I prefer shopping online because it's easier, faster and gives me time to browse freely. I also don't want SAs hovering while I shop. It makes me feel rushed or like I'm being watched. The weird thing is I'm not big on samples either. However, I want the option to decline a sample versus never being offered one.
They only have the real GWPs at specific times CartoonChic, so maybe you've not been around at one of those times yet? Why don't you ask your SA if any are coming up in the near future and see what she says? She should be happy to include you just based on all the nail polish and lipstick purchases you've mentioned to us. But in general I feel like you & Shontay do about samples and about online vs counter shopping, especially since my nearest counter is really very far and I usually give away the samples as extras in MUA swaps.
Yup. I just prefer to click away. Plus, I find that items become available online first before it hits stores. I am so impatient! I don't want to be distracted by chitchat while browsing. Makeup is serious business, OK? Plus, if we have a nice little interaction I might feel like a boob for not buying something. I don't like that kind of pressure. My local Mac is the only place I bother to show my face on a consistent, maybe monthly basis. I want them to remember me well enough to invite me to events. Sometimes I don't get the mailer, so I show up and they give me an invite. :D I put a pic of Notorious on Instagram (which I just signed up for and I don't know why) and it got so many likes.

A pic of you wearing it, Shontay? I'd love to see it. I was inspecting my face this morning and thinking, "Yeah, you could use some contouring."

I haven't tried it on yet, MissTT. When I do, I'll try and post a pic. I don't know if it'll show since I don't want to make it super obvious in real life. I might give it a go tomorrow or, at the latest by the weekend.

Interesting discussion about samples and GWPs. My wonderful Chanel SA left a couple years ago, so another SA "adopted" me. She's an incredibly nice person who always calls to let me know about new products/collections. However, I've noticed that she rarely, if ever, offers me samples no matter how much I buy. Recently I bought four brushes and a l/s and got nothing, while the person before me bought a mascara and received four samples from the Le Blanc collection without even asking.

I'm not sample obsessed or anything, but when you plunk down that much money and don't get even one sample to try, I think it's bad customer service. I finally ended up asking for the same samples after she handed me my bag. She also failed to invite me to a Chanel makeover event after I asked her on several occasions to please invite me to the next one. I can't figure out if she doesn't like me, takes me for granted, or is just plain forgetful. I always used to try to support my local counter and wait to get collections. But with poor customer service and the added tax I pay locally, I'm starting to think online is the way to go. And yes, I'm also impatient! lol! Oh, and one more thing, although it doesn't happen too often I like being able to return items with no questions.

Just curious though...Has anyone ever switched SAs (who work at the same counter) after years of buying from one of them?

peanut - funny, we were both writing about being impatient at the same time

And I agree too, like you, if I ever want to return something which is very rare, I would rather do it from an online order since my stores are so far away

Here's a post on the Illusion D'Ombre: http://bestthingsinbeauty.blogspot.com/2012/10/chanel-apparence-illusion-dombre-long.html I want this thing now! I am so disappointed my NM doesn't have this yet. I don't even like NM, but I'd go there for this collection. Can some department store in my mall get this already??

I haven't had to switch SAs however I have witnessed SAs play favoritism among their customers. I remember the day the new perfume was released and as soon as I walked to the counter, my SA handed me a sample. There were other people who asked if samples were available and the SAs lied with a straight face and said no. But they were hand picking who to give them too, and stuff like that happens all the time.

When it comes to events they are only calling their vip clients and once they fill up their time slots, that's it. That's why I told my SA not to bother calling me so she can give my time slot to someone else. If it were me I wouldn't shop at that counter and subject myself to blatant disrepect. There are too many options especially with on-line so you certainly don't have to spend your money where its not appreciated.

I now make a lot of my purchases online simply because I don't want to feel pressure to buy. In the past, I have made large purchases at my local/nearby Chanel counters, so now it is almost expected by the SAs. They kiss up to me like there is no tomorrow and follow me around chatting about every product. It is really annoying.

When I shop at another mall (that I like) which is a distance away & where none of the Chanel SAs really know me, I am pretty much ignored.

Back OT: I am really anxious for this collection to be released!

It looks stunning! I need it! Has anyone seen the duo, Nuit-Claire (Rosy beige, deep black)? I want to see swatches, although I already feel I need it.

This happened to me over the weekend. I ordered Excentrique RA online from Nordstrom with some other items and opted to pick it up in the store. I was already going to the mall and wanted to get my parking validated. Excentrique was canceled from my order because they were out of stock. I swung by the Chanel counter just to swatch Excentrique again (and to make sure they were really out of stock). The SA was trying to get me to look at Tom Ford lipsticks. It felt like she was just trying to get me to buy something more expensive, so I declined. I don't like feeling like I'm being sold something if that makes sense.

I ordered MAC Beet, Cherry and Redd with my Excentrique order. They should be delivered today. Can't wait to try them out. I'm thinking Beet could pair with L'Impatiente.

Thanks, I'll ask my local SAs and will see what they say. I think I may start ordering some things from different counters and just have them delivered to take advantage of GWPs.

A special request for you to wear it today and post a pic! I haven't attempted to contour yet, but I'm now intrigued by Notorious. I'd love to see how it looks on a deeper complexion before taking the plunge to get it. If it looks good on you, then I'll more than likely get it. I'll order from Chanel's website. The shipping has been super fast. I placed an order around 1:30am yesterday for Coromandel RA and a few more polishes (a little late night shopping) and it amazingly shipped yesterday at 11:30am. That's a turnover time of only 10 hours. My order should be delivered tomorrow!

OK, I bought Notorious online last night. I can't wait to try it. I am on a contouring kick since I learned how to do it correctly. Placed my order at 2 and got shipping notice at 3:30. Pretty impressive for chanel.com.

I like buying online too especially with the high taxes we have here. But I do shop at Nordstrom for my points. Getting frustrated with them lately though. They have been playing "musical counters" with some of my favorite reps.

For those interested in the differences between the two gold Illusion D'Ombre coming out. I got to see them and swatch them at Chanel Launch Party back in August. The one in the Holiday collection, Apparence is more of an antiqued gold if you will. The other, Vision is a true 24 karat gold. Different enough to own both in my opinion. I apologize if this is old news, didn't feel like reading all the pages in this thread. :)

Yes please! I think it'll give me a good idea of how it would look on me, assuming I can ever find it.
