When I went to my MAC store yesterday they were just doing a small-ish Marilyn event - one of the MA's was doing a Marilyn-inspired look on a model and then she walked around to showcase the final result.
I think because of the high demand of the MM collection, and that everything sold out - well, my store still had 2 of the 4 eyeshadows and all of the nail polishes, but the bulk of MM was wiped out - The MA that was doing the look is their store's trainer and she brought eeeeeeverything she was given as a sample for the Glamour Daze collection, and it was viewable to customers and able to be swatched and all of that good stuff.
It didn't dawn on me until AFTER I left the store that not all counters had this ability to see the products in person, the trainer there was being extremely generous in lieu of the Marilyn event, so I do not think the products are still available today. Because of my hindsight, I wasn't able to get pictures to share on here :-( I will try to recount as much as I saw there, to at least describe the products.
The clutch sets - I was told that the ones with the mini blush included also have a lipstick, lipglass, a brush (more like a blush brush), and an eyeliner pencil. They're a "touch up" kit, and they're pretty hefty! The ones with the mini blush are MAC store exclusive (and maybe MAC online as well, but Nordstrom/Macy's counters will not be getting the clutches with mini blushes). The blushes in the sets are different than the ones offered with the main part of the Glamourdaze collection. I can't remember the name of the one that was on display - the blush inside had something to do with "Love" in the name. I have a horrible memory of what the actual blush name was.
The inside portion where the products lay can pop out, leaving just a middle plastic divider and the top part with an elastic pocket where the brush is housed. The purpose of the plastic tray popping out is that then the clutch can be used as a clutch! It was pretty big inside, and looked like you could then put a bunch of other stuff in it, but a little smaller than a checkbook-style wallet. The packaging itself is incredibly hefty! The cloth on top is cloth, and I suspected it might get a little dirty after a while, depending on which color was chosen. The one they had on display was a yellow satin color.
The vanity bag is absolutely gooorrgeous. I wasn't able to open it up myself, but it's basically clear plastic overlayed on yellow satin. The plastic overlay is what has the lace and leopard print designs. It did not seem cheesy or cheap, and looked better quality than something you might find at other department stores this time of year. The material felt thick and like it wouldn't bust or break very easily. I'm not sure if it would be worth the $40-50 pricetag on durability alone (it is a lot of money to spend on plastic), but I've decided even before seeing it in person, that it's worth it to me. It's absolutely adorable and I know I would get a lot of use out of it!
They had a few lipsticks on display - Outrageously Fun (pink) and Innocence (coral). They did not have Beauty. and there was a purple, but I didn't look at the label to determine if it was Dramatic Encounter or Glamourdaze they had on display. It was a deep purple color, though. I did not swatch the dark purple lipstick.
Innocence reminds me of a frosty Reel Sexy with a pinch of coral added in. It's not peachy, but it's definitely a light coral with frost. I might pre-order that one!
Outrageously Fun is definitely bright! I would describe it as Candy Yum Yum minus the highlighter and add some purple. Its description of it being a midtone magenta violet is dead on. It has a bit of a Violetta-type shimmer cast to it, so I'm not quite sure what the finish is. Swatching it on my hand I wasn't absolutely in love with it - it reminded me of an opaque Pink Popcorn in a way. IF these samples are still there the next time I come in to place a pre-order, I will definitely be toting some of my lipstick stash with me, to swatch and compare.
