I'm getting rid of all my lustres! It used to be the only formula I'll wear. Now it's the only one i won't!

Lustres to me are like every other lipstick by other make up companies out there. Satins and Mattes (Mattenes too) are the main lippies I focus on, because MAC really does those well. Okay, maybe Amplified and Cremesheens too. But I have too many Lustres and they don't last long at all.

Really? The newest lustres from 2012 were really good - good coverage, good wear, comfortable/not drying. Stuff like Flamingo, Cusp of Dawn, Venus, Pink Popcorn…..

I never liked the old lustres that were so sheer and drying, even though I have a soft spot for Pervette.

Of those i only have cusp of dawn. Haven't touched it.

i actually love lustres and mattes. nothing in between. like lustres are good for the no makeup looks and mattes are good for every occasion!
i agree liba, lustres are not drying. i only have the 2011-012- ones not old ones. maybe those were bad?

The old ones would chap my lips pretty easily.

I love mattes because they just look better on me. Are you getting rid of your lustres because of the finish or the "snow" that they have a tendency to form??

Just the finish. When i first started in makeup, I'd only wear gloss. No lipstick ever! Then lustres (high tea, plink) with gloss on top. No liner. Now i wear bold mattes with liner or my signature nude creme d nude, alone or with a nude gloss on top. I only use lustres on clients now. The "snow" isn't harmful tho. Just wipe and go!

I feel the same. I don`t understand why they put out so many lovely colors and so many ls in this formula, which I find drying and it stays so little on lips. MAtte & amplified are my favorites. I could use a colored lipbalm instead of a luster with the same effect but more nurturing

oh, Lustre... I've got mixes feelings too, due to the fact I've got pigmented lips (MLBB? Craving XD or Plumful if I want to accentuate the plum side of them, but I have to go really heavy with it because of its finish...); plus the staying power is different from colour to colour (I've got Cyndi and Milan Mode, the second one is better the the viva glam...)
Every time I read "Lustre" on a colour story... I skip that lipstick ^^;;;

I no longer purchase lustres, glazes, cremesheens, and frosts.

It's satins, mattes, mattenes and amplifieds or nada.
Mattes and mattenes are my absolute favs.
LOVE THEM!

I do love frosts instead XDDDD because I think they are buildable or with goog pigmentation (like my first MAC lippie ever, Costa Chic).
My favourite finish is Amplified, btw. And Satin. And I like Mattene and Prolongwears. XD

I have a good collection of Mac lipsticks and I don't own nor have ever purchased a lustre. Based off these comments and my extra drying lips, I'm okay with that!

I like lustres too! Mattes tend to dry my lips (eps. NARS matte ls) and lustres really don't. Although I was very surprised with the strength mattes since they have a bit more moisture.
It's the stuff that looks like dust on the lipsticks. Check the strength thread for more info.
Same here.
