MAC for Marilyn

Now I am worried about the blushes showing up on me. I don't know what my MAC coloring is but I wear Medium Tan in the READY foundation and Medium in any Tarte foundation. I don't have a MAC counter near me to go get matched. Next time I am in Atlanta I will get matched. Or maybe when we go to Orlando in December.

Freestanding in Concord sold out - even the testers were gone - I was peeved. All the artist at the pre-sale yesterday said it was sold out online and the only places sold are at stores on the 4th. Checked PRO online, in the morning yesterday they were available but now when I log on majority of them say "coming soon".

I went into my local MAC today to see if they had Marilyn in the back room to test. And, yes, they did. Let me first say, i really like the special packaging. It's simple, elegant, and even classy, with pictures of Marilyn that haven't been overdone.

LIPS
I didn't bother with the lipsticks, since i don't wear reds and i have enough nudes that don't work and a few that do.

I did test the Dazzleglasses, because i can't resist some good glitter, and they do sparkle madly and beautifully, but i knew i wouldn't be buying them; i just got the LE Boundlessly Beige Pro Longwear Lipglass from Office Hours, and while it isn't the same, it sure seemed close to, although cooler than, Phiff!; and i have Pleasure Principle Dazzleglass from last year's Glitter & Ice, and that's close enough to Little Rock for me.

CHEEKS
I didn't test the blushes. As i have said elsewhere, i'm pretty much blushed out, having gotten so many in the past 2 years.

I DID test the Beauty Powder. It has a very smooth matte base that is sort of creamy yellowish off-white. I thought i saw a sparkle or two in it, but it is not shimmery. Even on my neutral-15 inner arm it looked rather chalky, so it needs to be used with a light touch and blended out well. I definitely don't need it, nor do i crave it. I've been looking at NARS Nico and NARS Albatross, which are pale off-whites that have shimmer and aren't chalky, and with NARS upcoming Andy Warhol collection, i know i'll be at the NARS counter soon.

EYES
I did test the eye shadows. They are shimmery but very smooth and not glittery. They can go on very sheer for a hint of color and shimmer, or they can go on densely for an almost metallic look -- and, of course, you can put them on somewhere in between. I was so disappointed with Ever Ivory from Office Hours - matte which is not for me, and so sheer and not terribly buildable. So i really wanted to see what i thought of the Veluxe Pearls 'How to Marry' ("Soft White") and 'Preferred Blonde' ("Pale champagne beige"). I decided that i preferred 'Preferred Blonde' - it's quite light in color but has a nice hint of warmth, while HTM is very cool white and when built up almost like white silver, which wasn't what i was looking for, but will undoubtedly work for many other folks. Showgirl - the blue-grey - is nice, too, but i rarely wear greys or blues.

While i knew i wouldn't be hauling much from this collection, i'm definitely only getting one thing. Of course, that means i'll have more to spend on the two Holiday collections, Glamour Daze and Fabulousness.

Oh Shontay - I really did Laugh Out Loud when I read your comment that she looked like she was sitting on the toilet  :D
Someone else mentioned that awhile ago and I cracked up. I was thinking the same, but didn't bother to say it because people probably already think I'm weird.

Oh Yeah, another question I have been meaning to ask since quantities seem to be becoming even more limited at the stores (saw it in this thread and was told by my MAC SA during Style Seeker launch about stores only getting 4-5 of an item) do MAC SA's get gratis? I would think that if a store only gets 4-5 of an item, those would all be bought up by SA's and SA's friends/family...even with a gratis, if they loved an item! 4-5 is not enough stock!
Yes, MAC artists did get gratis - I remember seeing it in some pictures of the MAC bible color story - there were symbols by certain items that were eligible for gratis. I do remember that it was limited to just a few items - namely Deeply Adored lipstick (so MAC artists would have the items and be equipped to do the standard face charts).

