I've never been a big fan of matte lipsticks. I have a few because i love the colors, but I'm just not crazy about the finish. Didn't care for 'em in the 90s, still don't, although I do like the mattes with shimmer (such as Firm Form​), kinda oxymoronic.

I've seen women my age or so, over 55 (i'm almost 64 - i keep hearing that Beatles song in my head...), go into MAC and buy the same matte brick lipstick they were wearing 20 years ago. Well, as we age (and go through menopause), our coloring changes and looks less fresh, our skin gets drier, our lips get wrinkles. And matte brick is no longer flattering (if it ever was). I'm a real busy body (Mrs. Walgreens, here), so i occasionally try to encourage those women to test some other colors and finishes - something that will make their skin tones look less dead, although i sure don't phrase it like that! Note that i can't speak for WoC, so if there are any older dark-skinned beauties here, i'd like to know how your skin changes...

Personally, or maybe it's just because i have a neutral skin tone, i like to have a minimum of one warm color and one cool color lipstick in my makeup travel bag, so i have something to wear with different colors of clothing. IMNSHO, the same color lipstick rarely looks good with everything, with a few exceptions.

In looking over my own lip product inventory, i realize i have an awful lot of frosts. I know it isn't the 1970s anymore

(sigh)... maybe i need to get more with creamy or satiny finishes, so i'm not in a rut from my younger daze.

MY LIST
Lipstick - Heroine - Bright violet purple (Matte) (yes, i'm getting a matte l/s)
Lipglass - Heroine - Bright purple
Lip Pencil - Heroine - Bright purple
Eye Shadow - Embrace Me - Blue pink (satin)

And i want to check out the Ablaze Lipstick, Lipglass, and Lip Pencils, just in case they really are apricot...

I love the Beatles and I can play almost all their songs. Same goes for the Monkees, Beach Boys, the Zombies, Ventures, Herman's Hermits and so forth and so on. I'm a 60's music lover but I'm a late 80's kid.

Does anyone know if this is only for MAC pro/online, or will it also be at MAC counter locations (Macy's, Nordstrom).

Has there been any official swatches for Ablaze l/s yet? I missed out on Heroine l/s last year, but not this year!! I'll be getting Heroine everythingggg except the shadow... I love lip liners soI'll be getting all except embrace me which I already have..

There haven't been swatches of the l/s but there has been one of Ablaze l/g, that at least gives you an idea of what the lipstick will look like. You can find the picture under 'Recent Images in this Thread' actually, I'll just quote the post & post it in a second.
