I was just going to say, I think this might be the grey/purple lippie I have been looking for. Kind of reminds me of the Epic lipstick that katred showed us awhiles ago. It was a purpley-grey lipstick, but was out years ago before I knew about MAC. Fingers crossed it's similar. We won't know until katred comes on here and let's us know whether or not it's similar.

It's not like Epic at all, sorry hon....

I actually keep my (super old school, non-bullet) tube of Epic just to take it out and look at it for old time's sake - it's hideously turned and I wouldn't dare wear it anymore.

I'm pretty sure it was either the first or one of the first MAC lipsticks I ever bought.

Epic is MUCH greyer and somewhat lighter too. It honestly reads more like purple-tinged grey more than grey-tinged purple on me and I have red lips too! The texture sounds very similar though: Epic was a very opaque, semi-matte. It was also pretty darn drying on the lips - at least modern formulas don't do that baloney so often anymore.

One day, I hope someone brings back an Epic-style color, although that Estee Lauder Gunmetal Luminizer gives a look that's nearly as greyed out and you can layer it over anything. I bought that baby after just one glance - it's very awesome!

well, i usually completely avoid the MAC online-only frenzies......

the hassle to uniqueness ratio is usually too low for me and i just skip.

THIS TIME, though, it looks like I'm gonna have to join in the buffalo stampede, partly for the beautiful, rich color and especially for SEMI-MATTE AMPLIFIED - I mean, what is that all about?????

One thing - I didn't bother with Ruffian and to my surprise, all the nail sets were at my local store last week. It seems they got a big stack of them in unexpectedly, without any forewarning. They didn't even have a display for them - they just stacked a few up at the registers. Maybe as a huge L.A. store, they'll get a few of these lipsticks in too? Here's hoping!

. Maybe we will get our wishes in one of the upcoming future collections or at least something very very close to it.

I need to look into this Estee Lauder Gunmetal luminizer now that you mentioned it.

lol sometimes I don't even know why I call stores. I called Chanel recently and the rep didn't even know about the lippies/nail polishes that were coming out for FNO. Most of the time we know more than them :/

Lol I get the "huh" look all the time. I hate when I go into Mac and need brushes, they have no idea what the brushes look like when I ask for them obviously by number, I've had to literally pick them out myself because if i dont, I have to wait for them to look at each number on the brushes, so frustrating.

Have you tried the Rimmel new Smokey topcoat, #15 from the Kate Moss collection? It sounds similar and if it is, I can avoid the EL counter.

That was me and VG Nicki. I just couldn't support the foolishness that NM serves on the regular so I got a different VG instead (I always support the cause even if I don't like the current spokesperson). I don't know enough about AB to want to avoid the purchase so "birthday gift to self" it will be!

i only care about the color!! im a madonna fan but i got both gaga lippies, i dont hate lady gaga but at the same time dont listen to her music. and they looked terrible on me, but i still didnt returned them because they are for a good cause . then i got the nicki lipstick and i dont even know who she is and i would never listen to her music,or admire her persona. luckily this time the color looks good on me.
god we could have a very long conversation regarding the new breed of singers like katy perry, lana del rey, gaga, nicki, this azelia.

Im going to buy this lippie because im in a vampy kick right now and vampy lips are in this fall/winter. i nominate adele for the next viva glam!!!! she's better than all those wannabes together!!

I have no knowledge of who AB is, and don't really keep up with pop music. Of course, some personas are unavoidable to become cognicient of...(Gaga comes to mind.) I'm buying the lipstick for the colour, and it being mac lipstick - their lipstick formulas seem to mesh best with me when I compare to other brands. I never buy something solely for celebrity endorsement either, for me it's just a fun coincidence. I suppose though, if you really dislike a character who happens to have their face or autograph emblazoned on a product so that you can't avoid but to be disturbed everytime you pick it up, it would be off putting enough to not want to purchase it! That said, I don't think I'd want anything with a celeb's face on it! The autographs on the new breed of viva glam are bad enough - they're kinda borderline for me: not off putting enough to keep me from buying a lipstick I like. Marilyn Monroe I see as being kind of exceptional that way - her image has become a graphic icon, and I associate it more with the idea of the person than with the person themself. Anyway, that said, I'm not actually planning on getting anything from that collection. LIBA - that luminizer sounds very cool! I didn't realize it existed! It sounds very unusual for EL! (Or perhaps my idea of what EL is needs a refresh!) Was it an LE thing, or still out there?

It's part of the new fall lipstick color extensions. There are a few others too, like a pale frost effect, a gold, etc. I think the Gunmetal one is LE, while the others are perm, though. I honestly don't think I've ever bought an EL lipstick before, though I think I used to have one years ago that came with a gift set, but I bought this in one second and am going to wear the heck out of it as soon as fall really hits here. I haven't backed it up yet, since it's only something I'd wear in fall/winter, but I may still BU - it really is unique and I haven't even done a lot of layering experimentation with it yet - my lips are red enough that I can get away with wearing it alone.

EL is certainly getting more daring with their colors, though this one is the sort of thing that'll give us older gals some 80's/90's nostalgia too!

I've been wanting to try a vampy lipstick like this one Katy Perry is wearing so maybe YR will do the trick? I assume YR is more purple, but I still want to try it unless it's too much on NW20.
