Hot chocolate is still in the nordies site. At least it was last night when I checked along with some other ones.
Thanks :) I just checked and it is backordered. It says it won't ship until 1/21...I think I might try to see if the restock on the MAC website first.

I'd order it from nordies now, and if mac does restock get it then. You can always cancel the BO order from nordies. That way you won't miss out!

I think i've only used up maybe 3 lipsticks in 45+ years, but that's 'cuz: i like to switch colors, i have waaaay too many, and i don't even wear lipstick every day.

Experts say toss 'em after 1 to 4 years, depending on the expert... I understand that keeping them in the fridge helps them last longer, too, although i don't do this myself. I stop wearing mine when they smell rancid.

I've had little-used lipsticks that were still good after 10 years. It helps that i live somewhere without temperature extremes -- East Bay of San Francisco Bay Area (Berkeley/Oakland), where most of the year it's between 55 and 68 F. (circa 37 to 50 C.), although we have a few days in the low 40s (January) and a few in the mid 80s (September). And i don't turn the heat up much in the winter, so that helps, too. Also, i don't share mine, so i'm not collecting extra viruses, bacteria, and fungi from friends.

I'm sad because the MAC lipsticks i bought in the mid-1990s -- Lust (frosted pale blue violet), Grid (frosted dark blue violet), and Cyber -- finally went "off" toward the end of 2012.
I'm the same way. I need variety and options, so I constantly switch colors. It's very difficult for me to restrict myself to only a few colors at a time, let alone trying to use them up before getting something new. I haven't used up any lipsticks yet (or any makeup) and doubt I will anytime soon. I already plan to depot my lipsticks into a palette when they become old and rancid so I can keep them for archival purposes. Then I'll B2M the bullets. I'll probably have enough for my first B2M in about 10-15 years.

I have some NYX liners as well. I can never get a bright pink one tho b/c people will swatch all of the ones in stock. (smh) I hate that they are not sealed but I have found some untouched. They are a great price for what you get too. I might have to order purple rain sometime as I heard it's a dupe for MAC's Magenta pencil. I don't wear liner all the time usually I wear my lippies commando lol.
I love NYX lip pencils. They have an extenive range of colors (60 shades) and the price is inexpensive compared to MAC pencils. They also have colors that are near dupes of MAC pencils. I do find NYX pencils to be pretty one-dimensional compared to MAC. It's just pure, flat color that doesn't really build up. Like I can take Currant and adjust its intensity by pressing harder and overlaying it. I can't really do that with NYX. However, they're still an excellent buy especially for the price.

I'd say it depends on which way you want the color to go.

Various suggestions people have made already will get it to lean more purple or plum or brown or taupe...

NYX Black Berry is a black lip liner, so it will darken the color and be neutral.

I'm thinking of playing with gold eyeliner pencils and seeing where that takes it... i really need to get Handforged from Hey, Sailor.
NYX also has a gold lip pencil. That way you know it's lip safe.

I am thinking of trying NYX soon for lip pencils. I have no problems spending $$ on MAC ... except for lip pencils! I hate spending $15 on one damn pencil.

I wear burgundy lip liner with viva glam V and it looks amazing! The burgundy lip liner from NYX seems softer then some mac lip liners I've tried!

That's it. I'm gonna try em. I'll use the mac ones if i wanna wear just the liner, and the nyx ones under my lippies!

I'm mad at myself for skipping AP. I have so many reds but it just looks *perfect*. Urgggg.
I might have one for you. I bought it, I really don't know why because I don't wear reds, and I haven't tried it on yet.

I'll let you know as soon as I give it a try (unless you only want one that is BNIB).
