I must be in the pro-lustre-minority :)
I used to love them, but I have too many and have switched sides to liking the matte side of things. Yeah, they are more drying but I like the longevity and pigmentation. Sometimes I like a bit of creaminess or dewiness to my lips, but most of the time not, I am going for something that is going to last. Plus, most of the Luster finish lippies to me look like lipsticks that come from other brands and could often be duped but their matte finish is more unique.

My ranking order is mattene> matte >prolongwear>satin>amplified>frost>creamsheen>lustre/glaze

sometimes I do like the glaze for layering or a less dramatic effect but most of us aren't going to MAC products to be subtle or blend into the woodwork...if I wanted that I would stick with Clinique, BB or EL

The finishes I love the most are Matte and Lustre! (very different each other, I know). I wear mattes and mattenes when I want a strong lipstick that will last for hours. When I want something softer, shiny and a bit sheer I go for lustres ^^ I also have some cremesheen and amplified, a few satins and only one frost (my sister stole it to me).

I was avoiding frosts like the plague before but they are starting to grow on me, and I am hoping for some more frost finish lipsticks this year. Esp. in the summer. I also like them in the winter, to do a heavily pigmented eye and then just a slight wash of pastel color plus frost on the lip...

No I like lustres too. Almost all my Mac lipsticks are this finish. I also have a couple cremesheens, amplifieds but no matte. More for everyone else.

You and me both. I like the lustres. I've purchased a few that have been a little drying, but I love semi-sheer/ semi-opaque lip colours in general. Because they let a little bit of your own lip colour peek through, they tend to "meld" with it and become the perfect shade for whoever is wearing them. I also adore the Glaze format, which I think is completely underrated. Then again. I am the Queen H00r of lip products. I love having a selection of finishes at my disposal at all times.

I really don't like frosts.

Lustre was my very first lipstick formula that I fell in love with back in 2008. Now since discovering Cremesheens, Satins, Amplified Cremes, Glazes, and Mattes, it's love!!

I'm on the fence about lustres. The ones I have actually really differ in pigmentation, like Blood Red is really quite opaque on me while Gem of Roses and Oh, Oh, Oh are semi-sheer. I don't like that they have a shorter longevity on the lips and that they're drying, yet mattes are drying on me as well, and I really love them. If I really love the color, I'll get it, but otherwise I tend to skip over them.

i like some Lustre's but my favorite is Mattes. My collection probably has 2-3x more mattes than i do anything else. Then Satin, Creamsheen, Lustre, and then Glaze some of the older LE items...and maybe a frost or two. Angel and Victorian.

Must be something new for this year. I use the cream Mineralize SPF15 and I loooooooove it for my dry skin. It's my every day foundation. Nice that this one is UVA and UVB - I don't think the cream one is.

It's not. Remember when all locations were sold out of it for eternity? It's cuz they were repacking it, removing the SPF labeling in correspondence with the new FDA regulations regarding SPF in cosmetics.

I thought you can still label it as SPF15 if it has that much - does it also have to be full spectrum now?

I wear moisturizer with SPF, so it doesn't really matter that much to me, but every little bit helps.
