MAC Strength Collection Discussion (December 2012)

My mac store opens tomorrow at 7 am! Omg that's super early! Ill try to get there when they open , I need pink pigeon! (Especially because I couldn't get it the first time it was launched)

So my dear, after reading what you said about TS, will I even like it on me?

You will find a special occasion to wear it, I'm sure. Think Elude, a neutral lip, and a pop of color-all-over-wash on the lid with a pressed piggie on top.

sometimes you've gotta go through that Back Up Mania phase…I know I have. I started out never even considering backing anything up. Then one or two colors came along that were so unique, I just had to do it. THEN, some colors came around I thought were so unique, backed them up, then suddenly MAC started doing similar colors every other collection - some even better than the ones I BU'ed (CYY, I am looking at YOU). Now I'm trying to be careful about what is so perfect and unusual, it has to have a BU, or not. For every Go For It or Restrict, there's the millions of hot pinks, corals, magentas, that keep coming back, often a little better each time, or at least more in fashion for that year. Not to mention, the more lipsticks I have, the less chance I'm going to finish any individual one. And yes, the good news is that if you do find a surprise color you wind up using all the time that you didn't back up, there is usually a kind Specktrette who's got one to swap or sell you! It's happened to me (thank you ladies - you know who you are!) :grouphug:

I'm still somewhat of a MAC newbie- I started around Reel Sexy & I ended up getting a few BU from almost each collection since so now I'm starting to snap out of it a bit. I get caught up in the LE hype a lot but I'm gonna try to talk some sense into myself next time. I'm actually really proud of myself that I skipped on TT, AC & only got 3 of the 5 Strength lippies w/o BU (which might change once I see them irl tomorrow). Idk why I got AP though- I just picked up a new red Giorgio Armani lip maestro recently..I think it was because I read your post about how beautiful it is lol I'd love to buy/sell/swap with fellow Specktrettes sometime- I might have a couple that they might be interested in too. I have to go through my stuff then figure out how to gain access to the clearance bin

I wish I'd have bought a couple backups of Narcissus. I use mine only once in a blue moon because I'm gonna cry once it's gone

I was able to order mine and it shipped but it took some persistence. Minutes after the site launch, Pink Pigeon kept toggling between being in stock and sold out. Even when it was in stock, I was trying to check out and it said it was sold out. I basically kept repeating the add to bag and check out process and gave up, but then I got an e-mail confirmation for the order and eventually a shipping confirmation. It was a glitchy frustrating process and I've never experienced anything like that with a MAC launch.

After being a long time reader of Specktra I decided to join bc this collection is making me CRAZYY!!! For some reason it shows all the lippies available on the site for me but when I click it to add to my cart they say its sold out *shrugs*.. I missed out on Pink Pigeon and its bumming me out oh and Strong Woman!! Damn you MAC!!!!

Welcome!! Sorry you didn't get what you wanted. Do you have any MAC stores near you? You can try them tomorrow morning or wait & hope for a restock online. If that doesn't work out, maybe someone can CP them for you. I'm sure you'll get them somehow

Do teh MAC stores take phone orders and ship out? I hope so since I work tmrw and it would great if I could just call!

I didn't back it up. I use it a lot and don't ration myself, though, because honestly, it's one of those colors MAC does really well and often. I would bet money there will be a "Narcissus 2013" c/s/g, l/g or lipstick at some point coming up soon.

Actually, AP is the one of the very few lipsticks I backed up this year!** The only others I BU'ed were Scarlet Ibis, Party Parrot and Watch Me Simmer (which is the only one I honestly didn't really need to BU); then I wound up using Reel Sexy a ton and was down half the tube, and got a BU from a lovely Specktrette. There are others I really love and use a lot, but figure there'll be "latest and greatest" versions down the road. Not to mention, look how SI and Party Parrot came back (among others).

Don't worry! I felt like 2010 had a few, like Aristo-Cat and Hellraiser, in 2011 it was Flaunting It all the way and these types of colors are only getting more and more popular.

I bet there will be at least one for spring, maybe one in the summer Mineralize collection and a fall or winter one in 2013!!!! Some might be a little browner or a little lighter or whatever, but they'll be there!

Maybe I should try Nordstrom's for Pink Pigeon. I have one of those $20 Nordstrom notes so it would be free. I still can't believe it was gone so fast!

I admit I didn't stalk the site as much as some people have....BUT I did prob check it at least 5 times a day and more at night! All I wanted was pink pigeon!! Just one lipstick! I do spend alot on makeup but bright pink lipsticks ESPECIALLY MATTE ONES are my addiction and while other things I might really want I don't have issue with waiting for, or looking for a cheaper dupe before I have to buy it. SOOOO when I check the stupid site an hour after it's launched and pink pigeon is already sold out...THATS A PROBLEM! That's ridiculous! It never bothered me that people sale these le lipsticks on ebay for crazy amounts because I just seen it as, the people buying them are the ones deciding how much they go for...you can't charge people a price they aren't willing to pay. Before candy yum yum came out perm I thought about selling my ONE backup for extra christmas money, since I have nylon and barry m and no matter what I could always get another barry m should I run out of all of them. BUT this is freaking ridiculous! People buying so many that its sold out that fast is beyond ridiculous! Wheres the crap they pulled with the by request? They seemed to have no problem pulling people's orders who were just buying backups for themselves or a friend. I'm not someone who gets mad about stuff like this...it's there company, and they can run it how they wish...but I know pink pigeon was not more wanted then cyy and even cyy didn't sell out this fast! RANT OVER:thud:

Temptalia mentioned that even she was having problems with everything saying sold out then coming back in stock... And these were the blushes not the popular lipsticks. I know that I placed my order around 10 after it launched around 7. I was able to place everything. Pink pigeon kept saying sold out then back in stock for me. I'm guessing the Mac site had issues. Fingers crossed its just a technical issue and anyone who missed it can get their hands on it.
