Blonde but i forgot to check. They're all beautiful and if you wear those sorts of colors and don't already have a MSF or Mineralize blush that is similar, they'd be worth picking up.

We must have just missed each other. I was just at the LA store and swatched everything as well.

In testing these, i have found there is little to no glitter. There's lots of shimmer, but i really haven't seen any glitter. In fact, i went back to my local MAC earlier today, so i now have four HC eyeshadows on (3 above, 1 below), one blush and two MSF. I'm plenty shiny - but in such a nice way

That's exactly how I feel about it.

She doesn't mention what type of brush she used.

I swatched and previewed this collection today.

What I preordered:

All 4 MSF's
All ls except Cusp of Dawn (B2M)
Stratus and Ring of Saturn MB
Universal Appeal, Water, and Sky MES

The quality and texture of these products is comparable to Naturally products. I didn't find any of them gritty or difficult to work with. I know that some early swatches made most of the products look gritty. That really isn't the case. IMHO if you order online you don't have to worry about the quality of the products ( for example: all MES swatched beautifully dry; I didn't get to try them wet). People should order based on color preference, dupes in stash, etc.

A couple of thoughts.... I am NW20 and earthshine swatched rather dark on me. Yet is is so gorgeous that I had to get it. I think that it would be great for contouring (with a light hand) and as an eyeshadow. I bought Stratus to use as an eyeshadow. Solar ray was too orange for my skintone, and supernova was very bright.

All of the MSFs are very pigmented, and I do plan to use them as blushes. I really like them b/c they are so pigmented. I definately preferred them over the MBs.

All of the MES swatched beautifully dry on the back of my hand. I didn't get to try them wet. I choose MES based on what I already own. I would have liked to purchase more, but I needed to stay with a budget. The only MES that seemed like an in your face glitterbomb was the lightest combination. Reminded me of a close cousin of solar white.

I was a fan of the lip products. I was able to B2M for the ls that I wanted. I will probably get some of the cremesheens at a later date. I was focused on getting the mineralized products.

When i tested the HC MSFs the first time, i used them like blushes, but i was using a blush brush. Today i brought some of my other brushes and with a 188 stippling brush and a lighter hand, they can work as highlighters - that's what i did today with Light Year.

On the other hand, as i've posted, some MSFs and blushes in this coll. produce effects like Blonde and Redhead and Rose Quartz. These are beautiful colors for many skin tones - and definitely worth testing, unless one has these colors already.

Quote: it kind of reminds of the blushes from the quite cute collection because they were that bright!

I have both Sakura and Miss Behave from Quite Cute (one of my favorite MAC collex and i am NOT girly) and i think the HC MSF colors are nothing like them. Maybe one or two are reminiscent of Giggly, but i didn't even test that, so i can't say.

Quote: I got a feeling that Earthshine is going to sell out, it is gorgeous and can be used as a bronzer, it kind of reminds me of METAL ROCK, but I don't own metal rock. Earthshine has no orange in it, and the opacity can vary depending if you use it with a light or heavy hand. [SNIP] If you have loved Glorify and Sundripped than you'll love this one!

It's true that Earthshine isn't like anything i've seen MAC release in the past 2-1/2 years. I won't predict immediate sell-out because it's a little harder to wear than the other 3 MSFs, which are more versatile. It may work well on someone with much darker skin. I think the other 3 are wearable on a multitude of skin tones.

Quote: The lipsticks were a pass, and I'm a lipstick whore.

I felt they were lovely wearable colors - i ended up testing 3 lipsticks because my naturally bluish lips did not look good with the warm-toned blushes and MSFs i had on during my first test run. But they were not remarkable. If i were shopping for an everyday sort of color i might pick one of them. But nuthin' to knock one's socks off.

I agree! Nothing is really glittery or gritty. There is lots of shimmer though.

did you end up pre-ordering anything? =)
Yes. I listed everything in my other post. I wanted to preorder more, but then DH would have not been to happy with me... LOL

If I "need" anything else, then those products will have to magically appear in my stash.

I am having my products shipped to me. I didn't want to drive an hour on the freeway, with the kids this time, to pick everything up. Would not have been fun for anyone. I should get them next Friday.

It was really hard not to preorder all of the mineralized products. Even the overly shimmery MES that reminded me of solar white. But I need to show some restraint. Or at least convince DH that I am. LOL

I am so sorry to have missed Rose Quartz and Redhead (I won't even mention Stereo Rose - I hope they'll bring that back again someday).

I was thinking of:

Solar Ray (looks really glittery in swatches so iffy on this)
Ring of Saturn
Light Year (also glittery)
Centre of the Universe

I have no mineralize products other than Warm Soul blush. A bit of sheen is ok. Glitter, no. Metallic, not so much. Warm corals, bronzes, oranges, all great on me. I just know if I get these and they're very shimmery they will sit in my makeup drawer and collect dust. Those of you who have seen my shortlist; are there any that were less shimmery than the others?

Thanks! :)

I was itching to preorder all the MSFS+ backups, but he'd be angry hahaha. Do they charge for shipping? If you need me to CP, I could ship it out for you so you wouldn't have to drive, haha. Unless you wanted to swatch the products

My order stands at only 5 out of 17 products - if i had more disposable income, i would have bought more of the blushes and MSFs - but i gotta save for a vacation in August.

Mineralize Eye Shadow
-- Earthly – Beige, peach and cool brown melange - a nice practical color that looks so special because it swirls.
-- Magnetic Attraction – Orange, pink and gold melange - so much more beautiful than it sounds, really multi-dimensional
-- Neo Nebula – Cream, warm amethyst and warm pink melange - another color that can go cool or warm.
-- Bright Moon – Grey, silver and icy green melange - i really like it because the grey is really bluish and the green leans aqua

I have now tried ALL the colors on my eyes, and i am content these are the best for me, or don't dupe something i already have. (OK, OK, i probably have something close to Earthly - i do have the UD Naked I palette - but this will be easier to carry in my makeup kit)

Mineralize Blush
-- Stratus - such a beautiful deep plum with gold and copper sheen!
Only this one, because two of others are close to colors i already have and magenta is not something i'd wear.

I have not pre-ordered but am waffling about
Mineralize Skin Finish
-- Earthshine
Only this one, because the other three are close to colors i already have. I suspect i will eventually give in to my baser urges and buy it...

I saw everything the other day and I didn't think much of it was glittery. Some had quite a bit of sheen to them, reminded me of Glorify and the like.

Earthshine is the most beautiful of all the products. It was amazing the different ways my SA made it look. Don't skip it until you see it -- GORGEOUS.
I totally agree with you, give Earthshine a chance, haha. Even before I swatched the product, it reminded of glorify and glorify is my *hg* I rthink it does have some sparkles/glitter in it, but I don't think it is overpowering. I'll def post swatches next week when I get them.

They charge $7 to ship, which is less than what gas would cost to drive back to the pro store. If I want anything else, I will probably order it online. What I picked out and preordered today was what I wanted most from this collection. Plus I go to pick my swirls, so I am happy.

At least for now until I get the urge to order the rest of the mineralized prodcuts. But I am trying to remain strong and not get sucked in by the pretty swirls.
