MAC Year of the Snake Collection Discussion (February 2013)

You're making Shell Pearl sound very tempting, Erin. Does anyone who has SP have NARS Albatross or Nico to compare to? I don't want to get a near dupe, but I absolutely adore FM and don't want to miss one like it.

SP is a lot more shimmery than FM just FYI. Beauty Powders can really be different in effect and I believe FM was your first right? They also have almost matte powders like the Disney powders, they have soft sheen powders like FM and shimmery like SP, Play it Proper or Too Chic. I would not recommend to use SP all over like FM, it's really a highlight powder for me that I use on my cheekbones only (I do have oily skin so I hardy ever highlight my nose or forehead).

If I'm correct, albatross looks exactly like carefree PLW shadow, which is very yellow gold cream. Nothing near SP!

As i posted before, and was able to confirm this morning, SP is NOT the same as the pearlmattes from AG.

Presumably the base colour of Veronica's Blush isn't Play it Proper either? Way to confuse your customers MAC!

And there I was, brimming with pride at having removed the Archie Pearlmattes from my wishlist for good... I should have known it wouldn't last. Gah!

Yeah, i asked my friend and she confirmed that they were mostly matte. And they were told nothing about them being BP bases.

I don't get what takes them so long if the release date was the 26th?! I hope you can get what you want. I don't think this collection will go as fast as say Marilyn or By Request though.

I called them (cs) 5 minutes before closing time, asking what's up. A totally disinterested employee assured me that they get no information regarding the online release. I could just imagine her rolling her eyes at this nuisance of a customer, chewing gum and curling her hair around her finger....And not a f*ck was given that night... I'll be happy with 1 sp, that's all.

I've ask a woman (I somehow always got the same on the phone) a couple of times when By Request came out and she did sound like she wanted to help, but she told me they don't get that info. They are not the people that put the stuff on the site and they don't have very good communication with the people that do put the stuff up and therefore they can't tell us, because they really don't know. Mac should really do something about that.

I find Albatross very white - almost cool toned. I wouldn't describe it as yellow gold, but perhaps that's because I have such strong warm undertones. From the pics I've seen, SP looks very pink against it, so I don't really think they're dupes.

I wish I could swatch this one.

No, the official online date is Jan. 31 and it's only online in the US. The International date is also late Jan., but no date was given.

There is a dutch blog that gives the official release dates for the netherlands normally and it was the 26th of Jan, but so far nothing.

So what is the deal with the Pearlmattes? They aren't PIP w/ so scarlet or whatever the other is. What the f.... are these? Also is the Snakt thing releasing here this week? Is it just on line or will it be at MAC FS stores OR will this be at department store counters starting when? Please help. I can't keep it straight b/c I feel so bad.

Very pleased with Mac CS, my replacament Aztec Brick eyeshadow has arrived and this one even has a sleeve on it! They didn't ask me to return the other one, so I'm guessing it's mine to keep.

I'm thrilled with this collection, but not for the reasons one might think.

I have a lifelong fear of snakes, so I get to skip the entire shebang and save my moolah!

Technically I could get the lipsticks and chuck the packaging, but I will just bypass this altogether. Most everything looks really nice, though!
