Wow! This collection looks amazing.

I wonder if all the items were better quality, the same or are they better now? Lovely. Tx to Linda from the colorstorycollections blogspot website for the info.

Yes, but I am secretly relieved as I can continue my no buy on gloss. The csg has me so spoiled I won't really buy just regular gloss anymore. Plus, I have a ton, despite my "use up" efforts. Now, if they come up with some new plush glass, that doesn't count for the no buy...
We need them to bring those back! With special packaging and i want leopard print this time
I think maybe because of the higher price point, MAC seemed more experimental with the colors for csg. It's no surprise I've bought a ton of them. 2012 was a banner year for them, too.

Color Saturation, Star Quality, Astral, Private Screening, Meteoric, Narcissus, Rising Sun…wheee!

I'd like to see the return of Plush Glass too. I'm starting to ration Butterfly Dream :( I don't know why I didn't back that one up when I had the chance. I need to get to a CCO one of these days…..

I really am enjoying the Mineralize balms, at least, and they're a change of pace from all those high sheen glosses, so it's not like I'm at a gloss loss.

Why did they stop doing it? Looks like they did it for quite a number of years. I'd really like a Cher or Dolly Parton collection!
Good question! They did raquel welch, diana ross, catherine deneuve    the packaging was gorgeous! And the colours were awesome too!

Time has changed. There is a shift from classy actresses to hip 'n new starlets. I don't mind that fact, especially as the consumer pool for MAC gets younger and younger (18-25), whereas the more mature generation (30+) eventually wanders off to other brands that are easier to keep up with, i.e. less social media orientated and less LE focused. After all, anticipating a collection and hunting down strictly limited products epitomizes MAC in 2013. Estee Lauder has enough other brands to keep other consumers entertained who don't want to be part of the LE circle (or just can't be bothered with LE). Thus, new "idols," (Williams, Nikki, Gaga & Co are just more appropriate than old Hollywood style.

What I miss, however, are those high quality mini brush sets and the fancy packaging that came out with the beauty icons.

Yes, 2012 was a banner year and I think I have close to twenty. I would put myself on a no buy then MAC would put out a color like Narcissus and Star Quality and I would have to cheat the no buy--but it was well justified. I want to be tempted to cheat again though in 2013...

I have to ration Butterfly Dream also. I think my CCO has some, I can check next time I go and if you want buy both of us one. I don't know when I will head down that way but if there's no snow, I feel a drive in the foothills calling me and that is a good enough reason to head down there as any...Did you get the peachy one too from Vera, I think it was called Confetti? I am tempted to get it too if they have one.

If you can't find Butterfly Dreams or Confetti at the CCO, I have them on my Amazon site.

Or where the finishes are less reliant on very young skin. I'm far from a crypt keeper but the sheen in EDSF and some MSF just aren't flattering on me. Between neon Sugarpill eyeshadows (I had my own 80s variants) and my grandmother's refillable powder compact and two shades of virtually identifical lipstick is a whole lot of white space. I'm just starting (starting!) to get fine lines around the eyes and I can already see that heavily frosted products don't look their best. I can only imagine what the next decade will bring, retinols/suncreens or not!

I have absolutely no time or patience for site stalking and I'm tiring of having to order products quickly or not get them at all. Why go through all this effort to secure a coveted MSF or Pearlmatte when I now know there are gorgeous, perhaps more flattering Dior (or other) options that I can actually go to a store and try before buying. Now there's a concept! I enjoy exploring new collections, but MAC launches so many that I only buy from a subset of them anyway. I wouldn't care if MAC only had four-six big collections a year (heresy, I know) and actually had large enough quantities for me to buy in store every time. That's my first choice of how to buy.

I've been buying MAC for 20 years and while I still really like the products, I'm feeling less brand loyal. I don't like special packaging as a general rule and I don't like their current launch strategy/business practices. I received gift cards for Christmas and my birthday and couldn't even spend them at MAC. So I took them to Sephora and bought a bunch of non-MAC items that I really love; it's made me wonder why I've turned to MAC first all these years.

With the makeup base I have now, I'd rather buy a few wonderful products this year than chase what's new. It doesn't even really matter what an individual product costs (within reason, of course) because buying 12-18 products will still be cheaper than 50.

I'm starting to lean towards a tailored collex and not having the newest thing. Maybe it's my break in a few months back, my upcoming move, other stuff I want to do/buy, or as I go through my stash there are so many products that I forget to use. But I keep thinking of what my Grandmother said recently, "you need to just stop buying all that makeup stuff anyway". I didn't take it as an insult. the way she said it was funny b/c she sounded so exasperated. LOL But it made me think...

We need a Project Pan thread!  I'm working my way through my lipglasses and it's taking me forever and I haven't bought any glosses in over a year.
I'm so down! I have a lot of lippies that I want to use up. Gather some gals and lets get it going!

Anyone want to start Project Pan? =x
I started one already for 2013! I have decided to become way more selective. I even bought 2 lippies last night and canceled them after I realized I didn't need the lipsticks. I don't have a big stash by any means, but more than the average girl. I was one that was never really into Mac (because I loved Sephora) until a couple years ago, and I never bought limited edition items except maybe one or two items. I want to get back to those days where I am not looking for the next collection fix.