What I would figure is that the stores were given an auto-shipment of gratis items along with their stock for the collection, but it might not have matched up to the number of employees. I figure this in with my knowledge of my work place - we don't get gratis, but sometimes t-shirts or other items come in pre-determined sizes or quantities and the numbers don't always match up to how many employees we have; the warehouse/merchandisers determine a set number that they allow each store to receive. I would think this same method would similarly apply to the MAC stores.

I think Crew is much warmer than Forever Marilyn. Although MAC says FM is a "sheer pale peach highlighter", it certainly did not look at all peach to me, rather it looked sort of cream colored, that is leaning a tiny tad yellowish.

Christine of Temptalia described Crew as:
"a multi-colored highlighting powder that has three primary shades: soft peach-orange with an almost matte finish, subtly yellow-toned light-medium pink with a satin-like finish, and a cool-toned pink-lilac with a satin finish. There’s also creamy beige hue, but this is an overlay of color and does not go all the way through."
And she includes a photo of the creamy beige excavated away, so you can see that underneath it's the colors of the raised ridges. So it's really mostly pink and orange with a tad of lilac. That's very different from Forever Marilyn which is all one pale color.

So I went and tried Pure Zen today at Macys in Wheaton mall in silver springs, and while looking at Pure Zen the MUA said that they are pre-selling the Marilyn collection so I got all the lippies, but Pure Zen I got from the regular collection with my B2M so I'm super happy no more loosing sleep for me oh and I got to get BUs too she had to objections to it. She took all my stuff put it in a bag with my receipt and stapled it shut and said it'll be there for me on the 4th, too bad I'll be out of town until the 8th so I'll pick it up then. I have some swatches I got a new phone right after and now I can't find the pics. Love Goddess is amazingly beautiful I am in love with it!

That was me if you are talking about the dazzleglass photo of MM looking like she is sitting on the toilet! But now that I think about it, it's even funnier that the dazzleglass is also called Phiff! LOL

I find Smut to be a very versatile color, so there are LOTS of beautiful combos. One of my fave looks is to use a light color on the inner part of the lid (anything like Naked Lunch, Vanilla, Vex, etc), Satin Taupe in the center of the lid (another fave e/s of mine), and Smut on the outside corner and into the crease and smoke it out. For a little more drama, you can also use Smut on the lower lash line and smudge it. Just one of many possibilities!
Thanks. I have Vex, Satin Taupe and Smut. I will try that combo tomorrow.

 Oh man, I forgot to add another rave for Love Goddess. I wore it when I ran out the house for a bit today. I'm so amazed that it's a Satin because I don't have the easiest time with those things. I usually have to blot one on and make sure I prep my lips properly because they can be drying. Love Goddess is completely different. I can apply it full on from the tube and there's nothing drying about it. I can't say enough great things about this color. A perfect mix of red and pink. I am definitely getting another. This is an all-time favorite color for me and that says a lot.

mac has to release this on the regular site already! I almost got my phone taken away when I was checking MAC's website during class!

Luckily it was one of my favorite teachers that 1) is super nice and 2) loves how I do my makeup to where she asks how I do it/ stopped going over homework in front of the class to say "I'm sorry I keep staring at you I just love how you did your makeup!" so I didn't get in trouble but if MAC would put this on the site already then I wouldn't have to do this!

So it would seem to me that stores that only get 4-5 of an item, are not even providing enough stock to supply their own employees with ample quantity for their own personal purchases...and we haven't even thought about the customers yet!

Maybe that's why the Customer Service lady told elegant-one that it wasn't going online until the end of the week. That way we'll let our guards down and the MAC MA's can go order it all up as soon as it hits the site.

I am pretty surprised it hasn't launched yet! I am stalking hard. On my laptop, phone, and work computer.

my list is..

Preferred Blonde
How to Marry
Both Blushes
BP

I cant decide on the lipstick(s) I want. At first I was thinking Deeply adored. I love Fire Sign and Russian Red. They are my only mac reds. If I have these two, which one is going to be most unlike RR and FS?
