So what are the pressed pigments for exactly? I thought they were eyeshadows, but the colour story gives them an NW/NC number, so that makes them look like more for your skin, no? Or are they just skin coloured eyeshadows? I was hoping for colours. Hohum.

Thank you, Kimibos. I'm interested in the pressed pigments.

Highlighting and contouring of eyes/face.

Personally, I will use them for contouring/highlighting my eyes. There is nothing better than a well-defined eye socket (any additional color then becomes optional).

Thank you, Mac-Guy! I had also thought they were eyeshadows, but can be used as a highlighter, so now I know exactly what pressed pigments are.

Finally! I know I've asked the question about pressed pigments a few times with no answer. I also thought they were eye shadows. So why use these over other highlighters like the Heavenly Creature MSFs? What makes them better?

So should one get the pressed pigment that is closest to one's skintone (like I'm NC20 and I shoud go for the pigment in NW20)?

If you want to contour your eyes, I recommend that you use at least two, better three, shades. You want to create dimension and therefore you need darker and lighter shades. If you want to highlight your face, then go a shade lighter than your natural complexion. I wouldn't use NW on NC complexion for face applications (or vice versa), but for the eyes, both can look stunning when it is well done.

I'm getting all six of them as I really love to contour eyes in an intricate way.

Thank you! But bummer, I don't know what to get now because there's no light NC shade for my face and I don't have young eyes (no socket!) any more

With some practice, you can definitely "carve out" a beautiful eye socket. You can also even out your face/eyes by strategically placing darker and lighter shades if necessary. It's all about placing the shades in the right spots. :)

Same goes for contouring your cheek bones, jawline, temples, nose, and hairline. For example, if you have a massive forehead, contouring your hairline will really do wonders in a very natural way. It's also like an instant face lift (not that you need one, I'm just saying).

One method that is used in character make up can help you to learn contouring: If you want to practice, get a really dark color (much darker than your natural complexion) and practice on your face. You will see how these dark shadows will create dimension to your face and bring out "desirable" bone structure. Or, if placed in the wrong spots, will age you or highlight flaws in your bone structure. When you have an idea where to place the products, give it a go with "your" color. If it is well done, it is certainly subtle with no visible edges.

I hope that helps.

Okay, now it makes sense. I wondered why the swatches were so sheer, despite several swipes, my SA was busy with customers so I never did ask. #lightbulbmoment! Knowing this now, my list just shrunk down to two.

I had the order of swatches on my iPhone, but deleted it when I initially decided not to post swatches. The only ones I know for sure are Spot Lit and Deeply Dashing - the rest are guesses from memory:

Left to right: Spot Lit, Deeply Dashing, Light Touch, Warming Heart, Beaming, Day Gleam

Hope not! No, my only problem is the aging lids. I've been thinking that I better use a matte shade to 'contour' my hanging upper lids (although I don't do this very often). Thus a glittering pigment might not be the best product for that job. (But I can always buy one for the moving lid!)

I def have to practice my zero contouring skills, too. Thank you for the tips!

So I take a nap and they sneak in a purple lippy with an Amplified finish on me? No idea who Azalea Banks or her alter ego is yet, but this could be everything I wanted Kittenish lippy from FF to be...

I love the Kittenish lippie from FF, but like you, I would have preferred it amplified and more purple/grey (if that is what you meant, sorry if I am misinterpreting. I am looking forward to this lippie. I also hope we get some info soon on the AW 2012-2013 collections soon.

I use a technique I saw on you tube. My phone won't let me paste the link but if you do a search for makeupwithgabriela contour then a tutorial called "how to-contour and highlighting in a natural way" should appear. I really like this technique to contour and plan to use the new contour creams in this way

I didn't even buy Kittenish - it was way too warm for me. Cunning, on the other hand, was great. THEN, Musky Amethyst came along. It was the exact shade as Cunning, but a way more useable texture. I'm very picky with vampy colors and Musky Amethyst and Prince Noir are the best ones I own, for color + texture + ease of use.

I wanted to love Fervent, but it's a pain to apply evenly. I missed out on Faultlessly F/W - I wonder if that one was easier to apply, but w/e - eventually MAC will do a similar color with an up to date texture.

. Faultlessly F/W I had hoped would be easier to apply and the color is just way too dark for me (and that is saying something cause I love me some vampy dark purple colors). I have to use a lighter lippie underneath to ease the color. I haven't worn it in quite some time. Maybe I need to give it another chance. I am going to start pulling out all my vampy Fall/Winter shades soon anyhow.
