MAC x Archie's Girls (Betty & Veronica) Collection Discussion (February 2013)

This collection is going to be available at Macy's and Nordstroms in addition to MAC stores, so the best bet would be to call the MAC stores/counters in your area and see if they allow pre-orders before taking a trip to one (unless they're in close distance to you). Unfortunately, every store has a different policy regarding pre-orders. It seems that many stores will only do pre-orders for Holiday collections. 

Thanks! I called two Nordstrom stores and neither was preordering. I will keep looking.

At first I wanted almost everything from this collection but after months of waiting and seeing all the new collections, I might skip the whole thing. I'm really not a fan of the packaging so I hate to spend the extra money for items when I have similar shades in my stash already. The only two items I am still considering are girl next door ( I'm a sucker for pale pinks) and cream soda, I'm not sure how this will work on my cool pale NW15-20 skin tho. I'm on the hunt for a peach or coral blush that will work with my cool coloring so I have an alternative to large collection if pinks. I already own launch away and easy manner, is cream soda different enough? Can any pale NW's recommend a flattering peach/ coral shade?

If I'm not mistaken, employee gratis are in regular packaging. But I don't know... I just looked at the seller's other items and saw an old MAC employee necklace.

OT: I just started a new thread in the Welcome Forum to help new Specktra members figure out what certain abbreviations mean. That might also be a good place to collect frequently asked questions. If anybody can contribute to the thread that would be awesome!

I don't have a Pro card and buy online. I would be pretty angry with Mac and buy about 99% less (at full price even!) if regular customers were given no shot at new collections before pros snapped up all the most desirable stuff and at a discount. A collection like this especially seems geared toward personal, not professional use.

I definitely think MAC could do a better job of allocating a certain amount of stock for early PRO releases, and a certain amount for the public release. That said, although alot of what I want from this collection is because of the packaging, only a small amount of what I want it for myself. The rest I'll be putting in my kit. They're gorgeous colors and awesome products (Pearlmattes!) that I'd love to use on my clients.

Magic spells pigment in person is gorg! A deep dark blackened teal forest green! Looks way better in person than in swatches from Muandb blog. I can skip Betty bright I've got watch me simmer and FOrce of love which are both close.if you missed those and want bright coral lips get it! Feelin so good lipglass is super dark and gothy. Strawberry malt is a bright cherry red all most flashing hot pink-ness Mall madness is a lilac tinged pink,better in person than online. Both pearl mattes were missing The blushes were nice, cream soda was a little chalky looking. Prom princess is lovely more of a grown up pink than dollymix.

just when I was going to cut strawberry malt from my list!! lol it's here to stay! the blushes too lol

So just so I have this correct? the Pearmatte face powder can be used as a highlight? Which one do you ladies think would look better on nc 35 skintone? The Betty or Veronica?

I could see how that would bother some people but she does state the above at the bottom of the page. I feel like she has some connection tho if she's getting the products this far in advance. It doesn't get to me too bad for one because I will not spend 30 plus dollars on that lipglass but you have some people that will. As you can see one is already sold. It's like people know they don't have a chance online with MAC because its such limited stock they have to resort to waking up and hitting the stores early or evil ebay prices. Not everyone has time to site stalk MAC for collections and I probably won't this week since I am working a lot so at this point I'm just hoping its still there when I get off work.

Basically it starts with MAC if they do away with crazy LE frenzy the ebay issue won't be so bad. I don't think it will ever go away because its always going to be something older someone is going to want to purchase but asking folks 100+ for MM lipsticks were just a bit crazy in my book. It should have been enough to go around to everyone. I could be very wrong but other brands never have these issues with LE products like MAC does. The fact that it keeps happening should tell you what they think: its all about money. In the end it still benefits them. That's just my two cents on it.

I'm NC 40 and getting Betty because I love corals. This would also go well with Betty bright. I tan in the summer so I know this will look just as nice on me.

I was thinking the Betty also because its more coral but wasn't quite sure if it would show up(as a highlight). I just think its kinda funny that the Betty would look better on tanner skintones lol. To answer your question,from previous post I read, I believe the pearlmatte can be used as a setting powder but I hear that the beauty powders are very light in texture.
