MAC for Marilyn

The sad thing about this release is their will probably be alot of the nail polishes and lip liner show up at CCO in the very near future. They should have passed on these and just focused this release on just l/s and made enough of them to go around for everyone. The lip liners are in the permanent line and are cheaper and the nail polishes are dupable and can be bought by OPI or someone who makes a much better quality nail polish. This was a meh collection until everyone saw how limited the pro release was and then everyone panicked. MAC did this. They got what they wanted. It is all about supply and demand. They have been notorious for this all year now. I have been buying MAC since 2003 and have never seen anything like this. Yes, there have been collections that have sold out in a day or so, but none where they had to furnish security. I may trade my Marilyn stuff in for gold bars.....

Rant over. I just feel bad for anyone who was not able to get at least some of the things they wanted from this collection.

Right...I can't always know ahead of time that I want a product. Sometimes I decide later and then it is gone. Annoying. I would be good if they cut back on collections that lasted longer. I think customers would be happier.

I so agree with this. All of these multiple collections each month and back to back is too frantic. The hectic pace just wears you out. It doesn't have to go back to being one collection per season. But at least cut down to one collection per month so we can wrap our heads around it before the next collection comes rolling out. I'm exhausted!

All this talk of FM backups is making me want to brave my local MAC store just to see if they have some left . I shouldn't though until I try it at least. I'm going over to ups to pick up my order soon. Interested in comparing it to my Guerlain Meteorites (love)!

out of Play It Proper (don't even want to break into my FM) and I feel like it reminds me of my Meteorites. I need to see if they have one with peach ballz.

stuff like this makes me think that mac should be really be doing something against this. it's ridiculous beyond belief. i would really like to know how these people gain access to them. especially the ones who had the products before and soon after the pro release.

I don't know, I have never ever had any product do for my skin what the FM BP does. Only Elude is close. It has the perfect no sheen - sheen. Matte but not really matte. And, on me it lasts all day.

I also ordered a backup of Legendary from Belk! Thanks so much for posting the link.

Oh, the BP is just as flawlessly pretty on your decollete/ upper chest area too.

Do we know any dupes for the Forever Marilyn BP?

I am wondering about Guerlain Meteorites. I have mythic but it doesn't have peach ballz in it. I need to swatch at Sephora (hate going to the Nordstrom Guerlain counter as they can be kind of pushy).

I think it would be cool if MAC could come with something similar to FM beauty powder and sell it as refill to the packaging we have I really like the packaging and I would probably keep it after using up FM. I'm not backing it up though. I can't stick to one thing, I always want to try something different. So my next purchase will be Guerlain Meteorites. I was looking at them for a while and now that they are compared to FM, they are a must try for me at least.

out of Play It Proper (don't even want to break into my FM) and I feel like it reminds me of my Meteorites. I need to see if they have one with peach ballz.

I have a couple shades of the Guerlain meteorites and i do think FM is really similar. I feel like FM shows my pores a little more than the Meteorites. The neat thing about he meteorite perles is that you can take out colors of the pearls you don't want in there. All of mine have a peach shade in there so you could make it more peach or more white or whatever by taking some out sometimes. they are really fun to play with.

Time to share my second Marilyn story! I felt like such a MAC ninja today, sorting out all my CPs! I ordered 6 BPs in the past 24 hours (2 for me, 4 for CPs), and phoned up my MAC store to see what they had in. When I called at 4.30pm they still had everything in stock! I reserved a DA for Audrey, and asked about LG just for the hell of it. Well, the MA found one lurking in the regular l/s drawer and set it aside for me I posted Lou's LG, got the bus into town and went straight to MAC to pick up my lippies and a Showgirl e/s. Well, they had none of the e/s left So I power-walked to the Debenhams counter and got the last Showgirl for Audrey I feel like such a CPing machine haha Side-note - as there are only these 2 places to get MAC in Wales, I wiped out an entire country's stock of Showgirl and LG. It made me laugh at least

I compared Play it Proper and FM side by side and they are very similar in colour on my skin, the only difference is that Play it Proper has more sheen to it. I'm glad I have both to be honest

Nordstrom has Pure Zen up! I just ordered one. Not sure if it has been up for a while or not.

I might return my Phiff dazzleglass now that I got Pure Zen, since it was basically an impulse purchase, unless someone here is interested in it. I haven't used it or opened it at all.

Ah yes. I'm CPing Pure Zen for her and she requested TPC but I wasn't able to get my hands on it unfortunately. I know every online retailer here is sold out, but I can try calling stores tomorrow to see if they'd ship though I don't think they do that here like they do in the US.

Gracie90, Wow you're awesome. I decided to check back on the Belk site earlier and saw that they had Deeply Adored in stock, immediately called to order, gave my info, then all of a sudden i got an "Unfortunatley mam while you we're placing your order DA sold out." Booooo, Oh well at least i was able to get SI and CIS this morning. I did some experimenting and layered Rebel over my Such Flare lipstick. Seemed pretty close to DA so i'm happy.