Fluidlines - Catch My Eye - cool taupe grey with dazzle pearl, Little Black Bow - charcoal with dazzle pearl, Feminine Edge - pink mauve with dazzle pearl
Catch My Eye - reminded me of Urban Decay's Uzi. It's almost a silvery gray, which I think would be awesome on the lower lash line, or as a highlight in the outer corner where the top and bottom lids meet. I personally was not very drawn to this color, as it immediately reminded me of any other light silver color. It was very pretty though, and I think if you absolutely love fluidlines, CME will be no exception! Little Black Bow - this color is like a lighter Midnight Snack with pearl. I'm on the fence with this one. It does look gorgeous, but it also looks passable. Again, if you absolutely love fluidlines, you might have a different thought. I just didn't think it was something that I would absolutely need to have. But it still might be nice to have! Feminine Edge - ohhhhh this color is divine! I'm just not sure how I would use it. It's definitely a deeper version of Let's Skate, and is more opaque in that sense, too. Let's Skate is pretty shimmery and can be sheered out. I can get the same effect with Feminine Edge, however it seems just a bit more prone to giving coverage. I think it would make a great base, but not quite sure how eyeliner application would work with this? I'm also on the fence with this one. Blushes -Easy Manner - light dirty peach, Small Vanity - dusty rose tan, I'm the One - midtone blue pink Easy Manner - For some reason this color looked almost like Full of Joy in the pan. I didn't really see the peach too much. The display where the items were was right by the door and there was natural light, so maybe that's what changed my perceptions. On the skin, it definitely did look peachy and almost like a fair version of Melba. I think it would be great for an every day sort of look, but I'm probably going to bring in some of my LE Coral/Peach blushes and compare them side-by-side the next time I'm in there. Small Vanity - this looks gorgeous in the pan! I think deeper complexions would get the best use out of this one, but fear not for lighter complexions: it looks totally buildable. I swatched a teeny tiny bit on the back of my hand and it had almost kind of a reddened look to it. I think on the cheeks it will be a gorgeous color for the winter months, and it seems to follow in the same vein as the Tres Cheek blushes - totally buildable and a great satiny texture that isn't chalky and blends really well. I'm The One - I might snag this one, pending if it looks too much like NARS Angelika or Gaiety. It does look super pretty in the pan, and I loved the impression of it when I swatched it. I think this one will probably sell out first, followed by Small Vanity. Lipglasses - Impossibly Sweet - sheer soft pink with multi-dimensional pearl, Deliciously Demure - soft cool brown with pearl, Talk Softly to Me - light creamy coral pink, Pink Fade - light creamy pink, Flight of Fancy - rich purple Impossibly Sweet - I actually really love this one! It is pretty sheer and reminds me a LOT of a Dazzleglass, but I think you get more bang for your buck in this one. Also, it's not silky like a dazzleglass, it definitely has that infamous lipglass texture, but it did not seem to be as honey thick. So think more in the vein of the recently released lipglasses, it seems like the formula is changing ever so slightly, however it still has a thickness to it. I will probably be picking this up. This color is definitely in the same family as Social Light, but a little on the sheer side. The sparkles in it are to die for! Deliciously Demure - this is like a taupe brown, but a little smidge on the sheer side, with a hint of frost to it. It looks perfect for winter time, and the MA placed it next to Easy Manner blush and they look like the perfect pair! I'm not sure if I'll snag this one, as I like my browns to have a rose-hint to them, but it is a pretty color that I think would be worth looking into. I couldn't think of a lipglass dupe off the top of my head. Talk Softly to Me - this reminded me of Orange Tempura, but maybe a smidge more on the pink side. It's definitely an opaque gloss that might lean to the milky side. If you have Orange Tempura, you can probably easily skip this, as I think pairing with Innocence lipstick would still give a similar effect. Pink Fade - this is a repromote, it's like a whitened version of Viva Glam Gaga lipglass. It looks like it might be best paired with Beauty lipstick, which wasn't on display yesterday. This shade might be difficult for a majority of people to pull off. It definitely has a white cast to it, think Fresh Amour mattene from Posh Paradise. Flight of Fancy - another repromote. I think this is a pretty color, just not sure if it's something I will grab. I can definitely see why it's so popular though, and why its anxiously awaiting a return. The MA suggested layering it over Outrageously Fun lipstick, or a red lipstick, and it looked really pretty over OF! Extra Dimension Eyeshadows - so, because of my strike against these, I looked at them through the packaging but I did not swatch a single one. I just determined they are not for me and I'm going to look past them. The MA said that maybe since they're samples, they might change the size of them, so I'm not sure how likely that is. I just decided to skip out since I got a majority of the ones that launched in the spring, and with the $19.50 price tag for these upcoming ones, I just don't want to invest in the product. There weren't any kohl liners or nail lacquers on display at the store. My store is doing a seminar/unveiling on November 7 for the products. I signed up for it because I thought it would be fun! I might snag some of the sets during that time, if they're available. Whew! Sorry for a long-winded impression lol but I hope that makes up for not having taken pictures of these wonderful products!
