(I'm just kidding, lol!) But, try to swap for Ruby Woo or B2MAC for it. For reals, it changed my life, lol. I never used to wear red lipstick. I could never find a shade that I really ever liked on my very yellow, NC50 skin. I think that the blue in Ruby Woo really contrasts against the yellow in my skin.

But, I swapped for Ruby Woo on a whim, and the first time I wore it I felt 10 imes sexier. I don't know how a lipstick could do it, but it just did. It looks really pretty when I wear it with NARS Exhibit A blush. I actually like the retro matte finish that it has- it makes it look sexier, to me. No other MAC red looks as good on me as Ruby Woo- they just don't have enough blue in them.

The MAC Early Buzz thread has a picture of Rihanna supposedly wearing Riri Woo. I hope that the lipstick she's wearing is not RiRi Woo...that lipstick leans pink. I was hoping that RiRi Woo would be a bluer, deeper toned Ruby Woo.
OMG! It's life changing? I might have to re-consider then.

And the return of MM? I'm glad people will get their BU's or items they missed, but that's just plain weird.
I'm actually really intrigued by the fact MAC is going to sell this during concerts, though I feel neither positive or negative about that.

I'm really curious to see how that turns out, it sounds a bit like a bloodbath waiting to happen. Rihanna/MAC products, Rihanna concert, sold to Rihanna fans...I feel bad for the poor workers who are gonna be at booths with...mile long lines and fans buying up 3-4 of the same product. It just seems like it could get...passionate quickly if something goes wrong.

Can you imagine what would happen if something sells out and there's still hundreds or thousands waiting in line?

I love this site and I joined because people are so positive and encouraging. But I would hope that its just not the "newbies" that you are only referring to because it seems like the debate is all over the thread....newbie, cadette, cub, or senior.....

Can't wait for this collection to come out ladies

I have a love/hate thing going on with Rihanna. I can relate all too well to the DV thing and (as a healthcare professional and mom) have an issue with the drug thing. In the end though her life is her life.

I think her makeup is amazing because her makeup artists are amazing and I wonder if they helped with the process.
I loved her darker look in the video for Disturbia.

I am not blown away by anything we have seen so far but will keep an open mind. I am anxious to see the color story and swatches.

I am hoping we can move past the race, role model, personal life discussions on this thread. I have been a member of this community for many years and found it without exception to be very open and supportive regardless of various personal opinions. It is distressing to come on and see a number of newbies criticizing others opinions and taking some out of context. That strikes me as the type of critical behavior/speech that you are accusing others of. This is a peaceful, fun, caring place. Let's keep it that way.

And, in the words of Forrest Gump, "that is all I have to say about that".
Forgot to quote:

I'm am way behind in this thread but like a lot of people I'm in the middle/staying neutral.  The one complaint/question I do have is why are we being bombarded with Rhianna?  Are they going to be doing this every year with a new celebrity. Are they haveing a hard time to find other people to collaberate with them? I understand a lot of her products wil be sold at her concerts so it will be sold because those people are Rhianna fans.
It all started with lady gaga. They did her. Then did her again. Then nikki. Then nikki again. Then MM. And apparently MM again. Now RiRi x4!? Don't get me wrong. The spokesperson doesn't determine if i buy or not. And special packaging doesn't either (i depot everything). It's all about the product. But we've seen for years now that mac recycles colours. Hell, they recycle collection themes/products. But now they're recycling the spokespeople!? Seriously!?
OMG! It's life changing? I might have to re-consider then.

One stop on the concert, one product. I'm sure there will be enough of RiRi Woo to go around. It's being released with each launch

I generally have contempt for anything that has a celebrity name slapped on it, but it is so hard to avoid it in our modern-day celebrity-obsessing culture. Celebrities making perfume, jeans, scarves, bags, headphones and the list goes on and on. Puh-lease!!!! :)

Amen to what one of the girls said on here that certain undesirable behaviour the youngsters may adopt should not be blamed on the "role models". In the end, those of them with adequate upbringing will be able to tell right from wrong and make their own choices. I am obviously crudely generalizing here, because there are far too many nuances to mention.

In the end, I doubt that a celebrity name (and even less so their personal life choices, because -- let's face it -- nobody's perfect, and enough dirt can be dug up about any famous person, if needed) connected to a product will ever influence my decision about purchasing it. I will only buy a product if I am happy with the product itself. I don't think RiRi Woo is for me, but I'm curious about other products coming.

Remember when people actually went to design school to become a designer!?

A lot of celebrities branch off to so many different things especially the ones in the music industry is because they don't make the money in album sales like years ago.

It seems like no one makes as much money as years ago and everything costs more. I've noticed trends where companies require you to buy more. Sheer shirts: you have to buy cami, movies: come a sereis of 3 instead of the full story in one, scent layering: buy more if you want a more complex scent. Makeup: limted edition or releases in series. Everything seems geared to make you buy more.

Yes, while personal and government debts reach unsustainable levels and personal saving rates plummet. Not a recipe for a happy ending.

i think the other thing is that the celebs have the resources and connections to allow them to venture into different fields. i think it's natural to want to experiment in other areas of work. i know if i had that kind of opportunity, i would act on it!

sometimes i do feel a bit miffed as a designer when someone is able to 'skip the line' so to speak, when they start 'designing' without training, but although design training certainly helps, it's not the only way to become good at it. some of the most successful designers or artists are not formally trained - they improve their skills by doing.

of course, a person who doesn't have the training may also produce total crap and often that's what happens....and it's kinda annoying when the celebs just stamp their autograph or label on stuff when they haven't necessarily much had involvement in the actual production...there's a big difference between being a spokesperson and being the designer.

Sometimes celebrities that sing or act (I made that distinction because to exclude reality TV "celebrities") are approached by the corporations to create a product. It's not necessarily a project that celebrity has created or is as passionate about. Blame the corporations. Ugh side note, I can't stand celebrity created perfumes. UGH!!! The only exception to that for is Liz Taylor. She was the first one to do a celebrity created scent and she did it right!

True, but in my opinion it isn't the primary reason for all those celebrity products/collaborations popping up. It has simply become an additional (and extremely popular) venue of profit, so why say no to it? I doubt that all those famous people who starred in all kinds of ridiculous Japanese ads (http://www.japander.com/ has a nice collection) did it because they were not making enough money.

A lot of those singers/actors etc also know they may need something else to back up their income in later life. A lot of them are not going to be as popular in 10, 15, 20 years as they are now.
