MAC for Marilyn

I just want to stress that it sucks, but there is still counter launches and other retail launches online. I think there were a lot of Marilyn collectors too not just like a normal collection. Plus, I still really think it was SUUUUPER LE with low production numbers. JMO. I get how bad it sucks to wait and wait but being super tired makes everything feel worse than it is. There is still hope to get what you want.

Definitely call your counters before they launch to see if they can hold anything for you! Mine don't preorder (that I know of) so I always call before they open the day of launch to have things put on hold for me. Works most of the time.

Nordstrom usually does release around midnight, so try checking them out. Another member posted a convo with a Nord's rep saying that it'll be released Oct. 2nd.

This is also a reminder of how important it is to develop good relationships with the MUA at your local store/counter (if you have one within reasonable driving distance). Sometimes, they say you can't pre-order, but if you've already established a good relationship with someone there, the odds of being able to put things aside are much higher!!!

I wonder if random Marilyn Monroe collectors bought from this collection? Maybe that's why it went so fast... but I think I'm just trying to rationalize why Mac sold out so quick.

The rate that the lipsticks sold out is ridiculous! I know MAC wants to make money, but my goodness! Why wouldn't they have the forethought to overstock so everyone would be able to purchase at least one lipstick? I wanted all the lipsticks except Pure Zen. Unfortunately, I didn't get anything due to the sellouts. Congrats to all who were able to purchase what they desired. I hope I can get them at one of the stores on October 4. I have a few MAC stores and counters near where I work and live. Keeping fingers crossed.

All the products came in at my local store yesterday, so I'm going in to check out everything in person this morning (thanks to my dear shopping pals there - I sure needed a full night's sleep

).


I'm still figuring on 1-3 lipsticks and only possibly the BP or Showgirl. I'm so full up on blush, it's easy to resist. I'll come around in the afternoon with my impressions!

I don't know how much of the sales went towards collectors, but I do think that they account for some of the sales. I have friends who don't even like MAC but ordered one item from each product category, just to add to their collections.

I would think it goes by who placed their orders first but who knows. I chose overnight shipping just to be safe and when I called mac to check the status they said it was already in the warehouse. I hope they don't have any overselling problems and everyone gets their orders.

I really hope everyone got what they wanted. And if anyone didn't, just think how much more unique the holiday collection items would be! This collection just had simple colors/products with Marilyn's face on it. Many things were dupable/perm. The holiday collection will be even better and there will be way more quantities of everything. And there's still a chance for everyone to get all the Marilyn items in store or on the Macy's/ Nordstrom websites.

I also think it's ridiculous and won't be able to purchase anything from the collection. It's just frustrating. I think I am done with MAC. There are so many other brands that launch less collection throughout the year so that will save me some money. Even if I switch over to Chanel, it's cheaper than purchasing stuff from MAC. Sorry for the rant but I am getting tired of the limited edition hype.

Hey .. i'm a little confused about this shipping protocol .. I placed my order as soon as the collection came up on the site this morning .. I chose standard shipping - does that mean that my order could potentially be cancelled/told it sold out because people who used Overnight Shipping get first dibs (regardless of time of order?)

No - the overnight does NOT get first dibs on product it is who placed the order first. I have confirmed this a few times through MAC CS. HTH
