Chanel Holiday 2012 - Eclats du Soir de Chanel

I saw the Guerlain es palette today. Its pretty but I didn't get it. I didn't get the Dragon Meteorites cause they were too glittery for me. There was no Chanel Holiday anywhere for me to see I did get to see the Dior Holiday which I thought was really pretty. Kind of a bummer MU shopping day.
And, after reading about all the sparkles in the Chanel JC, I think I will pass on it too.

Sorry the Chanel collection isn't around for you to check out, Elegant. I wore my quad for the first time today. I love it. I had to do a rush job since I rolled out of bed late, but I know it's a beautiful quad with blendable, pigmented colors. All of the colors work for me. I think I'll reach for this most days and the Mac blush I was given at Nordstroms (Love Rush) goes perfectly with it. I also tried out my new Nars Larger than Life gloss (Cosmo) with it and I really liked all of it together. So happy with this and I think I'm not going to make anymore big purchases this year. Nothing is going to compete with this, I think.

Speaking of YSL, I am getting the 5 es palette 3 Tawny. I've swatched it 3 times now & I love it. The deep brown color in it is divine.

It's alright I hope bloggers will post more swatches and reviews in the next couple of days. I already have it sitting in my cart, but it might be better if I wait until the official release, which I think is next month, for another website to have it. It might be cheaper there. I'll have to write a mail and ask if they have it, they do ship YSL but don't have it listed on their site.

Good thing you checked out the Meteorites in person and didn't order them right away.

Can't do the glitter, so yes I am so happy that I didn't get the meteorites. The YSL 5 es palette is so beautiful in person. I really love the rich brown shade in it. The other colors I love to use just above the pupil only. The texture & pigmentation is amazing.

I also had a bummy MU shopping day. I went to go pick up my Dragon Meteorites from Nordstrom. Before going upstairs to get it from Customer Service, I stopped by the Chanel counter and heard the same old story. They don't have the Holiday collection yet. Then I went by the Guerlain counter to preview the Meteorites in person. I like the way they look in the jar, but really couldn't swatch properly. There was no brush out and the SA was busy with a customer. I did swatch the Turandot palette while I was there. I don't know if the tester was bad, but I felt really meh about the quad. The colors mostly didn't stand out against my skin tone. I just thought it was nice. Nothing to make me want to buy it. So that confirms the Chanel quad for me.

I head upstairs to pick up my order. I find out that they don't have my sample gift. I also learn that the tote bag is an online only GWP. The SA did say that he'll have the sample shipped to me. I decided to make one last stop at Macy's. I was hoping they had the Holiday collection so I could get the quad. They didn't have the collection and the SA seemed very disinterested in being helpful. I was about to leave the mall, but stopped to check my Meteorites box. I opened the box and saw dusty fingerprints on the container. I walked right back to the Guerlain counter to exchange it thinking someone had opened it. She opened another box and it also had dusty fingerprints. She explained that everything is hand packed, so that's a normal occurrence. Can someone confirm this? I accepted her answer and left since the other box also had fingerprints.

As I was leaving the mall, I felt so unsatisfied by that shopping experience.

In all my years of buying makeup from various places, I have never seen or heard of anything like that. Not acceptable, IMO. :nono:

I wanted to believe that what she said was true. Since I've never purchased this product before, I don't know if it really is normal. I used to think that some MAC lipsticks I ordered over the summer were defective until I learned from this forum that they were only sweating because of the heat.

I've also never heard of dusty fingerprints on Guerlain products. I've never noticed any dusty fingerprints on any of my Guerlain items. And if that's a 'normal' occurrence then they need to change it. Either the packers need to use gloves, or there needs to be another method of packing. That's gross. People pay too much for Guerlain to find fingerprints on their products. Seriously.

The sweating of a lipstick is perfectly normal. I've received lipsticks like that through ups, I've come home with a sweaty lipstick because I was out on public transportation and even in my room where it can get hot, I've had sweaty lipsticks. However, fingerprints on a product? Not OK. I would be pissed.

Update: Chanel.com just told me some things have been pushed back to Nov 11-14 ... they are not sure but think the quad is one of them.

I am returning my JC I think. BTW they have quads at my Macy's. I just called and they have 3 in stock and since no display the testers are on a tissue behind a display aka hidden. Had anybody asked their Macy's to do a search and ship?

You know, now I do remember my Chanel SA at Nordstrom saying to check back around the last week of Oct/first week of Nov for the Holiday collection. Maybe that really is the time period Nordstrom will have it. I wonder how Neiman Marcus got it so early, even before Chanel's own website? And now with some Macy's getting bits of the collection in.

Certain counters (esp certain Saks & Neimans) often beat chanel.com to the punch, but this seems more prolonged. The person I spoke to at chanel.com said the problem lies with the shipping so maybe they ship a small quantity to the premier counters at whatever stores first and then everybody else gets the second shipment and that's what's delayed? Who knows really....

I actually saw both already! And enjoyed them enormously. So, inquiering minds want to know: which one is your fave? Texture- and colour-wise? TIA!

I love the texture of Guerlain , but the colors in Chanel suit me.
The Guerlain is a lot warmer , I am NC20.
